Gus Kenworthy Gay Athlete
I am gay.
Wow, it feels good to write those words. For most of my life, I’ve been afraid to embrace that truth about myself. Recently though, I’ve gotten to the point where the pain of holding onto the lie is greater than the fear of letting go, and I’m very proud to finally be letting my guard down.
My sexuality has been something I’ve struggled to come to terms with. I’ve known I was gay since I was a kid but growing up in a town of 2,000 people, a class of 48 kids and then turning pro as an athlete when I was 16, it just wasn’t something I wanted to accept. I pushed my feelings away in the hopes that it was a passing phase but the thought of being found out kept me up at night. I constantly felt anxious, depressed and even suicidal.
Looking back, it’s crazy to see how far I’ve come. For so much of my life I’ve dreaded the day that people would find out I was gay. Now, I couldn’t be more excited to tell you all the truth. Maybe you’ve suspected that truth about me all along, or maybe it comes as a complete shock to you. Either way, it’s important for me to be open and honest with you all. Y’all have supported me through a lot of my highs and lows and I hope you’ll stay by my side as I make this transformation into the genuine me – the me that I’ve always really been.
I am so thankful to ESPN for giving me this opportunity and to Alyssa Roenigk for telling my story to the world. I think about the pain I put myself through by closeting myself for so much of my life and it breaks my heart. If only I knew then what I know now: that the people who love you, who really care about you, will be by your side no matter what; and, that those who aren’t accepting of you are not the people you want or need in your life anyway.
Part of the reason that I had such a difficult time as a kid was that I didn’t know anyone in my position and didn’t have someone to look up to, who’s footsteps I could follow in. I hope to be that person for a younger generation, to model honesty and transparency and to show people that there’s nothing cooler than being yourself and embracing the things that make you unique. Head over to ESPN.com or click the link in my bio to read the full story and keep your eyes peeled for the November issue on newsstands soon! #outinsports#comingout#gay#beyourself#bornthisway
Laverne Cox in Rocky Horror Re Make
Well this is interesting….Following a lengthy casting process, Fox has found the star of its upcoming “Rocky Horror Picture Show” reboot. Laverne Cox has just been cast to play Frank N Furter. Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga previously were offered the part.
The character was made famous by Tim Curry in the 1975 cult classic, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year and continues to be screened at midnight in theaters across the country. The two-hour Fox special, due in fall 2016, will be directed, exec produced and choreographed by Kenny Ortega (“High School Musical”) and filmed in advance.
For the uninitiated, Frank-N-Furter is the self-described “sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania” and a scientist. The movie is a satire of sci-fi movies and horror B-movies and originally starred Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as a couple who stumble upon Frank-N-Furter’s odd castle in which he is creating a living man in his lab.

Go Go Boy Interrupted to Return!
WE’RE SO EXCITED!!!! It’s coming back!! The talented Jimmie Fowlie and cast are doing season 2!
“When I first moved to LA, I worked as a go-go dancer and there were so many hilarious stories that I always wanted to write about them! A year ago, I filmed 7 sketches that followed the story of a go-go boy who turned 30 and then got fired from the club he worked at. I called it “Go-Go Boy Interrupted.” It was part of a live show I was doing at The Groundlings in Los Angeles. Some friends encouraged me to put it online, and so I released it as a weekly web series last October.
I truthfully never pictured it doing as well as it did. The show was featured on The Advocate Magazine’s “hot list,” Huffington Post, LA Weekly, and more! We (the director Jordan Black and I) ended up signing a shopping agreement with a production company, and with their agent, we took out “Go-Go Boy Interrupted” to TV networks to try and sell it as a TV show. We went to HBO, Showtime, IFC, and Bravo just to name a few!
There are still other networks that we are going to pitch to, but I didn’t want to sit around and wait for someone ELSE to give me an opportunity. Plus, the fans of the show were so supportive and on Twitter and Youtube they asked for more episodes. So, this month we are going to try and make it happen! I love all these characters and there are so many fun places for them to go!
The reason that the director and I decided to do a Kickstarter is because the first season, although it was a total blast, no one got paid. The few crew members who did, were paid way under their normal rate. Things like paying the actors, director, and crew are essential! Not only because they’re talented and they deserve it, but because they’re all working in the industry, so time working on Go Go Boy Interrupted means times away from better paying jobs. The money will also go to renting locations, renting lighting and sound equipment, food for the cast and crew. Also, certain jobs like editors and music composers are really costly. Those two positions will be $17,000 alone. If we didn’t pay our crew, Season 2 wouldn’t be possible.”

