Best Oatmeal Raisin Cookies EVER
So I agreed to sample some cookies I had never heard of; GIMMEE JIMMYS.
A huge 2# tin arrived last night at 5pm. Visions of Chocolate Chip and decadent brownies danced in my head!
I opened the tin! and there they were! NOT.
Instead, I saw Oatmeal Raisin cookies (probably my least favorite cookie on Earth!) and pretty Chocolate Rugelach. (Rugelach, other spellings: rugelakh, rugulach, rugalach, ruggalach, rogelach, rugalah, rugulah, rugala, is a Jewish pastry of Ashkenazic origin. Traditional rugelach are made in the form of a crescent by rolling a triangle of dough around a filling.)
So I grabbed a rugelach first, since it had chocolate in it. DELICIOUS. Soft, fresh, perfect balance in flavors.
So I thought what the heck, let me try one of these oatmeal raisin cookies. I took a small bit at first….it was sweet and chewy, and pretty darn good. I took a second bigger bite. Wow! I told my partner, who also does not like oatmeal raisin to try one. He did. AND WOW WOW! He agreed, this was one of the BEST COOKIES we had ever had. Over the next 3 hours, I hate to admit, we finished off ALL of the oatmeal raisin cookies and half of the regelach, at which point I demanded we freeze the rest, so that we would stop eating the entire tin.

Chick Fil A CEO Tries to Move Foward – But Has Not Changed His Beliefs
Nearly a half century after opening his first Chick-fil-A, Truett Cathy announced in November 2013 he was stepping down as chairman of the restaurant chain and leaving it in the hands of Dan Cathy, his oldest son. Even if Truett is slowing down, his fast-casual juggernaut isn’t. It boosted sales by $500 million to an estimated $4.6 billion in 2012.
DAN CATHY as we know has donated MILLIONS $$$ to groups who are against gay people and even including ones that want to criminalize and deport gay “pedophiles”. Dan Cathy has repeatedly made statements opposing same-sex marriage.
I think the time of truths and principles are captured and codified in God’s word and I’m just personally committed to that, [Cathy] said. I know others feel very different from that and I respect their opinion and I hope that they would be respectful of mine.
He recently talked with the Atlanta Journal-Constition and admits his beliefs have NOT changed, but yet he wants his business to move beyond his personal beliefs.
Almost two years after he made headlines by throwing his support behind traditional marriage and later decried a pair of Supreme Court decisions that favored same-sex unions, Cathy hasn’t changed his mind. “We just wanted to spread the news that Bertolli welcomes everyone, especially those with an empty stomach.”
Adweek notes that the company has produced gay-themed ads in the past.
Barilla Pasta tells gays: ‘Eat another brand’
of Italy’s biggest advertisers, and for many years has used the image of
a happy family living in an idealised version of the Italian
countryside, with the slogan: “Where there’s Barilla, there’s home.”

voice support for a boycott.

Last week’s issue of People Magazine had the most
disgusting ad on the inside front cover that we have ever seen Kraft
produce. A full 2-page ad features a n*ked man lying on a picnic blanket
with only a small portion of the blanket barely covering his g*nitals.
It is easy to see what the ad is really selling. A person has to look
closely to see the item the company is marketing because the salad
dressing bottle is so small next to the male model, picnic basket and
other food items. There is also a small Kraft logo in the upper corners
with the words “Silverware Optional – Let’s Get Zesty.” The website
getmezesty.com is listed in the bottom corner.Kraft has gone too far and will push away loyal, conservative
customers with this new ad campaign. Christians will not be able to buy
Kraft dressings or any of their products until they clean up their
advertising. The consumers they are attempting to attract – women and
mothers – are the very ones they are driving away. Who will want Kraft
products in their fridge or pantry if this vulgarity is what they
represent?One Million Moms cannot get over the gall of this company. It is
unnecessary for Kraft to use s*x to sell salad dressing! (An asterisk is

Chick-fil-A HAS NOT changed their Anti Gay Donation Policy
How did this happen??
Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy told Mike Huckabee that contrary to reports announced this week
by Chicago LGBT rights group The Civil Rights Agenda and Chicago
alderman Joe Moreno, Chick-fil-A has NOT agreed to end its anti-gay
donations.

