Gay Actor, Activist, Comedian Taylor Negron Passes
I saw Taylor Negron back in the 80’s once perform stand up comedy at a small gay festival. And followed his career over the years on TV and film, and was so excited to see his career grow and flourish.
Negron who played Rodney Dangerfield’s future son-in-law Julio in “Easy Money”, the villainous Milo in “The Last Boy Scout” and Chevy Chase’s traveling companion Fausto in “Nothing But Trouble”, among many other movie roles including the classic Fast Times At Ridgemont High also appeared on over 40 shows of all sorts from “Seinfeld” to “That’s So Raven”. An a accomplished painter as well, Negron started his performing career as a supermarket clown. A go go boy and Lucille Ball’s assistant.
Cousin Chuck Negron, the former lead singer for 1970s band Three Dog Night, announced his death.
“I want to inform you that my cousin Taylor Negron just passed away,” he said in a YouTube video posted Saturday. “His mother, his brother, Alex, and my brother, Rene, and his wife … were all there with him. May he rest in peace.”
He was remembered by so many this week…Billy Crystal, Dane Cook and Ben Stiller were just a few to send out messages of their condolences.
He was only 57 and had battled cancer for the last several years.

Marshall Williams Joins GLEE as Gay Footballer
A new gay teen at McKinley High shows up when Glee returns for its sixth and final season on January 9: Marshall Williams, who competed on Canadian Idol in 2007 and 2008, will play Spencer, the school’s new “football stud” with the voice of an angel.
According to the casting notice, Spencer is actually “post-Glee gay —no one messes with him about his sexuality because he will kick their asses if they do.” Williams, who has also modeled, appeared this summer in the Disney TV movie How to Build a Better Boy.

After 3 years together Lance Bass married his man Michael Turchin!
When asked to describe his wedding, the one word Lance Bass likes to use the most is “unique.”
“There were a lot of things we wanted to add into this wedding that are very unique,” the former ‘NSYNC member tells PEOPLE of his Dec. 20 wedding to artist Michael Turchin.

The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights has taken issue with a Ford-designed piece of jewelry called the “penis pendant necklace.” The $790 piece, which is available in gold and silver, looks exactly like the name suggests and comes in sizes small, medium and large.
The controversial Catholic League considers the piece offensive, however, because the pendant appears to be in the shape of a cross.
“When we learned of this item, I said to the staff that I bet this guy Tom Ford is a homosexual,” Bill Donahue, the Catholic League’s president and CEO, is quoted as saying in a press release. “I was right. He even thinks he’s married.” (Ford is married to journalist Richard Buckley.)
The 53-year-old fashion star debuted the necklace at his spring-summer 2015 show in London over the summer. At the time, Esquire noted the possibility that the penis cross may be an allusion to the phallus-shaped fascinus charms worn by ancient Romans.
Joan Rivers Leaves Money to Gods Love We Deliver
The legendary comic Joan Rivers in life was always a strong supporter and philanthropist when it came gay issues .
Now, even though Joan is gone, she is still continuing her support by leaving the AIDS charity, Gods Love We Deliver a sizable amount of money in her will.
Ms. Rivers trust was filed with New York State Surrogate’s Court on Tuesday – and daughter Melissa Rivers named as executor of her $150 million estate.
While the exact amount is not known, Joan left a substantial amount to the charity was set up in 1985 to deliver food to men dying at the height of the AIDS crisis – many of whom were not receiving substantial care.

CHER Cancels Remaining Tour Dates
SAY IT ISN’T SO!!!!
Cher cancels remaining dates of the Farewell, Farewell, Farewell tour aka Dressed to Kill!
Back in September, CHER became ill and and had to reschedule all her remaining concert dates.
Now, she’s been forced to cancel all those rescheduled dates because she still hasn’t made a full recovery.
“I am totally devastated. Nothing like this has ever happened to me,” Cher said in a statement. “I cannot apologize enough to all the fans who bought tickets. I’m so proud of this show. It is my best ever. I sincerely hope that we can come back again next year and finish what we started.”
The singer, 68, wrapped up the first leg of her Dressed to Kill tour in March, but before she embarked on a second leg, she contracted an infection that affected her kidney function, leading the postponement and rescheduling of the dates. Now, her doctors have advised her that she needs even more time to ensure a “complete and total recovery.”
Ticket holders can get refunds at the point of purchase.
The dates were to have run through January, and included two shows at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden. – What about a DVD? I would guess, the Madison Square Garden will get rescheduled and filmed for DVD. This really could be her farewell show.

