Tinder’s founder, Sean Rad, announced that since GLAAD worked with Tinder to make the platform trans-inclusive, Tinder has matched over 250,000 trans users. That’s a huge number and shows that transgender inclusion really works.

When Tinder released its “More Genders” update last November, it sent a strong message to tens of millions of people that trans people were welcome at Tinder.

It’s particularly important that this news came out at an event in Texas, where the message is sorely needed — Texas is currently considering a law, SB6, that would codify discrimination against trans people.

From working with companies like Tinder and the cast of Transparent, to fighting back against SB6 and the Trump administration’s efforts to roll back protections for trans kids, GLAAD is fighting on the front lines to accelerate acceptance for trans people. Today, we’re asking you to be a part of that work.

Your contribution of just $25 is an important way for you to voice your support for all trans people — and to make an unequivocal statement that all of us deserve nothing less than full acceptance:

Thank you for being one of GLAAD’s best supporters. We can’t do this without you.

Neil Patrick Harris in New York City

This year marks the monumental 10-year anniversary of (RED).

It is astonishing that in 2005, 1200 babies were born every day with HIV.  In 2015, that number was cut by two-thirds to 400.

Playing a role in this pivotal fight and extraordinary anniversary, Neil Patrick Harris is partnering with Coca-Cola and (RED) to help bring additional awareness to this cause.

Beginning today, you can head over to to donate.   A $10 donation will get you 100 entries for Neil’s exclusive experience.  One lucky winner + guest will join Neil and his husband for a fun night out in New York City!  In addition to getting flown out and staying in a 4-star hotel, the winner will catch a Broadway show with the couple and grab dinner at one of Neil’s favorite spots in the city.

Donations can be made at many levels and include additional campaign perks – anything from a (RED) campaign shirt to signed merchandise from Neil himself.  Coca-Cola will also match every dollar raised by Neil Patrick Harris’ campaign this year, up to $2million.

Celebrity Auction for Stonewall

On June 24th, 2016, President Obama designated Stonewall National Monument as the newest addition to America’s National Park System. Stonewall is the first national monument to tell the story of the struggle for LGBT rights in America.

New York’s Stonewall Inn has long been hallowed ground: The Greenwich Village tavern was home to the 1969 Stonewall riots, which are widely considered to be the birth of the modern gay rights movement. More than 40 years later, when the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, the celebration was (unofficially) headquartered there. Now the legacy of the Stonewall Inn will officially live on, as President Obama will reportedly name the space outside the iconic bar a national monument, the first of its kind recognizing LGBT rights.

In support of this historic designation, Pride Live Nation has partnered with Charitybuzz and some of the biggest names in entertainment to raise funds directly for the Stonewall National Monument.

Stop the Hate: 49 Celebrities Honor 49 Victims of Orlando Tragedy in Ryan Murphy-Produced Tribute

For too long, a toxic combination of anti-LGBTQ hate and easy access to guns has put LGBTQ people at disproportionate risk of violence and murder. On June 12, forty-nine innocent people — most of them Latinx — were killed at Pulse nightclub in Orlando simply because of who they were. It’s on all of us to keep their memories alive, and to ensure part of their legacy becomes meaningful action to end hate violence. Join the Human Rights Campaign and urge your legislator to support legislation that will ensure LGBTQ people are safe and equal in every community and find out how to support the survivors and families of the Orlando victims. Oakland A’s Support Gays!

oakland a lgbt gay night california

Oakland Athletics pitcher Sean Doolittle and his girlfriend, Eireann Dolan, stepped in to head off what she described as a negative response to the team’s first LGBT Pride Night this coming season, the San Jose Mercury News reported.

Late last week, Dolan offered to buy tickets for the A’s June 17th game against San Diego, saying several season ticket holders were refusing to attend and trying to sell their tickets because they were uncomfortable with the event.