WELL-STRUNG Video Royals
The SEXY AND GAY GROUP Well-Strung, pop/classical fusion group, released their third music video today titled “Royals (Feat. Palladio)” in anticipation of their new album POPssical due out on October 2nd.
This number is a composition of the group singing Lorde’s smash hit “Royals” while playing Karl Jenkins’ “Palladio” from the aptly titled album Diamond Music (you may remember it from the DeBeers diamond commercials). It is a really fun juxtaposition and the arrangement sounds incredible. We have additional art and photos available to accompany the video and can arrange interviews with the group members (Edmund, Chris, Daniel, and Trevor) upon request.

The group is traveling to Rome to play a mass at the Vatican on Sunday, September 6th.

YEAH BRO Gay Straight Podcast
Billed as, “The podcast where straight men talk about gay things,” Yeah, Bro! is hosted by sexy Milwaukee funny man Jacob D. Bach.
As part of long-running The Improvised Musical (aka T.I.M.) and a variety of other ComedySportz productions, Jacob Bach has honed his ability to pulls laughs out of audience-inspired unfamiliarity. Having a firm grasp on improv and performing as part of a group, he recently added another personal challenge to his body of work. He started a podcast. No, the idea of someone with a background in comedy beginning a podcast isn’t exactly groundbreaking stuff. However, his show’s concept is.
In short, Yeah, Bro!—which releases new episodes every Monday—is billed as “the podcast where straight men talk about gay things.” On each episode, Bach (who is openly gay) invites straight guests to discuss a topic that he (the host) considers to be significant in LGBT culture with the hope both parties and the listeners alike will learn something by show’s end.

Abbey in West Hollywood Reality TV
David Cooley‘s The Abbey and its staff are going to be the focus of a reality TV show.
According to TMZ, the uber-famous gay bar – a two-time winner of Logo’s “Best Gay Bar In The World” award – will be getting its own reality show. Apparently, an unnamed production company is developing the show and an unnamed network is “lined up,” but shooting dates have not yet been scheduled.
The famous restaurant turned nightclub after hours has reportedly already started interviewing hopeful cast members. Auditions for new employees will also take place before the shooting begins according to TMZ.
The project may be like “Vanderpump Rules… with way more flare [sic],” so get ready for all the —probably contrived— catty drama you can handle.
The Gay GAYME – Drinking and Fun
A gay boy, a kickstarter campaign and an idea! Last year Matt Sauve had an idea for an innovative party game for gays and allies that will have you laughing, drinking, and doing random yoga poses.
The Gayme is an innovative party game that consolidates the gay lifestyle and coming-of-age experience into hundreds of stimulating cards. The best part is anyone can play! LGBT or ally, it doesn’t matter.
There are 500 unique cards, each crafted to promote bonding, story-telling, and maybe a bit of intoxication. Unlike traditional games, The Gayme changes each time you play. You can play with 2 players or 20, it’s versatile. You can play in your kitchen, in your bed, at your mom’s house, in a bar: all you need is a surface, drinks, and people!
Created by Matt Sauve ( 3rd guy to the right in picture), 2-20 players can play and a game runs around 60-90 minutes.
- All players have a beverage
- Each player takes a turn picking a card, reading it out loud, & doing what it says
- Most cards are normal All Play without a title, meaning anytime that a card applies to you, you play.
- All Play cards with a title include: Question, Categories, Storytime
- Individual & Rule cards refer to the person reading the card
- Trivia cards are for the person sitting directly across from you
Matt invented The Gayme in 2012 when he discovered a lack of “social lubrication” at a party he was hosting. Originally hand-written on colored notecards, The Gayme’s popularity at college parties encouraged Matt to start his own company. He spends his spare time entertaining his friends and constantly conjuring new Gayme cards. Each card has been carefully crafted to promote bonding, story-telling, and laughter.
It’s clever, cute and fun! ORDER today for $25!