Waymon Hudson Activist – Fight OUT Loud
Early on the morning of May 1, 2007, around 1 am, my partner and I were returning home to Fort Lauderdale from vacation in Chicago. Our flight was delayed, so we were the last group of passengers (around 20 or so) at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport.
While waiting for our luggage in the baggage claim area, we heard these words come over the PA system loud and clear:
“A man that lies with a man as with a woman should be put to death.”
A few minutes later, the same Biblical recording played over the loud speaker again. We were understandably shocked and frightened.
We looked around for a security guard, airport employee, or TSA agent, but we were unable to find anyone because it was so late and everything was closed. We quickly gathered our bags and went to our car, nervous to be alone in a dark parking garage after hearing what we assumed was a death threat against us.
The next morning, we called the airport to report the incident. The airport manager seemed disinterested in the threat and simply said “sorry for the inconvenience.” After the tepid response from the manager, we contacted our county commissioner, as well as a local news station. We also contacted various web sites and blogs about our experience, including Pam’s House Blend and Towleroad (who were amazing in their support!) to try and get some help.
A few nights later, we received a call from the police saying that they were able to locate the person who made the announcement and that he confessed. The man was Jethro Monestine, a skycap for Superior Aircraft Services, who worked in the baggage claim area. After seeing the intense media coverage, a co-worker turned him in, fearing they too would be in trouble. Monestine said that he downloaded the recording onto his cell phone and played it over the intercom as a “prank”. He also claimed not be directing it at us, saying he was “bored between flights and just wanted to have some fun”. He was eventually fired, but no charges were filed against him for what can only be seen as making a death threat over the PA at a major US airport.
The intense media coverage, as well as the religious aspect of the recording, led to a large amount of negative feedback and hate-mail being directed towards us. Adding to this backlash was some skewed and sensationalistic reporting of our story, which included headlines that focused on the “bible verse” aspect of this incident, not the threat (one such example: “Prankster fired for playing bible verse that offended gays”). This opened us up for attack from a number of conservative groups, blogs, and radio shows. Websites and open forums began to fill with personal attacks directed at us. Every anti-gay slur, threat of damnation and condemnation of us that you could imagine appeared. Our motives, names, and even our appearance were viciously attacked.
This whole event really woke us up to the amount of hate that people are still capable of directing towards the GLBT community. We received numerous stories from people around the country telling us their own horror stories of discrimination and not being taken seriously. As with our own story, a lot of smaller incidents of discrimination and hate seemed to fall through the cracks, leaving many people to fend for themselves. Having gone through such an eye-opening experience, and finding that there were really very few resources available to LGBT individuals who needed immediate help in situations like ours, we decided to fight back. This inspired us to form a national non-profit organization called Fight OUT Loud.
While the experience of the airport and the ensuing backlash may have been difficult, it was probably one of the best things that could have ever happened to me. It changed my life, got me involved, and started an amazing organization that is helping people across the country.
“Fight OUT Loud has a strong online presence and will continues to help people by being where they are- through Twitter, Facebook and other online platforms.” explains Waymon.
“We’re filling the gap for people who don’t know where to go with their issues. We have strong ties with existing organizations and help connect people to the resources and support they need. Most of our work is very individual- we are here to make sure no LGBT issue falls through the cracks. Whether it be doing the research about local ordinances to help in an individual case of discrimination or helping educate the community about a larger LGBT issue, we really work to make sure no one, no matter where they are or what they are going through, feels alone when faced with bias, discrimination, or violence. Most of our work and projects are extremely targeted and individual.”

