Magic Pads for Glowing Skin

magic pads skin face

A friend of mine told me about these, now I am hooked!   MAGIC PADS! The Magic Pads is the world’s newest and most revolutionary product illuminating the road to perfect skin!

Using a unique blend of Glycolic and Salicylic Acids combined with Aloe and vitamin e.  No fragrance, no parabens, no unnecessary nonsense.

The Magic Pads is designed to destroy acne, clear breakouts, smooth skin,  PLUS they tighten pores, exfoliate, tone, clarify and fight aging as well as moisturize all is one swift swoop of the pad.

Little Goddess Cosmetics blogger said, “I had the pleasure of speaking with the creator of The Magic Pads, Rob Harmon (who besides being a skin care wizard, is also a makeup artist on the hit Broadway musical, Wicked) and when I asked him why he decided to create these, he basically said he wanted a product that worked without all the unnecessary ingredients and was affordable for the people who really needed it.

“I know how hard it is to get people to trust in a new skin care product. That’s one of the many reasons I kept the price as low as it is. I’d like to say they are unlike anything I’ve ever found, and they are great for everyone with all skin types.”

$20  a jar – well worth it!

World AIDS Day and Margo Manhattan

  December 1st marks the
25th observance of World AIDS Day.
This year’s theme is fittingly “Shared Responsibility:
Strengthening results for an AIDS-free generation.”  More than 1.1 million people are
infected with HIV in the United States and 20% more may be infected without
knowing it. An
interactive map
details reported diagnoses across
the country according to race, economics, gender and age.  STD testing, prevention and education is
key in the fight against this epidemic.

In the 90’s Margo Manhattan created the universally recognized red
ribbon lapel pin for AIDS awareness. This furthered Margo’s reputation
as a visionary, socially aware and iconic jewelry designer. Margo’s
sleek, versatile designs are elegant with an edge, captivating and sexy.
Her passion for inventiveness and signature “of the moment we live in”
comes through eloquently in every aspect of her jewelry. Visit
the new Margo Manhattan boutique on 88th and Madison and explore her

KMART and JOE BOXER Jingle Balls ad

Check out the Kmart studs in the retailer’s crazy Christmas
cross-promotion with Joe Boxer via Draftfcb in Chicago—swaying their
sacks to chime out their own impressive version of the holiday standard.
That’s some musical junk right there. It caps an offbeat year for

DID YOU KNOW…….

As of 2002, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) developed national standards and started the National Organic Program http://www.ams.usda.gov/AMSv1.0/nop for organic food production and handling.

USDA Organic labeling is broken down into 4 subcategories.

  • 100% Organic (contains 100% organic ingredients. E.g. a piece of fruit)
  • Organic (Contains 95% or more organic ingredients)
  • Made With Organic Ingredients (70% or more organic ingredients)
  • < 70% Organic Ingredients ( < 70% organic ingredients)

All Manna Organics products contain between 95% and 100% organic and are therefore certified “Organic” by Quality Assurance International (QAI), which means that an organic certification organization, accredited by the United States Department of Agriculture, has validated that products labeled as “organic” meet the defined organic standards.

Dom Perignon and Artist Jeff Koons Partnership

The latest artist and  alcoholic beverage collaboration comes in the form of Jeff Koons‘s new bottle for Dom Perignon. To mark the occasion, Koons created a limited edition 2-foot sculpture based on his pre-existing 8-foot Balloon Venus
sculpture .
Those interested can pick up the sculpture for a
cool £15,500 GBP (approximately $24,943 USD) on a made-to-order basis.
Furthermore, Jeff Koons has designed limited edition Dom Perignon boxes,
pictured above, to celebrate his collaboration with the champagne
brand.
“I know that my mother will want one,” Koons said, smiling. “But I hope a
lot of collectors, people who are already involved with my work, will
give these as gifts to their friends.” A bargain when you consider the
recent news that Koons’s Balloon Dog is estimated to sell at auction this November for $35 to $55 million.

