Keeping Up With Mike and Sebastian

Keeping Up with Mike & Sebastian

By Joey Amato

LGBTQ Americans may not have heard of Mike and Sebastian yet, but that is all about to change. The extremely handsome duo is currently living in Vienna, Austria but planning to relocate to Palm Springs in 2023 to start a new life together with their 7-year-old daughter Mia. They will be featured on one of Germany’s most highly watched reality television shows called Goodbye Deutschland.

Mike and Sebastian are local celebrities in German-speaking countries, having been involved in numerous entrepreneurial ventures and frequent guests of the media especially when it comes to speaking about two dad families.

Before we talk about their latest endeavors, here is a bit of background information. Mike was a singer who won Austria’s first TV band casting at the age of 21 and was a member of the pop band Sugarfree, with which he also won Austria´s national music prize “Amadeus”. He then passed the bar exam and in 2011 purchased a facility management company, restructured it, and had a successful business exit in 2022. After that he published the international bestseller “Blake the Drake and the enchanted Egg” which became a #1 bestseller on Amazon.

At the age of 24, Sebastian won a major national competition to develop an app for politics. He won €100,000 and was dubbed “the €100,000 man” in the media. He took over a small family business with a turnover of $250,000 dollars, which he, as sole owner, was able to develop within only a few years into an international player on the prefabricated house market bringing in over $7 million dollars in revenue.

Mike and Sebastian first met in 2015 at an event hosted by friends. Neither of them had planned to attend that night but as fate would have it, Mike immediately caught Sebastian’s eye. Mike had failed to read the invitation carefully and was wearing his provocative Life Ball outfit in the middle of a black-tie affair.

On their third date, Mike broke the news to Sebastian that he was about to become a father to a little girl, which he had made possible with the help of an egg donor and a surrogate mother. Mike’s daughter Mia was born on July 2, 2015.  Much to his surprise, Mike received a loving and deeply touching letter from Sebastian, but it wasn’t addressed to him. It was addressed to Mia.

When Mike returned with baby Mia, the couple embarked on life together—not in a cozy, romantic relationship for two, but as two young dads getting used to everyday life with a small child. It wasn’t always easy, but the bond grew stronger, and their love stood the test of time. A deep understanding for their partner’s struggles and mutual, unconditional support of one another are integral parts of Mike and Sebastian’s life together today.  With Mia by their side, Mike and Sebastian were married in Bora Bora in 2021.

The dynamic duo is invested in making the Mike&Sebastian brand just as successful on the American market as it is in German-speaking countries. “In concrete terms, this means bringing a critical mass into contact with our family concept so that it is anchored as normal in the public eye. We’re talking about 10%-14% of society. Dream BIG,” Mike says enthusiastically.

“As role models for gay men who want a family, it is important to us to bring this understanding of family to the public,” mentions Sebastian. “Goodbye Deutschland has a reach of 1,600,000 viewers in German-speaking countries. This brings our vision of normalizing 2dadfamilies a long way.”

The couple is also in the process of turning their social media and media activities into their full-time job. Being on such a successful and popular show is a great step in that direction.

Mike and Sebastian have committed to producing one season, however, there are couples who have been on the show regularly for 15 years and the production company has already indicated a long-term partnership. The show will visit Mike and Sebastian once they arrive in Palm Springs to follow their surrogacy journey also be present during the birth of their second child. They were planning on welcoming him in August, but nature had other plans. “After a long search for a new egg donor (unfortunately, Mia’s egg donor was no longer able to donate) we found our perfect match and now have 4 embryos again, although the first transfer just didn’t work. Of course, this is disappointing for us, but we are still in good spirits, knowing that the baby that is meant for us will come to us.”

Two successful gay men can move anywhere in the world, so why Palm Springs? “Palm Springs is like a dream come true for us,” mentions Mike. “Same-sex marriage has only been legal in Austria since 2019, so you can imagine how the population is attuned to homosexuals. We are not confronted with violence there, but with disregard, ignorance, and exclusion. Hardly a day goes by that we don’t hear a whisper behind our backs.”

The couple has learned to live with it, but suddenly it began to affect their daughter Mia because nearly none of her friends have ever heard of the fact that same-sex couples can have children. Children don’t mean it badly, of course, but Mia grows up with the suggestion from those around her that it’s not ok the way her family is. She was even called a liar because she confidently said that two men can of course have a baby, which is how it is with us. “One of the things we want to do with the move to Palm Springs is to take the pressure off of this situation.”

They also wanted their second child to grow up in a more inclusive environment and thought Palm Springs would be the perfect location.

“Because of our second baby, we considered taking part in the surrogacy process in the United States and moving to California,” Sebastian explains. “We checked out a few places but fell in love with Palm Springs immediately when we visited. We had a very special feeling there, we couldn’t classify it at first and then we were able to name it: Hey – nobody whispers behind our backs. We are “normal” here – we do not belong to a minority but to a majority. It was unbelievable for us, and we want the same for Mia and our second baby, so it happened that we made long-term plans to emigrate, and now the time has finally come.”

