Wrestler Mike Pucillo Comes Out

OHIO STATE’s  Mike  Pucillo  come  out.

For months, the NCAA wrestling champion from Ohio State had tried time and again to share his biggest secret, but he couldn’t bring himself to verbalize two words.

Finally, on a December morning, Pucillo reached for his phone and tapped out a lengthy text message to his best friend and college teammate, Reece Humphrey.

The gist of the message was this: I’m gay.

“I think telling him was an unbelievable weight off my shoulders (and) I didn’t think I would feel that good just telling him,” said Pucillo, the first openly gay Division-I national champion wrestler. “Reece has always been someone with a very open mind and I thought maybe he would understand.”

Gays Discriminate Against Christians

gays-against-christians

WHAT IF ….gays  discriminated  against Christians?  We quit doing there flowers, we quit cutting their  hair, we don’t serve them drinks or food in bars or restaurants, we don’t  provide ANY SERVICES FOR THEM?!

This is Truth Wins Out’s second video in its “Religious Freedom Farce” campaign, which highlights the real-world consequences of laws that purport to protect religious liberty, when in reality they only promote exclusion. In our new video, we show how such laws can open a can of worms and backfire on the “Christian” sponsors of such bills.

“If LGBT people can be discriminated against based on faith, so can Christians,” said Truth Wins Out Executive Director Wayne Besen. “There are millions of Americans who are not Christian and may abuse these laws to exclude people based on their Christian beliefs. This, of course, would be unacceptable and wrong, but one of the many unintended consequences of these divisive laws that promote prejudice.”

In our latest ad, a gay man who runs a theater company forbids a Christian from buying tickets to a show after he sees a cross hanging from his neck. Citing the “Church of Harvey Fierstein,” he directs the Christian to go to a theater that shows “Passion of the Christ.” This is a plausible example of what could occur under such ridiculous bills that allow the gutting of anti-discrimination laws based on declarations of “sincere” faith. The video dramatization was created for Truth Wins Out by Chicago-based performance artist Eric Clements and filmmaker Ben Nissen.

“We are actually putting judges in the untenable position of deciding whose faith is sincere and whose is not,” said Truth Wins Out’s Executive Director Wayne Besen. “These laws also violate separation of church and state, because courts will be required to decide which religions are real and which are concocted for the sole purpose of discrimination. But doesn’t that unconstitutionally create ‘acceptable’ state sponsored religions, while others are decaled officially unacceptable?”

The first ad in our campaign, “Religious Freedom Café,” takes these “religious freedom” bills to their logical conclusion. It focuses on an African American man who is told to leave a restaurant because serving black people is against the owner’s religious beliefs.   WATCH  NOW

#TheGaySweater Project

the-gay-sweater-project

You’ve probably heard it, if not said it yourself, but you’ll be certain to think twice about using a phrase like “that sweater is so gay” after hearing this story. A one-of-a-kind, first-ever, truly ‘gay sweater’ will be unveiled today during Toronto Fashion Week. What makes it gay? It is custom knit from the donated hair of more than 100 LGBT people committed to changing the way the word “gay” is used in society today.

gay-hair-sweater-project

Debuting just in time, ahead of this summer’s upcoming Pride Week celebrations in Toronto, New York, San Francisco and London, The Gay Sweater was created by the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity (CCGSD) to spark a rich dialogue on what makes something ‘gay’. Through #TheGaySweater project, they hope people will understand that it is incorrect and offensive to use language like ‘that’s so gay’ to negatively describe something.

A short film showcasing the inspiration behind this #TheGaySweater and the making of this unusual piece can be viewed here: thegaysweater.ccgsd-ccdgs.org

This is pretty cool!

More Supporters #BoycottDolceGabbana

andy cohens dolce gabbana suit

They say any publicity is good publicity…but in the case of Dolce and Gabbana, they must be regretting their comments  right about now!  The public  backlash has been huge!