#WeAreAllClean the HIV ALS Challenge
THIS IS BRILLIANT!
Could this be the HIV equivalent to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? We think so. The concept is the brainchild of well-known HIV activist, Jack Mackenroth who has partnered with Moovz, the leading global gay social app, to launch the project. It’s genius in its simplicity. We are now a selfie-obsessed culture and Mackenroth urges everyone to take a special selfie for an important cause.
“I was inspired by the use of the word ‘clean’, especially common in gay culture, to describe oneself as STI/STD free. Indirectly this implies that HIV-positive people are somehow ‘dirty'”, says Mackenroth. “I thought a PG or PG-13 shower selfie or Vine video would be a fun way that everyone could easily show their support on social media for finding a cure by using the hashtag #weareALLclean when they post their photo with the link. They then nominate 3 other people to participate and hopefully donate to the project as well.”
The goal of the campaign is to raise 1 million dollars to stop the epidemic and help find a cure and the campaign will be ongoing indefinitely. Donate here. All donations received will be donated to Housing Works, a New York-based nonprofit organization fighting on the front lines to end AIDS and homelessness, not just in New York but globally by 2030. The CDC estimates that there are currently 1.2 million people in the US living with HIV and over 35 million people around the world.
“As someone who has been living with HIV for 25 years this is very personal to me.” Mackenroth adds, “There is current urgency for funding as we have new treatments that maintain viral suppression and render HIV-positive individuals virtually non-transmissible. Those same treatments can be given to HIV-negative individuals and protect them from infection. Essentially we already have the tools to stop the epidemic from spreading. Exciting new research is bringing us closer to a real cure for AIDS every day. ”
The campaign will launch within Moovz because of the app’s high user engagement rates and it’s history of successful international LGBT social media campaigns. Mackenroth is known as a social media powerhouse in his own right but he is also enlisting many of his “social media superstar” friends to get the campaign off the ground.
Actor, model, singer and social media stud, Chris Salvatore is igniting the campaign from Los Angeles after joining forces with Moovz as well. “It’s time to erase the stigma and unite as a global community. Regardless of your gender or sexual identity—no matter what age, color, size or shape you are, you should be part of this project! Let’s all be one loud, united voice in support of awareness, education, treatment and research for a cure.” says Salvatore. “And have fun with it. Be funny, sexy or silly. Who doesn’t want to see people in the shower soaping up for a good cause?”
“I truly hope this campaign goes viral—no pun intended.” Mackenroth quips.
The campaign launches between now and World AIDS Day, December 1st and is ongoing until the goal is reached. The hope is that there will be traction in the following weeks so that people know about the campaign on World AIDS Day and change their profile photos to show support.

In a recent issue of the Advocate the Divine Miss M talked about the good ole’ gays and what she misses about the gays gone bye.
“[I miss] the extreme characters you used to see in the Village in the old days,” she said. “You just don’t see them anymore.”
“I really do miss them because there was a feeling I used to get that people were expressing themselves in the most elaborate of ways. Now the [gay community] has kind of gone mainstream. It’s sort of ordinary now, and a little bit of the specialness has rubbed away.
“It used to be the love that dare not speak its name and now it’s the love that won’t shut the fuck up…but seriously, the great thing about the gay revolution is that it has become ordinary and I’m happy to see how far it’s come and to see the community be more at peace with itself and, I want to say, more homogenized. Even being considered a gay icon — which was something that used to be whispered and bandied about — has become sort of mainstream, and that’s a good thing.”

I think I found out my brother wasn’t grovelling in heterosexual mud like most boys our age when I was around 12. I remember feeling surprised. Intrigued. Curious. Not bi-curious before you start getting ideas.
I was curious because it was different from anything I’d known or heard of and yet it didn’t seem unnatural to me. I had no reference for the existence of homosexuality. I had seen, by that age, no gay couples together. I just knew my brother liked men and, I repeat, it didn’t seem unnatural to me. My brother Eamon didn’t choose to be gay. Yes, he chose to wear eyeliner to school and that probably wasn’t the most pragmatic response to the daily torture he experienced at the hands of school bullies.
But he was always proud of who he was. Proud and defiant and, of course, provocative. Even when others were casting him out with fists and ridicule and the laughter of pure loathsome derision, he maintained an integrity and dignity that flew in the face of the cruelty that befell him.
I don’t know where those bullies are now, the ones who beat him regularly. Maybe some of them have found peace and would rather forget their own part of a painful past. Maybe they’re sitting on bar stools and talking about “birds and faggots” and why one’s the cure and the other the disease.
But I do know where my brother is. He’s at home in Dublin living in peace and love with his husband of some years, Steven. They are about the healthiest and happiest couple I know. They had to travel a little farther than down the aisle to make their vows, though, to Canada, where their marriage was celebrated.
That’s why this is personal to me. The fact that my brother had to leave Ireland to have his dream of being married become real is insane. INSANE.