The couple will hit the ground running as soon as they land. They have a temporary place to live but will immediately begin looking for a home and office. In fact, Mia begins school just two days after they arrive in the city.

Bianca del Rio and Lady Bunny on Hateful Hags Network

Hateful, sassy and sometimes lewd and crude!   Lady Bunny and Bianca Del Rio team up for a  Vimeo event called  HATEFUL HATES NETWORK.

(From INSTINCT Magazine)- For drag performers, performing during these challenging times has proven to cause performers to be beyond inventive. From shows direct from their living rooms to Brandon Voss’ Drive ‘N Drag nationwide series, queens have managed to keep their art alive and thriving during this time. Sherry Vine & Jackie Beat for example, have continued their famed Battle of the Bitches shows live online, (the most recent was the Halloween themed Battle of the Witches) and another famed duo is about to hit our small screens with their own patented brand of twisted comedy.

Legendary Wigstock creator/DJ/drag legend Lady Bunny and RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6 winner turned stand up drag sensation Bianca Del Rio are co-anchoring HHN: Hateful Hags Network, a roast/cable news channel hybrid, where they will be delivering everything from filthy jokes to a a musical number, in only the way this duo can. They promise equal opportunity hate for RuPaul’s Drag Race queens from all seasons, tossing in some costume changes and…a surprise guest?

Lady Bunny exclusively tells EW “Enough with COVID and politics. It’s time for something really important… back-stabbing drag queens!”  while Bianca Del Rio adds: “Due to COVID, some ‘Drag Race’ queens have opened OnlyFans accounts. Bunny and I would never do that. Not because of any moral objections — because we’re ugly!”

Tune in to ‘HHH: Hateful Hags Network’ on Thursday, November 12th at 8PM EST. Tickets are $9.99 at Vimeo.

The Boys in the Band is a classic gay play by Mart Crowley. The play premiered Off-Broadway in 1968, and was revived with an all star male cast on Broadway for its 50th anniversary in 2018.
The story is about a  group of gay men gather for a birthday party in 1968 New York City, only to find the drinks and laughs interrupted when a visitor from the host’s past turns the evening upside down.
More than fifty years after Mart Crowley’s play became an unexpected smash hit for putting gay men’s lives center stage with honesty and humor, THE BOYS IN THE BAND returns to the screen in a new adaptation that reunites acclaimed director Joe Mantello with the all-star cast of the Tony-winning, 2018 Broadway production.
See a clip from the original movie version.
In 1968 New York City – when being gay was still considered to be best kept behind closed doors – a group of friends gather for a raucous birthday party hosted by Michael (Jim Parsons), a screenwriter who spends and drinks too much, in honor of the sharp-dressed and sharp-tongued Harold (Zachary Quinto). Other partygoers include Donald (Matt Bomer), Michael’s former flame, now mired in self-analysis; Larry (Andrew Rannells), a randy commercial artist living with Hank (Tuc Watkins), a school teacher who has just left his wife; Bernard (Michael Benjamin Washington), a librarian tiptoeing around fraught codes of friendship alongside Emory (Robin de Jesús), a decorator who never holds back; and a guileless hustler (Charlie Carver), hired to be Harold’s gift for the night. What begins as an evening of drinks and laughs gets upended when Alan (Brian Hutchison), Michael’s straight-laced college roommate, shows up unexpectedly and each man is challenged to confront long-buried truths that threaten the foundation of the group’s tight bond.

Did Lisa Vanderpump talk Nene Leakes out of opening a gay bar?

In a recent interview with Jenny McCarthy for her SiriusXM radio show, NeNe accused Lisa of tricking her out of buying bar/ restaurant space in West Hollywood, California — space that the restauranteur then turned into PUMP.

A source close to PUMP’s landlord told DailyMail.com that the accusations weren’t true, but now an insider tight with NeNe is backing up her story to In Touch. “It all started when Nene expressed interest in opening a bar in an empty space in West Hollywood,” they said. “She called Lisa for advice, who told her, something like, ‘Darling it’s a piece of crap and it’s too expensive,’ and convinced her it was a bad investment deal … According to NeNe, shrewd Lisa swooped in and rented the space which became her hugely successful restaurant and bar called PUMP, which is always packed.”

However, another source close to the entrepreneur denied the allegations against Lisa to In Touch, saying “The same landowner from SUR had brought the space to Lisa’s attention.”

“She knows that we have a little something, something she did to me. I’ve never really addressed it,” Leakes tellsMcCarthy in the clip. “She did some real foul s— to me.”

NeNe  reveals that a few years ago, when she and her husband Gregg were living in Los Angeles, she wanted to open a bar in West Hollywood.