Bravo host Andy Cohen, who just announced the launch of his own SiriusXM channel, had a special message on the Monday, March 16 episode of Watch What Happens Live! in regards to the comments.

“As a gay man, I’ve seen my friends given an incredible opportunity to create very real families,” Cohen, 46, said. “There’s nothing ‘synthetic’ about any of the kids that call me Uncle Andy. So in the interest of making things a little better, I brought this from my own closet.”

Cohen then pulled out a 2014 black wool Dolce & Gabbana suit, declaring his intention to auction it off and donate all of the proceeds to the Family Equality Council.

“Even though I love this suit, it wouldn’t be fun for me to wear it again,” he said. “But it will be so much fun for me to have you wear it, knowing we were able to support an amazing cause while also screwing Dolce & Gabbana out of at least one sale.”

The suit, which retails for between $1,100 and $2,000, is being auctioned on eBay with a current bid of around $3,500.

Madonna   said   on Instagram:All babies contain a soul however they come to this earth and their families. There is nothing synthetic about a soul!! So how can we dismiss IVF and surrogacy? Every soul comes to us to teach us a lesson. God has his hand in everything even technology! We are arrogant to think Man does anything on his own. As above so below! Think before you speak.,,,,,,,,,,,❤️#livingforlove

Scott Weston aka Cashetta Dies

scott-weston-cashetta-died-2015-puerto-vallarta

An outrageously talented comic, singer, magician & psychic entertainer, Scott Weston aka “Cashetta” passed away suddenly March 16, 2015. He died in Puerto Vallarta Mexico while sleeping, according to friends. The cause of death was not immediately known.

Weston’s Cashetta was born in the late 1980s, when as a teenager, he and his friends “would dress up in the craziest and most artistic outfits we could put together with bits and pieces from craft stores and each other’s mother’s wardrobes.” What began as a dance floor lark, emerged in the mid ’90’s as a professional pursuit.

In a sea of legendary drag stars like Sherry Vine and Jackie Beat, Cashetta would set herself apart with a unique blend of cabaret and comedy. “My favorite memories were every ‘Wigstock’ (street festival) with Lady Bunny, sharpening my comic chops six nights a week at Lips restaurant and being a featured songstress at the legendary Bar d’O with Joey Arias, Raven O and Sade Pendarvis,” Cashetta said.

But it was as a magician that Cashetta would make a mark in the business and lead her to numerous television appearances that included stints on “The Today Show,” “Conan O’Brien” and the “Outlaugh Festival – Wisecrack” on Logo with Margaret Cho.

CASHETTA.com

Weston’s passing is mourned on social media by the scores of show business professionals with whom Cashetta shared a stage. “A talented and hilarious performer and the nicest man ever,” said comedian Jim David, who worked numerous gay cruises with Cashetta.

“An inspiration as a performer and a human. This is such an incredibly sad day.” Said multiple Grammy Award nominated singer Marty Thomas.

In a tribute to Cashetta on her Facebook page, drag artist Gusty Winds wrote: “What I am feeling right now is beyond words. Cashetta firmly believed in the “beyond”, so as soon as she is done harassing Harry Houdini and Totie Fields, I know she is gonna pay me a visit.”

Is James Franco GAY?

james franco gay art interview

Wouldn’t it be great if James Franco and his cute brother Dave Franco were BOTH GAY?

James Franco does  flirt  with sexuality and gayness, that’s  for sure!  With three films slated for this spring—True Story, I Am Michael, and Wim Wenders’s Everything Will Be Fine—James Franco continues to be the busiest man in show business. Actor, director, producer, writer, poet, professor, social media maven, and cultural provocateur, he also continues to challenge us by challenging himself about preconceived concepts of sexuality and how they fit contextually into his art. So it was no surprise when he accepted this challenge to sit down with himself to discuss his life together.

In an interview with DOT 429, the straight James Franco interviews the gay James Franco…..