Barilla Pasta = Anti Gay…..Bertolli Pasta = PRO GAY

This was genius!  Bertolli pasta has been taking advantage of its rival Barilla’s misstep by posting pro-gay imagery on social media and speaking out about its support for the LGBT community.

“Pasta und Liebe für alle!” (Pasta and love for all) reads the caption on the photo posted to Facebook (above). The company also spoke with Adweek:

“We just wanted to spread the news that Bertolli welcomes everyone, especially those with an empty stomach.”

Adweek notes that the company has produced gay-themed ads in the past.

Barilla Pasta tells gays: ‘Eat another brand’

Barilla — one of the best known pasta brands around the world — is one
of Italy’s biggest advertisers, and for many years has used the image of
a happy family living in an idealised version of the Italian
countryside, with the slogan: “Where there’s Barilla, there’s home.”
“I would never do (a commercial) with a homosexual family, not for lack
of respect but because we don’t agree with them.
Ours is a classic
family where the woman plays a fundamental role,” Barilla, 55, said in
an interview with Radio 24 on Wednesday.

In the interview, Barilla said he opposed adoption by gay parents,
but was in favor of allowing gay marriage, which is not legal in Italy.
His comment about advertising was in response to a direct question about
whether he would ever feature a gay family in his company’s
commercials.

If gays “like our pasta and our advertising, they’ll
eat our pasta, if they don’t like it then they will not eat it and they
will eat another brand,” he said.

Aurelio Mancuso, head of gay
rights group Equality Italia, said Barilla’s comments were an “offensive
provocation” and called for a boycott of the company’s pasta, sauces
and snacks.

“We accept the invitation from the Barilla owner to
not eat his pasta,” Mancuso said. Many Italians used social media to
voice support for a boycott.

AGWA de Bolivia Herbal Liqueur

Agwa de Bolivia (usually shortened to AGWA) is a herbal liqueur made with Bolivian coca leaves and 37 other natural herbs and botanicals including green tea, ginseng, and guarana, distilled and produced in Amsterdam by BABCO Europe Limited.

The coca leaf content of the drink, like that in Coca-Cola, has the cocaine alkaloids removed during production, and does not contain the drug.

The leaves used for the production of AGWA are picked at 2000 metres above sea level in the Andes. The leaves are then shipped under armed guard to Amsterdam, where they are distilled to a strength of 78-88% alc./vol. and 36 other botanical elements are added.

It mixes with just about everything!  We tried a bottle and some various concoctions.

The Cocarita (AGWA’s twist on the Margarita):
Ingredients: 2oz Frozen AGWA, 1oz Tequila, Juice of 1-2 fresh limes.
Method: Shake AGWA, Tequila & Lime Juice with ice. Strain into a salt-frosted
Margarita glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.
The AGWA Fresca:(pictured)
Method: A serving of Frozen AGWA poured over ice and some lime wheels in a long
glass, and topped with club soda.
The Bolivian Rhapsody
Ingredients: 1.5oz AGWA, ½ fresh lime, 1 tsp. raspberry jam, 1 tsp. vanilla sugar, 1 dash
cardamom bitters, 1 tsp. chocolate syrup
Method: Muddle lime, sugar, jam, and syrup; top with crushed ice in Collins glass. Add
AGWA and bitters and stir. Garnish: lime zest
The Rainforest Caipirinha
Ingredients: AGWA, Lime wedges, Brown sugar, Ice, Cane swizzle stick
Method: Muddle AGWA, lime wedges, brown sugar together, mix with crushed ice.
Garnish with a cane swizzle stick.
Want to try a signature AGWA cocktail that works all year round? You can never
go wrong with a classic recipe, the Bolivian Mojito, AGWA’s twist on the traditional
drink, or the lime ritual, known as “Kryptonice.”
Bolivian Mojito:
Ingredients: 1.5oz Frozen AGWA, 12 mint leaves, 2-3 lime wedges, 2 tsp. sugar, 7oz club
soda, splash of your favorite rum.
Method: Gently crush the mint leaves in a long glass.  Squeeze the limes over the crushed
mint, and add the sugar and crushed ice.  Add the AGWA, your favorite rum, and club
soda and stir well.  Garnish with a fresh lime wedge and fresh mint leaves.
The AGWA shot, also known as “Kryptonice”, is also a favorite.  Simply pour frozen
AGWA in a shot glass and serve with a lime wedge!