Linda Eder Live in Concert
In an era in which artists feel liberated to produce and distribute their music in their own way — minus record-label intrusion — singer Linda Eder has released independently the most charismatic recording of a career that has stretched more than 20 years.
“Linda Live: The Concert Recording” cannot be found on Amazon, iTunes or any other platform for music sales. But because Eder stands as the greatest contemporary vocalist in the tradition of Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand, perhaps listeners will find their way to Eder’s first live album (available only at lindaeder.com and at the singer’s shows).
Tom of Finland Stamps
The legendary TOM OF FINLAND
now has his own stamps – but they are only available in Finland at the moment.
The late graphic artist Tom of Finland, born Touko Laaksonen, has become further cemented as an icon for his contributions to gay art and history thanks to a new a series of stamps. He is considered one of the most well-known Finnish artists around the world.
The work of Tom of Finland is both monumentally significant and long-standing.
“His emphatically masculine homoerotic drawings have attained iconic status in their genre and had an influence on, for instance, pop culture and fashion. In his works, Tom of Finland utilized the self-irony and humor typical of subcultures. During his career, Tom of Finland produced more than 3,500 drawings… The drawings on the stamp sheet represent strong and confident male figures typical of their designer.”

A petition demanding the stamp be called off has now launched, and has so far gathered over 2,000 signatures.

An accomplished filmmaker who got his start in 2003 when he wrote, directed, and produced the short film “Mormor’s Visit” as well as his first feature, the romantic comedy “Slutty Summer” (in which he also stars). In the following years Casper produced and directed another five feature films (three of which he also wrote): “A Four Letter Word” (2007),”Between Love & Goodbye” (2008), “The Big Gay Musical” (2009), “Violet Tendencies” (2010), and “Going Down in LA-LA Land” (2011). Casper co-starred in the last two. Casper has collected multiple awards at film festivals around the world for each of his films.

This movie is a passion project. Every single person both before and behind the camera is involved because we believe in it. We are a small group, with a small film, and we want to make this movie for a small amount of money.
Our risks and challenges will be enormous. Even though that is true of every film production, at every budget, the smaller the budget the greater the challenges. Actors can drop out, locations can become unavailable. Pretty much anything that can go wrong in life can go wrong while making a small movie. But our team has a lot of experience in film production and overcoming the various obstacles that will inevitably arise.
And we have passion!
We believe that passion plus experience will equal a great little movie that will, with your help, come together to truly be something special.

Channing Tatum Steve Carroll Foxcatcher
This looks GREAT! Based on a shocking true story, Channing Tatum and Steve Carell star in the upcoming film Foxcatcher. EVERYONE is talking about both Channing and Steve and their award winning performances.
It is about a wrestler (Tatum) who wants to be the best wrestler in the world and a mysterious older benefactor (Carell) who offers him his patronage.
Dave Schultz was an Olympic and world champion freestyle wrestler. While training for another Olympic bid, he was killed by a gunshot from mad athletic sponsor John Eleuthère du Pont. Four months after Dave’s murder, his brother Mark competed in UFC 9 and won. Dave Schultz is the only 1984 Olympic Champion to win the 1983 World Championships and Mark is the only 1984 Olympic Champion to win the 1985 World Championships. When Mark won another World Championship in 1987, he became the first Olympic Champion to add two additional World titles. What a story!
What begins as a mutually symbiotic relationship quickly devolves into something darker and more twisted.
Channing talks about the grueling training and how it changed him, “Look, when you’re in that kind of a movie, it doesn’t matter if you’re hurt or not,” the actor told Yahoo. “You keep moving forward. I don’t think my knees will ever be the same after that, and I still have cauliflower ear. But if I came out of the movie without it, I’d feel like I didn’t do something right.”
