Barbra to receive THE PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM in D.C Next Week!

President Obama said, “I look forward to presenting these 17 distinguished Americans with our nation’s highest civilian honor. From public servants who helped us meet defining challenges of our time to artists who expanded our imaginations, from leaders who have made our union more perfect to athletes who have inspired millions of fans, these men and women have enriched our lives and helped define our shared experience as Americans.”

Barbra will be presented the award at the White House on November 24th. Also being bestowed this prestigious honour is Yogi Berra (posthumous), Bonnie Carroll, Shirley Chisholm (posthumous), Emilio Estefan, Gloria Estefan, Billy Frank, Jr. (posthumous), Lee Hamilton, Katherine G. Johnson, Willie Mays, Barbara Mikulski, Itzhak Perlman, William Ruckelshaus, Stephen Sondheim, Steven Spielberg, James Taylor and Minoru Yasui (posthumous).

NEXT MONTH –
The legendary performer will receive the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the annual star-studded event on Dec. 9 in Los Angeles.

“Hearing that Barbra had agreed to accept the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award was both humbling and exhilarating. Barbra’s remarkable professional achievements and philanthropic generosity have greatly inspired me and hundreds of millions of people worldwide,” said Sherry Lansing, former CEO of Paramount Pictures and the first woman to head a major Hollywood studio, in a statement. “The Hollywood Reporter could not have chosen a more deserving individual to recognize than Barbra.”