“If you’d like to sell your tickets to June 17th’s LGBT Pride Night game, I will buy them from you at face value. As many as I can. No judgments. No questions asked,” she wrote on her blog. “From there, I will donate any tickets I purchase to the Bay Area Youth Center’s Our Space community for LGBTQ youth.”

She revealed in the post that her biological mother is part of a same-sex couple living in San Diego.

“In fact I’m starting to suspect that the Athletics focus-grouped this event idea with just my two moms and nobody else,” she wrote. “It couldn’t be any more perfectly tailored to my moms than if the team announced that NPR’s Terry Gross will also be throwing out the first pitch and there will be a free notepad giveaway on which my moms can write down all of the reasons I should have majored in something more practical in college.”

On Monday, Dolan said, Doolittle agreed to match her donations up to $3,000. She also started an online fundraising campaign to purchase more seats to donate to the youth center group.

Lesbians in Alabama Need Help

lesbian couple alabama

It is sad that we have to PAY to defend ourselves and what is right. There should be a reimbursement system in place. ALABAMA should be eating these court costs!

“The two women in Mobile are the bravest two women I’ve ever known,” [Alabama Rep. Patricia Todd, D-Birmingham] said. “They’ve been through a lot, and they will continue to go through a lot, and we can never forget them.”

Todd said Searcy and McKeand have “incurred a great debt over legal fees” in their eight-year fight to have their California marriage recognized. She urged attendees to donate to the couple at their website,

[Living in Limbo Executive Director Lara] Embry said Searcy and McKeand are $40,000 in legal debt “because they fought this fight for a long time in Alabama while we were not considered low-hanging fruit to national organizations who would then pitch in and help with that fight.”

“If you want to send someone a wedding gift, maybe make it honor of Cari and Kim, and make a donation to help them, to help pay for marriage equality in Alabama,” Embry said. “Because they got the bill.”

FCKH8 Male Model Charity Calendar

Straight and Gay Hunks Get Naked Together, Lowering Their Underwear to Raise Awareness and Funds with 2015 HIV/AIDS Charity Calendar Teams Up with Photographer Justin Monroe  to Create Sexy Poolside Photo Spread.

Hot on the heels of the massive viral success of their anti-sexism “Potty-Mouth Princesses” video that garnered almost 20 million views and raised $30,000 for charities promoting girls and women’s rights, is campaigning to benefit HIV/AIDS charities with a sexy new 2015 benefit calendar that features straight and gay men getting naked together for a cause.

Lensed by renowned photographer Justin Monroe, and promoted by the gay social app Jack’d, the 12 month photo calendar features beefy straight and gay hotties stripped down to their bathing suits… or their birthday suits. The calendar, as well as the behind the scenes video that shows even more of the guys than the calendar does, were shot by the pool in the Hollywood hills in the hot California sun.

With a behind-the-scenes video on the home page, the 9 inch x 12 inch glossy calendar is available for purchase for $9.99 on the campaign website. To support the cause, 50% of all the money raised will go to HIV/AIDS charities that online supporters will be able to vote for on the campaign’s Facebook page.

The video and calendar shoot were made with the help of the guys at Jack’d, the fastest-growing gay social app in the world, who are promoting the cause to their audience of millions of gay and bi men to turn them on and turn up their support.

Mark MacKillop Photo Book RM. FOURTEEN

male model underwear mark mackallip new york

Mark MacKillop is a singer actor dancer. Originally from Vancouver he studied ballet in Vancouver with Li Yaming at Pacific DanceArts and spent summers training with the Boston Ballet and American Ballet Theater in New York, both on full scholarship. After three years dancing with the Atlanta Ballet Mark moved to New York to pursue musical theatre and just finished a year on tour playing Riff with the international production of West Side Story – which leads us to this story about Mark!

From Huffington Post:   New York performer Mark MacKillop offers musical theater fans a provocative peek at the offstage life of a working actor in his coffee table book, Rm. XIV.

The new book comprises 80 black-and-white selfies of MacKillop in various stages of undress, shot in various hotel rooms around the world while he was in the midst of an international tour of “West Side Story” last year.