“We would ride down that West Hollywood area where all the gay bars are — and I have a large gay fan base — and I kept thinking ‘it would be so cool if I had a bar right in here somewhere.’”

Leakes explains to host Jenney how she stumbled on a space that was “empty and kind of raggedy-looking and torn down,” but thought it would be perfect.

That’s when she made a call to restaurateur Vanderpump for advice.

“She said, ‘Oh darling, darling, it’s a piece of crap and they’re charging so much for it darling,’” Leakes said. “She talked me off of it and then went and got it.”

“That’s so f—ed up,” she added.

Vanderpump’s restaurant SUR is featured on the Bravo series “Vanderpump Rules,” and she opened PUMP in 2014. She also owns Villa Blanca in Beverly Hills.

Nene says she has not addressed Lisa directly about feeling dissed by her power move.

“Now when she sees me, she’s like ‘Hi NeNe,” Leakes explained.

Chance Perez Kisses Michael Conor Boy Band

Be still my heart!  Loving the new  show  BOY  BAND.

In the first few weeks, I found the show kind of  insulting to gay people. I sent them a note  stating, Yes you have boys in bands, Yes, they have girl fans. But I am sure they have some boy fans too. American Idol and X factor do the same thing. They alienate the gay fans. Just says FANS. Don’t make it heterosexual.

Recently I noticed  they have stopped  doing  that.

I  love  both  Chance  and  Michael.  And when  Chance  appeared to kiss  Michael  on the  cheek  recently,  I thought  WOW!~  Could  he  or  they  be  gay?  I hope so.  That would be great if they came  out.

It’s  funny,  on  YouTube,  NBC  has the clip,  with the KISS  DELETED.  I shot this  video,  from  my  TV  screen.

Will & Grace RETURN! Sneak Peaks

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG
It’s almost here….I don’t  want summer  to fly  by….but I kind of  do!

NBC’s “Will & Grace” returns for a 12-episode run beginning this Fall.

Original series creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan will serve as writers, show-runners and executive producers. Legendary director James Burrows, who helmed every episode of the show during its initial eight-year run, will direct and executive produce.

For you YOUNGIN’S, who only  know who RuPaul is and her drag race, THIS AMAZING SHOW was broadcast on NBC from September 21, 1998 to May 18, 2006, for a total of eight seasons. The show was the highest-rated sitcom among adults 18–49, from 2001 and 2005.

But, what is more important, is THIS SHOW,

shaped public opinion, of  gay people!

Vice President Joe Biden made history on NBC’s Meet the Press this morning, becoming the highest-ranking U.S. official to openly endorse equal marriage rights for gay and lesbian citizens. In explaining his thinking, Biden credited Will & Grace — NBC’s hit situation comedy about a gay man and his straight, female best friend that ran on the network from 1998 to 2006 — as having done more to shift public perception on the issue than anything else.

Throughout its eight-year run, Will & Grace earned 16 Emmy Awards and 83 nominations. All four stars each received an Emmy Award throughout the series, making it one of only three sitcoms in the award’s history to achieve this feat. In 2014 the Writers Guild of America placed the sitcom at number 94 in their list of the 101 Best Written TV series of all time.

Harvey Fierstein J Lo LGBT Youth

“I think [younger LGBTQ people] think that the big struggle was getting gay marriage passed. Young people growing up right now see Zachary Quinto or Neil Patrick Harris in major motion pictures or on television, and think it’s always been this good. I think they have no idea how we would be arrested in the streets, and kept from ever feeling normal. I grew up when people didn’t believe it when you told them Liberace was gay. Liberace!

Now there are museums, community centers and so many resources. There are plenty of books that didn’t exist before. Our history was just so sucked away from us and not allowed, and now we’re reclaiming that history. But remember, there were gays in Hitler’s army, and then all of a sudden you turn around and we’re in concentration camps. You cannot forget that. You need to know that that can happen at any moment.”—Harvey Fierstein, talking to The Hollywood Reporter

I have to agree.  Many  young people  do not  know  their  roots  and  LGBT history.

IN  OTHER  NEWS…..

Jennifer Lopez is set to star as Rosie in NBC’s next musical event, Bye Bye Birdie Live!  with  HARVEY  FIERSTEIN!

Now Harvey Fierstein, who is adapting the book and lyrics for the song-and-dance show, has revealed that he is making it less ‘sexist and old-fashioned’.

The 1960 Tony-winning Broadway musical, which inspired the 1963 film, centers on married songwriter-agent Albert and his sweetheart-lover secretary Rosie.

They stage a publicity stunt for famous singer Conrad Birdie (originally based on Elvis Presely) before he’s drafted to the army.

‘I want to be true to the time it takes place but at the same time, having Rosie be Albert’s secretary whom he’s having an affair with, is a little sexist and old-fashioned,’ Harvey said in the interview published in The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday.