GayJames: But inevitably people will think that you’re gay; they will think that you’re in Milk, and Howl, and The Broken Tower, and Interior. Leather Bar because you are actually gay. That all these projects are ways of playing gay hide-and-seek.

StriaghtJames: These are all works of art, and art is free; art is its own realm. Of course, they can be read through a biographical lens and, of course, through something like Interior. Leather Bar uses my persona to talk about some of these very issues, but they are still works of art and not exactly nonfictional statements about who I am.

GayJames: Is this interview a nonfictional statement about who you are?

Cam and Mitch Get Divorced?

cam and mitch divorce

Say it isn’t so!!!  Cam and Mitch from Modern Family will file for divorce this season?!

It was a family affair at Modern Family’s PaleyFest panel on Saturday night, when the writers and cast of the hit ABC comedy gathered at the television festival to share personal stories and anecdotes about the show. And it was apparent that this cast really is like a family, and they don’t actually need writers to be funny.

The Season 5 wedding finale was a personal victory for the writers. Levitan said when they started working on the idea of Mitchell and Cameron getting married, “things were still up in the air politically.” But, he added, “We started breaking the story for the wedding because we thought things would go a certain way in terms of the law for gay people to be married.” Once the gay marriage laws were passed in California, the writers spent a year building up to the ceremony.

Julie Bowen, who plays Claire Dunphy,  talked about the  potential storyline for the next season involving television’s leading gay married couple:

We have a very exciting opening to season 7. Cam and Mitch want to get a divorce and they find that gay divorce is not legal and have to spend the entire season fighting for the rights of gays to divorce. It’s an emotional ending..

Is this true??  or  maybe  a joke??

Cory Wade Host & Walk Queer Fashion Week

cory corey wade trans queer

America’s Next Top Model finalist Cory Wade will be taking Queer Fashion Week’s runway as one of the celebrity models.

Wade, who dropped his last name Hindorff recently, will be joined by a top celebrity model, who also recently signed on to walk the QFW catwalk.

On the 20th edition of ANTM, Wade took the show’s host Tyra Banks and crew by storm as one of the first openly gay models. He caused such a stir they asked him back as a guest on the 21 edition.

Now the 24-year old biracial model will be dazzling audiences at the first-ever Queer Fashion Week, April 16 – 19 in Oakland, California.

To see the hottest designers, celebrities and models you have to get your tickets now, http://qfw.eventbrite.com

QFW producer Christine De La Rosa said “Featuring celebrity models alongside seasoned and newly minted models is at the core of Queer Fashion Week.  I wanted to have every level of experience showcased not only in the models but also in the designers.  I believe we are at our best when we are able to break the glass ceiling and bring everyone else with us.  Cory is one of those ceiling breakers and a role model to many in the LGBTQ community.  I am thrilled and honored that he is participating in the inaugural year of QFW.”

The biracial openly gay model from Philadelphia is excited, proud, and a little bit “pissed off” that there hasn’t been a fashion week highlighting LGBT designers and models before now, he said.

At the same time, he believes Queer Fashion Week is a part of a revolution and might even push the boundaries toward change in the fashion industry as Banks wanted him to do on the show. As Wade learned on the show fashion isn’t as all-inclusive and queer-friendly as it is assumed to be, but it showed him “where we actually are as far as fashion is concerned and some of the hurdles that we still have to overcome,” he said.

That’s changing though. He feels that Queer Fashion Week could shake up the fashion world as a part of revolutionary change that’s on the verge of reshaping fashion.

“It’s important that we emphasize that it isn’t important how we classify ourselves sexually, [but by] just showing everyone that we are just as good and just as qualified to be those household names,” said Wade, who is excited to be “on the forefront of the fashion industry really breaking boundaries … starting a movement that is all-inclusive.”

“This could potentially change the fashion industry in a very, very positive way,” he added.

Reflecting on Banks and his experience on the show, “It seemed like she was always in my corner and really wanted me to push the envelope and always wanted me to be that model to like break that boundary in the industry,” said Wade, noting that “a few of the other judges couldn’t stop harping on my femininity.”