Cowpokes – Naked Cowboys? Those Sheets are SO GAY!

Gunsmoke meets Tom of Finland!

If your mother comes to visit, these may not be sheets for her…

Vice Merchants, a rebelliously luxe bedding company, has released “Cowpokes,” a full line of sheets, pillowcases and throws aimed at gay men. Made from 100 percent Egyptian cotton, 400 thread count, fine Sateen bedding fabric, “Cowpokes” features a ranch scene of playfully undressed men engaging in acts of whimsical outdoor fun and farm work, while frolicking in the buff! Illustrated by K. Commodore, cows, horses and tractors further set the scene as hot men work hard and play hard in the foreground.

They are very high quality and soft, as me and my man, rolled around in the hay, on them this past weekend!

“We’re enthusiastic to expand our brand to cater to the gay community,” Jake Katz, president of Vice Merchants said. “’Cowpokes’ is a design unlike any other that allows gay men to spice up their bedroom in a subtle, yet enticing and playful manner. With these sheets, every night can feel like a sweaty day with the boys on the ranch.”

Vice Merchants is a company that believes your bedding should be as sexy and as much fun as bedtime activities. The company specializes in fine bedding that brings edgy, richly hued graphics created by illustrators.

They worked with Brooklyn-based artist K. Commodore has an M.A. degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, to create these fun sheets. Her work is known for its insightful and witty look at human sexuality, and has been exhibited in numerous galleries throughout the United States and Europe.

When asked, What was the motivation behind the fun farm setting???

Artists Katie Commodoresaid,” We all got together to brainstorm the next pattern and decided to go with a traditional toile. My art has always been about usurping traditional mediums or styles and using them as a vehicle for portraying sexuality. So the idea of taking a traditional toile and using fun homoerotic imagery made perfect sense! Traditional toile, which first became fashionable in the 16th century, has images of pastoral scenes; what’s more pastoral than cowboys and farm hands???

She says that some  other scenarios considered as well, “Oh Yes! Some of which we will make in the future! But there are only so many drawings I can work on at once!”

“Cowpokes” is available in all sheet sizes with prices ranging from $99 for a Twin Long Sheet set to $235 for a King Sheet set. The print is also available in duvet and sham sets, bed skirts, and throw pillows. A complete nine-piece bedding set can be purchased in Full for $399; Queen for $439; King (and California King) for $499.

You  won’t find these at Macy’s but you can order them now, discreetly online. And they will be shipped in a plain brown box. VIce Merchants.

Chicago’s JoJo Baby and Sal-E topic of new Art Book….Getting Into Face

Legendary club kid, doll maker, makeup artist, costumer, and penis-sculpture enthusiast JoJo Baby costars with his clubbing companion, Sal-E, in Bernard Colbert’s lush new  12″ x 12″ coffee-table book Getting into Face: 52 Mondays Featuring Jojo Baby and Sal-e
(Schiffer).

Bernard’s lifelong passion is to capture high energy, emotionally charged portraits of interesting people.

For 17 years, Bernard has been perfecting his craft, working in the field of commercial and advertising photography.

‘In the vibrant community where I live and work, I find what I have
always been searching for- a sublime energy. Nightlife activity blends
with the arts and diversity of self expression abounds. Here, I can
freely pursue my dream: to document and celebrate that spark within,
which defines the unique nature of our human experience.’