Though the steamy images will no doubt set pulses racing, MacKillop sees Rm. XIV as capturing “physicality, composition, reflection” as opposed to being intentionally scintillating.

“I  had just finished a year touring all over Europe and Israel with the international production of West Side Story.  During the course of my time abroad i started taking pictures of myself in each hotel room I stayed in.   This quickly became a staple of my experience on tour.”

“ Surprisingly traveling around with 30 cast members and a 30 piece orchestra left me feeling incredibly isolated and at times lonely. I used the photos as a way of connecting with friends who I was separated from to give them a unique, intimate look at my life on the road,” MacKillop, who originally hails from Canada, told The Huffington Post. Noting that he shot all of the images on his iPhone with a self-timer app, he added, “I definitely wouldn’t call myself a photographer. I would just call myself an artist exploring in various mediums.”

MacKillop, who is openly gay, said the photos also represent a very personal journey, and were partly inspired by Tom of Finland in addition to his own ballet and modern dance training.

A very successful kickstarter campaign was launched and the book was printed!

Having performed in the 2014 installment of “Broadway Bares,” MacKillop will donate a portion of the proceeds from Rm. XIV to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA). In addition, the book will feature an introduction by Tony Award-winning “Kinky Boots” star Billy Porter and a foreword authored by New York artist Robert W. Richards.

Do I Sound Gay?

It’s a question many gay men have asked of themselves at some point. And it raises all sorts of fascinating questions about the origins of sexual orientation. Is sounding your sibilants a little excessively in the genes or from the environment?

Is the gay voice a function of  learning from others and creating your own community, or is to something embedded in our nature? Why is there such a wide spectrum of gay voices – from gruff masculinity to elaborate femminess? A documentary exploring this is almost done and just launched a kickstarter campaign to finish it.

FEDERAL Government WILL Recognize Same Sex Marriages

The U.S. Department of Treasury has just made it official: legally
married same-sex couples will receive the same tax benefits as
opposite-sex married couples, regardless of where they reside.

a call earlier today, U.S. Treasury Department Secretary Jacob Lew told
leadership of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce
(NGLCC) and other LGBT interest groups that effective immediately the
U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
ruled that same-sex couples, legally married in jurisdictions that
recognize their marriages, will be treated as married for federal tax purposes.
The ruling applies regardless of whether the couple lives in a
jurisdiction that recognizes same-sex marriage or a jurisdiction that
does not recognize same-sex marriage.

“Today’s ruling provides
certainty and clear, coherent tax filing guidance for all legally
married same-sex couples nationwide. It provides access to benefits,
responsibilities and protections under federal tax law that all
Americans deserve,” said Secretary Lew. “This ruling also assures
legally married same-sex couples that they can move freely throughout
the country knowing that their federal filing status will not change.”

is a major victory for the entire equality movement, but especially for
married same-sex couples who own and operate businesses. LGBT people
who are legally married in one of the 13 states that grant same-sex
marriage, can now ensure their business is a “family” business and are
legally entitled to determine the legacy of their wealth.

NGLCC will continue to work with LGBT small business owners to ensure
they are equipped with all the pertinent knowledge and resources
throughout this transition. The organization will also advise dozens of
our more than 140 corporate partners who will be augmenting grossing-up
best practices as a result of this announcement.

Other key takeaways:

  • Joint filing beginning 2014 for couples married in 2013.
  • Retro-active filing for those married in the past three years.
  • Same tax treatment for items like income, gifts, and estate.

Lew acknowledged there would be further refinements needed and that
both his department and the IRS are looking to the public to help
identify these needed refinements; for instance, child tax credit issues
surrounding same-sex parents where it is not legal at the state level
for a same-sex second parent to adopt.

so, they can reclaim their power and rise above the fear that can
prevent them from being the diverse, confident, and beautiful
individuals they were meant to be.