I talked earlier today personally with
Dan Cathy, CEO of Chick Fil-A about the new reports that Chick Fil-A had
capitulated to demands of the supporters of same sex marriage. This is
not true. The company continues to focus on the fair treatment of all of
its customers and employees, but to end confusion gave me this
statement:
“There continues to be erroneous implications in the
media that Chick-fil-A changed our practices and priorities in order to
obtain permission for a new restaurant in Chicago. That is incorrect.
Chick-fil-A made no such concessions, and we remain true to who we are
and who we have been.”
In part, the press release from CRA states: September 18, 2012 – Chicago, Illinois – The Civil Rights Agenda (TCRA),
Illinois’ leading lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil
rights advocacy organization, has learned that Alderman Moreno has
finalized his negotiations with Chick-Fil-A. Alderman Moreno has
confirmed that Chick-fil-A will no longer give money to anti-gay
organizations and that they have clarified in an internal document that
the company will treat every person equally, regardless of sexual
orientation. The Civil Rights Agenda worked closely with the Alderman in
an advisory role as he negotiated these concessions with the executives
at Chick-fil-A. Additionally, members of TCRA spoke directly with
executives at Chick-fil-A during negotiations to aid in educating their
decision makers about anti-discrimination policies and issues affecting
the LGBT community.
We have called both Alderman Moreno AND the Civil Rights Agenda –
Anthony Martinez from TCRA said, “We
would like clarification from Mr. Cathy and Alderman Moreno on this
matter. Chick-fil-A either lied or they are being very stealth about how
they characterize this matter with their base.”
And The Bible Says…..
According to Leviticus 11:7-8
“And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. You shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.”
Dan Cathy’s hypocrisy is interesting–because the Bible says not to eat pork yet Chick Fil A serves bacon and sausage for breakfast.
I wonder how Cathy decides which passages in the Bible to support. The Bible also supports slavery including selling our daughter into slavery etc etc but everyone seems to ignore that. It’s funny how people will twist the bible to their own choosing….
Orero for Gay Pride Goes Viral
This week OREO posted a photoshopped PRIDE cookie on their Facebook page that went viral.
It also stirred up some haters.
Facebook user Jeff Tulloch writes, “No gay pride I boycott now.” Lacy
Wheeler Anderson sadly posts, “I love oreos but will no longer be
buying them because of this,” while another user, Cody Patterson
comments, “disliked Oreo page just because of this one post. Think about
how much business u just killed oreo. I can’t support a business that
supports gays.” Some people even said things like gay people need to be killed.
A couple Boycott Oreo Facebook pages have also been
created in response to the Pride cookie, but so far has only gathered 4 LIKES.
Even if you don’t eat OREO’S please leave them a positive comment, for them showing their gay pride support!

Breath Slim – A New Way to Lose Weight
It’s that time of year – that many of us over-indulge and many people put “weight loss” or “diet” on their New Years Resolution list.
I just read about this new device that sounds amazing. LOSE FAT without exercising. This is not a fad, but in fact based on years of scientific studies.
In the early 90’s, a group of international scientists and enthusiasts
decided to turn their research to an ancient healing art that has been
practiced for tens of thousands of years.
Their research proved that while different breathing methods produce different results, all of them had a therapeutic effect. Scientists discovered that calmer and slower breathing allows the body to retain more of its vital resources.
A couple years ago a personal trainer told me that deep breathing exercises can help with weight loss,
relaxation, and sense of well being. Most of us do not breath
properly, or deep enough, and only breath air
up into our chest. Look at yourself in the mirror. Your lungs hang all
the way down toward the bottom of your rib cage. More than likely,
you’re not filling them up with the precious air they need. Most of us
inflate just the upper portion.
In 1996, their research led to the development of the world’s first
respiratory training device (FRTD). The FRTD, a state-of-the-art
breathing device that remedies diseases of the respiratory,
cardiovascular and nervous systems, is patented and registered in many
countries including the United States. The Food and Drug Administration
of U. S. (FDA) approved it in 1998. More than 3 million FRTD devices
have been sold all over the world.
Studies have shown that not only was the FRTD effective at treating asthma
and hypertension, but in the first month of treatment, more than 82%
of patients using the FRTD also noticed a drop in excess weight.
Scientists from the U. S., Europe and the Russian Federation began
to conduct even more research, discovering that the delivery of extra
oxygen burned through fat through a process called oxidation. They
discovered that it takes about 16 pounds of oxygen to burn two pounds
of excess weight. So with the FRTD, people’s blood streams were filled
with about 24 percent oxygen which couldn’t help but increase the
oxidation (or burning) of fat. They also discovered that with the
delivery of extra oxygen also reduced food cravings.
The BreathSlim device is a specially made cup and breathing “hose”. And the entire process is quite simple.The BreathSlim method is based on exercising your breathing, using resistance to exhalation. Resistance in the lungs increases the pressure of the air, and more oxygen begins to circulate through the blood. You feel your lungs stretch and expand like they are meant to. That extra oxygen you
give your body moves through your bloodstream, slightly
increasing your flow, and helps get rid of excess waste and fat.
It was a little tricky at first – you will have to practice a bit to get the hang of it. But if you spend about 10 minutes a day, you should see results. They advise that you work up to 20 minutes a day for optimal results.
They also recommend exercising in the evening before going to bed. This
allows you to reduce signs of fatigue tiredness after working day and
improves the quality of your sleep. I found it very relaxing in fact.

Healthy Choice for Fast Food…Will Taco Bell Offer Vegan?

It was about 1998, I decided to start working out and started making better food choices. But at that time, it was hard to find anything healthy at fast food joints.
I think around 2000, some places started offering grilled chicken sandwiches an option. And in the years that followed, more and more healthy choices were added to many menus. Now you can even get fresh apple slices and yogurt for desert!
The next evolution is really vegan choices. The more I learn about how animals are treated for our consumption, it’s disgusting. DID YOU KNOW? Over 99% of cruelty to animals in the United States occurs at the hands of the meat, dairy, and egg industries – which confine, mutilate, and slaughter over 9 billion animals each year.
DID YOU ALSO KNOW, that only 40% meat is required, to be called “beef”? What’s the other 60%???
There are so many vegetarian/vegan choices these days. And I think America is ready for it. Could Taco Bell be the leader?
There has been a lot of media attention this week over the recent lawsuit against Taco Bell, alleging the company’s “meat mixture” contains only 36 percent meat instead of the 40 percent required to fit the definition of beef. But Mercy For Animals has a solution to Taco Bell’s problem that could be a win-win for everyone, especially the animals who are cruelly slaughtered for meat.

In fact, the National Restaurant Association says that vegan menu options are a “hot trend” for 2011.