GETTING INTO FACE is a visual feast in the tradition of 1990s club kids. See
performance artists JoJo Baby and Sal-E use their bodies as canvases to
become inspired and whimsical conceptual characters, executed with
expert skill using original, theatrical makeup and costumes. In more
than 100 portraits, photographer Bernard Colbert rigorously captures
these two performance artists in genius moments as psychedelic Hindi
gods, comic book villains, fantastical creatures, astronauts, and much,
much more.

Colbert’s stunning portraits document these delightful
transformations over a five-year period and are the same body of work
featured in the Clive Barker documentary titled JoJo Baby. Through
Colbert’s collaboration with JoJo and Sal, viewers can experience a
front row seat to an ongoing show which has been entertaining club goers
in Chicago for two decades. This is a portfolio for the visually
adventuress and fans of true creative vision.

Every Monday night, JoJo Baby with friend Sal-E have gone to work as
hosts of Chicago’s largest and longest running house-music dance party,
the Boom Boom Room, which is currently on hiatus from its usual location
at Green Dolphin St., 2220 N. Ashland Ave., while the building
undergoes renovation. It took the duo hours to prepare, and Colbert was
there every week to capture the endlessly entertaining process. He said
he usually only had 10 to 15 minutes to photograph them before they went
on stage.

“Sometimes they would show up and I would look at what they were
wearing and try and quickly comprehend what they were up to, because
sometimes it’s high concept and it’s not obvious right away,” Colbert
said. “It’s interesting right away, but it’s like, ‘What the heck is
going on?’ So I scramble and try and make it happen.”

Colbert, who took courses in commercial photography at Columbia from
1989–1991, said he loves portrait photography and has been drawn to
performers such as models, musicians and athletes—people who are both
interesting and like being photographed.

The combination of unplanned imagination and spontaneity kept Colbert
continually inspired. He said the most successful images captured an
indescribable magic that would often occur.

“It was something that would elevate it from an interesting time to
really high art, and it’s something that fascinates me,” Colbert said.
“It feels elusive, but when you find that you can do it time and time
again, it’s really fun to keep trying to do it.”

Taschen Books As Investments

“TASCHEN books are almost designed to be collectible.
It’s very common for a TASCHEN book to gain value almost instantly.”

—Richard David, Abebooks

Since the TASCHEN adventure began in 1980, it has been our goal to make
the greatest books in the world. Whatever the subject and whatever the
retail price—from $10 to $10,000—we strive to produce, design, and
package each of our books beautifully, with a great deal of care and
attention to detail. The collectors who buy a limited edition book early
on will have, in addition to a rare and exceptional book, the added
benefit of seeing their asset appreciate;
our collector’s editions have
been known to have their value multiply, in some cases reaching ten
times their original price.

Here are a few examples:
I was in South Beach in 2000, at the Delano gift shop, and saw the Helmut Newton book with the stand! It was magnificent. I WANTED IT SO BAD – but I just could not afford it at the time. WHO KNEW it would SOAR in Value!!!
I think I bought my first Taschen book, in the 1980s. It was a Tom of Finland
book.  Of course, it was just a regular edition. Nothing super collectible. But I loved the titles and topics they published.

Lovers of beautiful books adore Taschen. A publisher of art books, Taschen
was created by Benedikt Taschen in 1980 in Cologne, Germany. It was
originally centered on comics only, when the then-18-year-old Taschen
found himself with an enormous collection of new, rare and collectible
comics, and decided to set up a (25 meters square) shop to display and
sell them. It went so well that by the end of the 1980s, Taschen titles
could be found in multiple languages at prices reasonable enough to make
art more accessible to everyone.

Now, 39 years after its inception, the company’s mission has long
been to publish innovative, beautifully designed art books at prices
that don’t alienate or limit the audience, and they have seven offices
employing over 150 staff. Taschen is well known for its abundant,
gorgeous coffee-table art books, its impressive selection of comics and
graphic novels, and for never shying away from potentially controversial
subject matter, sexuality in particular. While many of their
publications run to design, décor and artist profiles, many taboo or
underground artistic subjects like sexual fetishism and erotica have
been brought more into mainstream notice and availability thanks to
Taschen.