While we may not be able to fully eradicate
bullying, we can commit to being better friends to one another – to

I’m From Driftwood Needs Your Support

I’m From Driftwood is such a cool website. If you have never checked it out, PLEASE DO SO NOW!

“I’m From Driftwood aims to help LGBTQ people learn more about their
community, straight people learn more about their neighbors and everyone
learn more about themselves through the power of storytelling and
story sharing.

We accomplish this by creating an apolitical
forum for LGBTQ stories from every age, race, gender, background and
culture to deepen our understanding of each other, preserve our
history, and open hearts and minds.
We envision a world where every lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and
queer person feels understood and accepted, and every straight person
is an ally.

There are LGBTQ stories from every corner of the Earth and the importance of each story is as unique as the stories themselves.

To the LGBTQ teens struggling to come out and come to terms with
their sexuality, who to this day still attempt suicide 4 times more than
straight kids, it says “you are not alone.” Other people have dealt
with similar situations, families, communities and churches, and have
overcome and are now living happy lives. It can happen for you, too.

To the straight community, these stories provide an open, honest and
welcoming look inside the true lives of LGBTQ people. Once you get to
know more about your neighbor, I think you’ll be surprised at how much
more you’ll get to know about yourself.”

Nathan and his small team are doing important work. And they have really cool ideas for 2013 to take I’m From Driftwood to the next level and preserve all of these stories FOREVER. These stories are such an important part of who we all are! But it takes time. and money.

“I’m From Driftwood is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations
are tax-deductible, much appreciated and help us continue to collect
and share lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer stories from all
over the world.”

What can you give today, to help this awesome cause?

like to come out in 2012 or what it is like to be different from the
rest of the pact?

Is it easier? Is it harder?

Obviously, it is much
different than ten years ago…

FRIEND is a film that is not written
by a bunch of writers in a Hollywood room, but rather by the very own
kids we see at the end of our streets.

Help Nick Adams Raise $$$ For AIDS Walk NY

How can you resist that face???

Every year BEST GAY NEW supports the AIDS WALK New York. (May 20, 2012)

AND since we are huge fans of Priscilla, and secretly in love with NICK ADAMS (ok, so it’s not a secret) we like to put our support behind Nick for the AIDS  WALK.

Nick gives, and gives and gives whenever he can to great causes like
Broadway Bares and AIDS WALK NY.  (He has even been crowned Broadway Hero by  “I enjoy giving my time to great causes, and it makes me feel good to know I can help in some way.”

Nick sent us this note, to share with our readers….

Last year I participated in AIDS WALK NY
and with your help was able to raise over $20,000!
This year I want to
surpass that total.

I’m offering backstage tours of the Palace theatre at Priscilla Queen of the Desert to donations of $500 or more!

I’ll personally take you backstage after a performance and show you behind the scenes of our hit Broadway musical!

Simply make your tax deductible contribution of $500 or more to my personal page here

Then send me your confirmation email from AIDS WALK NY once you’ve received it and I’ll
coordinate a date that works for us!

Thank you!

Taking IT GETS BETTER on the road with a Theater Project

Critics of the “It Gets Better” message say action is needed behind
those words, and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles has an idea on how.

The chorus is raising money to take the message of hope from the
Internet and deliver it in person to schools nationwide with “It Gets
Better,” the musical.

Six cast members will use a mix of original songs
and ones the students have heard from the radio to drive home the point.
The performance will cap a week of outreach in the community where the
chorus finds people who have posted It Gets Better videos and asks them
to share in person with local leaders and school officials what they
said online.

“We will talk to videos, we will respond to videos, we will talk to
people who made videos and find out how their lives are different as a
result of it,” says Liesel Reinhart of Speak Theater Arts, which is a
partner in the effort, in a fundraising video posted on Kickstarter

So far  backers have pledged more than $25,000, and the chorus has
less than three weeks to raise the $75,000 it needs to put on the
combination of activism and stage shows in school communities all over
the country.

This is an idea  worth funding!!
