Joe Manganiello and the Male Strippers of La Bare
MALE STRIPPERS! Yeah Baby!
After teasing the Slamdance crowd at its January premiere, male stripper docu La Bare has unzipped its first trailer. True Blood‘s Joe Manganiello, who played Big Dick Richie in Steven Soderbergh and Channing Tatum’s Magic Mike, directed the pic and produced with brother Nick for their 3:59 Inc shingle.
Main Street Films snapped up N.A. and China rights and set a June 27 theatrical release for the film, which goes behind the curtain at La Bare Dallas, the most popular male strip club in the world: WATCH
Joe Manganiello told Vulture:
“Soon after filming Magic Mike, there were the bands that had pulled their songs from the film despite the protests of their record label, the ban of our art/posters on bus stops and billboards due to it being too risqué … And then came the wait for the MPAA rating … And with that, the realization that I indeed had found something new, something fresh, something shocking to show the general public.”
“With Magic Mike, we scratched the surface, and with La Bare, I had the opportunity to plumb the depths of this strange and provocative world hidden in plain sight. Shocking, hilarious, and heartfelt, the film explores every level of the profession in three vivid dimensions.“