‘I didn’t see any reason for that. So I changed that.

‘I made them both high school teachers…He’s the English teacher who writes a song, and she’s the music teacher who says, “I’ve got a great kid with a great voice.”

‘He ends up being Conrad Birdie, who’s supposed to only take one summer off to promote the record but turns into a star,’ he added.

‘It’s been eight years and Rosie just wants to go back to their real lives. It really makes a lot more sense that way.’

The song that opens the musical, An English Teacher, will be altered to suit the new story line, and some of the scenes and songs will be re-ordered to fit live television.

J-Lo also wanted the story to highlight Rosie’s struggle as a Puerto Rican woman about to hit middle age in a relationship with a man afraid of commitment.

That plotline was in the original musical but was cut out of the 1963 film.

Harvey added: ‘Jennifer Lopez knows what she wants out of performing.’

NBC will air Bye Bye Birdie Live! in December but has yet to reveal the exact date.

Nick Jonas and Gay Baiting

nick jonas gay baiting

I PERSONALLY, think it’s GREAT when celebrities go out of their way to tackle  gay projects  and  include  their gay fans. It’s  NOT  gay baiting.

In his profile of Jonas, Chadwick Moore writes,

As an album of R&B and pop, Nick Jonas received mostly positive reviews from critics, one of whom declared it as filling “the hole currently vacated by Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke.” However, that same reviewer, echoing the sentiments of many, accused Jonas of taking “a page out of the James Franco playbook, courting the LGBT community, aggressively working both the gay press and New York City’s club circuit.”

The accusations of gay baiting and opportunism have left Jonas a bit wounded. “It’s not the majority, but a large handful have a negative opinion for whatever reason,” he says, “and I think it’s really quite sad.” Still, regardless of whether he’s playing footsie with the LGBT community, his work is starting to speak for itself.

Jonas has perhaps gone out of his way to be LGBT-friendly, playing gay roles on the shows Kingdom and Scream Queens (well, let’s just say his character’s sexuality on Scream Queens is complicated). And Jonas says he has enjoyed playing those characters. Of the closeted MMA fighter he plays on Kingdom, Jonas says.

“It’s been a great character to play,” says Jonas, “one that I try to be respectful of and take myself out of. He’s on his own path.”

To prepare for the part, he spoke to some of his closest friends, some of whom were raised in conservative families, about their coming-out experiences. “It was a good way to research,” says Jonas, “to kind of build the character with some elements of real life.”

You can read the full interview with Jonas here.

Jonas told L’Uomo Vogue,

“It’s an honor, but I don’t think of myself as a  GAY  icon. There should be a lot more straight artists who don’t have a problem with having gay fans. I’m really proud to play gay characters and I’ll continue to do so. I think it’s among the challenges of maturing as an actor”

Jonas has been accused of queer-baiting in the past, though he says it’s not intentional. Jonas also recently refused to say whether or not he had sexually experimented with men: “I can’t say if I have or haven’t…”   HMMMMMMM

Colton Haynes is Officially GAY

It’s finally official!  HE’S   GAY!

JANUARY,  actor Colton Haynes came out as gay in a coy post on Tumblr in response to a fan’s question about his “secret gay past.”

The Tumblr post that caught Haynes attention reads, “when I found out colton haynes had a secret gay past i got so excited even though i know it makes absolutely no difference in my life.” Haynes replied by writing, “Was it a secret? Let’s all just enjoy life & have no regrets :).”

HOT  GIFS  OF  COLTON HERE!

At 27, Colton Haynes is ready to live his own life on his own terms.

“People want you to be that GQ image that you put out, but people don’t realize what it’s like to act 24 hours a day. I’d go home and I was still acting,” the “Arrow” star shared of his sexuality with Entertainment Weekly. “People who are so judgmental about those who are gay or different don’t realize that acting 24 hours a day is the most exhausting thing in the world.”

Haynes, who had come out as gay to family, friends and co-workers early on, wasn’t prepared to face the masses in January after he responded to a Tumblr post about his “secret” gay past.

“I should have made a comment or a statement, but I just wasn’t ready. I didn’t feel like I owed anyone anything. I think in due time, everyone has to make those decisions when they’re ready, and I wasn’t ready yet,” he said.” But I felt like I was letting people down by not coming forward with the rest of what I should have said.”

“I asked to step away because I cared more about my mental and physical health than my career at the time,” Haynes explained. “I’ve had terminal anxiety my entire lie. Physically ill, fainting. I’m 27-years-old, and I have and ulcer. I had to step back.”

Finally in a place of ease, Haynes admitted that he has never felt better.

“It took me so long to get to this point, but I’m doing so good,” he noted. “I’m happier than I’ve ever been, and healthier than I’ve ever been, and that’s what I care about.”
