Flying with a Therapy Dog
A therapy dog is trained to provide comfort and affection to people. Therapy dogs are widely used at hospitals, retirement and nursing homes, hospices, schools and even disaster areas. People who have learning disabilities also use therapy dogs as a means of building their self confidence for learning.
Research has found that therapy dogs help make people feel better. Interacting with therapy dogs is said to ‘temporarily affect the release of some of the brain’s neurotransmitters, including dopamine and oxytocin, while cortisol levels decrease.’
Therapy dogs are either therapeutic visitation dogs, animal-assisted therapy dogs and facility therapy dogs. However, they also work alongside people who need a companion beside them at all times.
Therapy dogs are typically well tempered dog breeds and don’t shed excessively, which allows most people to interact with the dog. They’re also well socialized with various environments and people. That lets the dog feel comfortable with traveling around and being exposed to different people and environments. In this article, we’re going to examine what people should know when flying with therapy dogs.
Flying with therapy dogs in the United States
People are allowed to go flying with therapy dogs in the United States. There are, however, rules and regulations they must follow before boarding a plane with their companion.
In order to fly with a therapy dog in the United States, the dog’s owner must have appropriate documentation.
This documentation needs to be reported at least 48 hours before the person’s scheduled flight departure time. Regulations concerning that matter require that requests to go flying with a therapy dog are reported during that time frame, allowing the airline to verify the documentation with the owner’s doctor. In other words, the airline won’t allow therapy dog owners who haven’t previously contacted the airline in advance to board their flight with their dog in tow.
The therapy dog documentation letter needs to be drafted from the dog owner’s mental health doctor and possess a professional letterhead. It also must not be more than a year old. The dog owner also needs to have a mental health disability, meaning their mental illness must physically and mentally impair them from regularly living their life. Other documentation to bring includes the dog’s certification records, health certificates and vaccine records.
People who want to go flying with therapy dogs must take care of getting their pet cleared for flight before even boarding the plane. This allows both owner and pet to be prepared for the flight well in advance.
GAY DOG Escapes Death
The dog dumped at a Tennessee animal
shelter to be destroyed because his owner thought it was gay has been
saved at the last minute by a kindhearted animal lover.
After
the the plight of the American Bulldog mix was seen by millions online,
Stephanie Fryns, a veterinary technician from Jackson, stepped up this
afternoon and adopted him from Jackson TN Euthanasia.
Naming
him Elton, Fryns, who already owns four dogs said that she had planned
to rescue him even before his story had traveled around the Internet.
He was dumped there because according
to the owner of the shelter, the dog’s master noticed him ‘hunched
over’ another male dog, which led him to assume he was gay.
Yesterday
a Facebook user became of aware of his plight after seeing his picture
on the shelter’s timeline and contacted Jackson TN Euthanasia to
discover the reason why he had been left there to be destroyed.
‘His
owner threw him away bc he refuses to have a ‘gay’ dog!’ wrote a user
who calls herself ‘Jackson Madison Rabies Control Stalker’.
‘Don’t
let this gorgeous dog die [because] his owner is ignorant of normal dog
behavior! He’s in kennel 10L and he WILL be put down tomorrow bc there
is no room at the inn!’
Following
an outcry over the Internet numerous people including Stephanie Fryns
arrived at the shelter this morning to adopt the unloved dog.

Say NO To Dog Poop on Your Streets
I don’t know about your city, but in some cities, people are SO LAZY, they don’t bother to pick up their dogs poop! And I am so sick of it! If you own a dog, clean up after it!
The island of Capri (Italy) is going high-tech to deal with an age-old problem: dog
poop.
The mayor of the island, located off the coast of Naples, is determined to
rid Capri of the rather distasteful predicament by using DNA testing.
The small island is a large tourist destination and is home to 7,305 people
owning 1,000 dogs. Unfortunately, some of the residents seem unwilling to scoop
up poop. In order to maintain the pristine setting Capri is famous for, the city
is using technology to track down pet owners who befoul the town by leaving
piles of scat behind.
The mayor plans to take advantage of a law that requires dogs to undergo a
blood test for canine diseases. The city will use the blood to perform DNA tests
on puppy excrement and identify the source of the smelly mess.
Capri’s Mayor justified his DNA testing for doody by claiming: “In the past
there have been unpleasant episodes, like tourists slipping and hurting
themselves.” Additionally, “there have also been unfortunate cases when the
victim didn’t get hurt but had to throw away some spoiled clothes.”
The fine for failing to pick up after your pet is 2,000 Euro. The mayor hopes
the steep penalty will help keep the island clean for visitors and residents
alike. – THINK OF THE MONEY THIS COULD GENERATE!
California Man Stabbed to DEATH by a Cock
A California MAN had the
tables turned on him!
He was killed during an illegal cock fight — after one of the birds stabbed him in the leg. The animal slashed Jose Luis Ochoa with a blade that had been strapped to its foot.
Someone, in their infinite wisdom, thought it smart to attach a knife to the limb of an already most-certainly pissed off rooster. I guess they thought it would improve their chances in the ring–and it definitely raises some interesting questions on what exactly is allowed in a cockfight. At some point after tying a knife to a rooster, someone got stabbed. Jose!
Ochoa had been fined only last year for being involved in the sport. Cockfighting — where two specially-bred roosters are engaged in a pitched battle until one is incapacitated or killed — is illegal in the US.
The 35-year-old was declared dead two hours after he was injured in California.
An autopsy found he had died of an accidental “sharp force injury to his right calf”.
Other spectators fled when cops called to the fight showed up and found five dead roosters.
Sgt Martin King, 24, said he had “never seen this type of incident”.