Gay Pink Dollars – Where to Shop? and Where NOT to Shop!

This was VERY SURPRISING to me! Look who is on the NOT Side!
HARPO and OWN!   Netflix!  Neiman Marcus!!  Oh No!
With no federal employment nondiscrimination protections for LGBT
people, and limited state protections, corporate America has taken the
lead on fair workplace policies. That sentence might make one say,
“Thank goodness for corporations,” but the truth is that it also puts a
burden on the LGBT consumer. We must seek out and support businesses that treat LGBT employees and their families with dignity and respect.
But how do we do that when businesses don’t post their employment
policies in their windows, and even if they did, who wants to read a
manual before walking into a store?
Fortunately there is an easy way to determine which businesses support
LGBT equality, and it’s only a click away. The Human Rights Campaign
Foundation publishes the Corporate Equality Index annually. The CEI
rates the entire Fortune 1,000, the AmLaw 200 (the nation’s top
law firms) and other businesses on their equal employment opportunity
policies, employee benefits, organizational LGBT competency and their
public commitment to equality and responsible corporate citizenship. An
easy search at hrc.org/cei will
show you exactly which companies have shown a commitment to their LGBT
workers, and just as importantly, which companies have failed this large
segment of the workforce.
There is also a great PDF you can read, the reveals a lot about the businesses – good and bad!
So think TWICE, before giving your dollars to someone on the  NOT HERE side.

JC Penny Keeps Pushing the Gay Lesbian Envelope

At this point, I just think One Million Moms need to get lives.

 The group who calls
themselves One Million Moms, despite comprising only 40,000 members, is after JCPenney  once again, this time because of their recent May mailer, which includes a photo of a lesbian couple with their two daughters.

OMM  feel as if this means JCPenney is somehow taking sides, and they
want them to take a “neutral stand.”

What would those sides be, exactly?
Anti-gay vs. pro-gay? Right-wing vs. left-wing? Christian vs.
otherwise? What these women are missing is that JCPenney is taking a “neutral” stand.

Jenny block discussed the issue on Huff Post.

This is about ignorance. It’s about ignorance about the LGBTQ community.
It’s about ignorance about God’s love for everyone. It’s even about
ignorance of simple commerce.

“If they want our business, then we will
not be ignored!”  says  OMM.

Seriously ladies?   JCPenney wants everyone’s business!

Mumbani Fresh Face Anti-Aging Sleep Aid

I heard about this sleeping aid called Mumbani Fresh Face and had to find out more about it.  For people who tend to sleep on their sides or their stomach, I am sure you know  what “morning face”  is!

“Morning Face”, or the lines and wrinkles we see as more prevalent
when we wake up, are caused by sleeping on your side and stomach with
your face constantly pressed against the pillow.

As we age, the wrinkles deepen, especially between the nose and
cheeks, along with the forehead and chin area, eventually making the
facial skin look saggy and droopy. Even at a younger age it takes hours
every morning for the wrinkles to bounce back.

That is why the American
Academy of Dermatology (AAD) cautions that sleeping in certain positions
night after night leads to “sleep lines – wrinkles that become etched
into the surface of the skin and don’t disappear once you are up.
Sleeping on side increases wrinkles on cheeks and chin while sleeping
face – down gives you furrowed brow. To reduce wrinkle formation, the
AAD says, sleep on you back.” Full article But what if we are unable to change our side or stomach sleeping habit? We don’t have to since we now have the Mumbani.

The Mumbani™ Fresh Face pillow is an anti-aging, anti-wrinkle sleep
accessory that will help you lose that irritating “morning face” and
promote healthier, smoother skin!

It is such a simple invention but does the trick – and keeps the face from being smushed into the pillow.

Mumbani™ should be worn nightly over your eyes or on your forehead,
equally effective, it has an adjustable elastic band, so it fits everybody. It has a removable insert pillow and cover are both made to be hand or machine
washed.

$20 is a cheap investment in your face!     Check it out!