Currently, Wade’s experience flipping through the pages of magazines all he sees is the hunky all-American men and the fashions they model don’t exactly fit his style sensibility.

“As a gay man, when I flip through magazines and I see that all-American muscle bound male over and over the first thing I think is, ‘Oh, I can never wear that,'” he said.

Wade believes he’s not alone in wanting to see models who reflect back to him or themselves rather than “the same carbon copy guy just over and over again,” he said.

Sure there are a few transgender models making a name for themselves on the runways and appearing in mainstream fashion magazines, even taking a few covers away from the usual celebrities and supermodels, but he challenged, does anyone know these model’s names?
“You know that they are there, but you can’t name names because they aren’t famous,” said Wade.
Part of the problem is that LGBT people in the fashion industry have made names for themselves behind the scenes as designers, makeup artists, and stylists, but not on the catwalk.
Not to say that designers have it easy. Wade pointed out that he was aware that there were designers designing for the people rather than the runways and fashion magazines, but there is also a huge fear to go all out to create androgynous styles or designs for different body types. It wasn’t clear if there was a market.

“I think that we are at a place now where there are so many people who want to explore different facets of themselves [that] now that there is a market for designers who want to go that route,” said Wade, who hopes the fear to create different lines of clothing fades as people buy and start seeing them in the pages of magazines.

It starts with Queer Fashion Week.

“Something like this, it just makes it I feel like it’s going to give a lot of people hope. Like they are going to see that there are so many different walks of life and they are all beautiful,” said Wade. “It could really change this whole experience. It could really change the whole fashion industry in a very positive way.”

Dolce Gabbana Backtrack after Backlash

mr dolce and gabbana

Fashion designer Stefano Gabbana has vigorously defended his criticism of gay adoptions, using social media to create a range of hashtags and slogans – but none have really taken off.

They say, BOYCOTT  ELTON JOHN! In a post Monday Gabbana shouted “Fascist!” and took direct aim at the singer: “#boycotteltonjohn”. On his Instagram account, as you might expect, there was quite a lot of support for his criticism of Elton John among the hundreds of comments.

#SupportDolceGabbana, has around 2,700 tweets. But both are up against #BoycottDolceGabbana which has been used more than 30,000 times.

Singer Ricky Martin, the father of twins born by a surrogate mother, called on the pair to “wake up” in a message on Twitter, admonishing the designers that their voices were too powerful to spread hate.

NOW, Gabbana said in a statement that “it was never our intention to judge other people’s choices. We do believe in freedom and love.”

Dolce says he was expressing his view about family based on his experience growing up in a traditional Sicilian family “made up of a mother, a father and children. I am very well aware of the fact that there are other types of families and they are as legitimate as the one I’ve known.”

Dolce said he was expressing his personal views “without judging other people’s choices.”

Dolce Gabbana Against Gay Adoption

dolce and gabanna gay marriage adoption

In a 2006 interview with an Italian newspaper, Dolce (of Dolce & Gabbana) expressed  views against gays adopting, saying:

“I am opposed to the idea of a child growing up with two gay parents. A child needs a mother and a father. I could not imagine my childhood without my mother. I also believe that it is cruel to take a baby away from its mother.”

NOW,

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana say: ‘The only family is the traditional one’   –  in an interview with Italy’s Panorama magazine.

Sir Elton John has called for a boycott of fashion label Dolce & Gabbana after the legendary designers criticised same-sex families.

In a scathing post on picture sharing site Instagram, the furious singer branded Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana “judgmental” and “archaic”.

It followed an interview with the designers in Italy’s Panorama magazine in which the pair said: “We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one.

“No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed.”

elton-john-instagram

Dolce added that procreation “must be an act of love”, saying: “You are born to a mother and a father – or at least that’s how it should be.

“I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented uterus, semen chosen from a catalog.”

Gabbana added: “The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging.”

How can gay people  say this???? You are in the public eye and gay people buy your clothes!  LIE if you disagree.

An estimated 37% of LGBT adults have had a child and there are an estimated 6 million children with LGBT parents.

Diversity & Inclusion – Love Has No Labels

love-has-no-labels

BRILLIANT!

No wonder this went viral this week! The Ad Council did an excellent job communicating  love is  love.

While the vast majority of Americans consider themselves unprejudiced, many of us unintentionally make snap judgments about people based on what we see—whether it’s race, age, gender, religion, sexuality, or disability. This may be a significant reason many people in the U.S. report they feel discriminated against. Subconscious prejudice—called “implicit bias”—has profound implications for how we view and interact with others who are different from us. It can hinder a person’s ability to find a job, secure a loan, rent an apartment, or get a fair trial, perpetuating disparities in American society. The Love Has No Labels campaign challenges us to open our eyes to our bias and prejudice and work to stop it in ourselves, our friends, our families, and our colleagues.

Proposition Love, a fine jewelry company that caters to LGBT couples will be featured on episode #18 of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” Tuesday, March 17th on at 9pm EDT/PDT.

Newly ordained minister and “housewife” Lisa Vanderpump officiates her first-ever wedding ceremony in the garden of her new restaurant/lounge PUMP in West Hollywood with Bravo camera’s capturing every exciting moment of partners Magno Salva and Dominic Pierson’s memorable moment.

As the national LGBT marriage debate goes before the U.S. Supreme Court for a final decision this June, Proposition Love designed and donated rings and had the honor of presenting them to the couple on their wedding day. Sam Street and Jonathan Tack, founders of Proposition Love Jewelry, collaborated with Lisa Vanderpump to create the wedding rings for the first ceremony she was to officiate.

“Today I had the honour of officiating my first wedding at PUMP, beautiful couple entitled to equal rights. An emotional exquisite day! #LGBT” – Lisa Vanderpump @LisaVanderpump

Vanderpump worked with Street and Tack for weeks on the design of the rings, an interlocking motif crafted in white gold, symbolizing the love between newlyweds Dominic and Magno and the joining of their lives together.

Street commented “It was such an honor to design rings for Dominic and Magno’s special day as well as attending their beautiful ceremony.  Lisa Vanderpump was the icing on the “wedding” cake.  She is such a great advocate for our community.”

Prior to the wave of marriage equality sweeping the country, Street and Tack were married in California in 2008, as they couldn’t marry in their home state of New York. They are one of the 18,000 couples married during the short window of time before Prop 8 went into effect ending marriage equality in California.

Added Tack, “It’s encouraging to see support for marriage equality spreading nationwide and now finally before the Supreme Court; unlike when we were married six years ago in San Francisco’s City Hall.”

In preparation for the Supreme Court ruling, Proposition Love Jewelry created a video celebrating LOVE is LOVE with newlyweds Dominic and Magno, along with models Murray Swanby and Noah Wright and directed by Brad Hammer.  The video can be viewed at: PropositionLove.com.

Death for in sodomy CA

keep-calm-and-kill-gays-1

Is this a publicity stunt?  WTF?

A lawyer in California has submitted a ballot initiative with the state Department of Justice calling for the death of anyone who engages in sodomy in the state, the San Diego Gay & Lesbian News reports.

The proposal by Matt McLaughlin, who lists his address in Huntington Beach, was received by the initiative coordinator at the Office of the Attorney General on Feb. 26. Enclosed was a $200 check and the complete text of his “Sodomite Suppression Act.” The act outlines seven measures relating to those who engage in same-sex sodomy, “a monstrous evil that Almighty God, giver of freedom and liberty, commands us to suppress on pain of our utter destruction even as he overthrew Sodom and Gomorrha.”

McLaughlin recommends punishment by death, even though a judge ruled that California’s death penalty is unconstitutional last June:
