Madonna Fined $17,000 from St. Petersburg

Madonna may no longer be relevant to the younger
generations, but the old gal still has it and knows how to stir the pot!

Aging Russian government officials were prepared for Madonna this week and knew she would most likely share her views homosexuality.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister
Dmitry Rogozin has penned an offensive tweet ostensibly about Madonna (she’s skillfully left unnamed) in the wake of Madge’s outspoken words of support for the Russian punk band Pussy Riot.
“Every former w. wants to give lectures on morality when she grows
old,” Rogozin writes. “Especially during foreign tours.” The Associated
Press says, “By ‘w.’ he apparently meant ‘whore.’ “

On Tuesday, Madonna saluted the all-female Pussy Riot in her Moscrow
concert. The Russian trio is on trial for staging a protest against
President Vladimir Putin. And Madge spoke out against the city’s harsh new anti-gay laws, which penalize speaking about homosexuality around minors.

“I know there are many sides to every story, and I mean no disrespect to
the church or the government. But I think that these three girls —
Masha, Katya, Nadya — I think that they have done something courageous. I
think they have paid the price for this act. And I pray for their
freedom,” she said, according to the New York Times.

Madonna faces a fine for her violating St. Petersburg, Russia’s ban on ‘gay propaganda’ for the demonstration at her concert yesterday, according to reports from activists in the country.

Said Polina Savchenko, director of the St. Petersburg LGBT group, Coming Out, in an email obtained by Towleroad:

LGBT organization Coming Out, printed 330
rainbow posters with the saying “No Fear” that were distributed to the
crowd. Although some posters were confiscated by security, their display
had a huge emotional effect during the show. Many fans raised them
during Madonna’s speech, and she reacted by saying “No Fear, that’s
right” before insisting that fear was the basis of all discrimination,
and that tolerance could only be guaranteed by love, the opposite of
fear. During the performance of “Like A Prayer”, while dancers were
raising a rainbow flag provided by a member of Coming Out and the
Russian LGBT Network, Madonna took a “No Fear” poster from the crowd and
raised it for 25,000 people to see. Same as for “Pussy Riot” support in
Moscow, she had tattooed her back, this time with “No Fear.” Gay
bashing scenes from gay demonstrations in Russia, pictures of teenagers
who died because of homophobia, and many gay and lesbian kisses were
shown during the very political “Nobody Knows Me” Interlude Video.

Madonna’s
support was extremely moving. Most of the mostly heterosexual crowd
reacted positively to her message by raising pink wristbands that were
distributed to everyone to support the LGBT community. The LGBT in the
audience received Madonna’s support with both smiles and tears, and
gratified her with the universal message “We love you” at the end of the
show.

Author of the “propaganda” law in St. Petersburg, Vitaly
Milonov (pictured) today declared that Madonna broke the law and is
planning to charge her with a fine of 500,000 rubles ($17 000).

Amanda Lepore for FORTWO Car

Amanda Lepore is a name synonymous with glamour in nightclubs and burlesque halls around the world.  ‘The most expensive body on Earth,’ as she is known, and unofficial ambassador of New York City’s nightlife scene was catapulted into the spotlight after being discovered by visionary photographer David LaChapelle.

Breaking into the music scene with ease, Amanda has left a string of hits in her wake – including “My Hair Looks Fierce,” “Cotton Candy,” “Champagne” and her latest offering “Doin’ It My Way.”  Lepore continues winning over new fans every day – her recent appearance in a viral video by photographer/director Marco Ovando lip-synching Marina And The Diamond’s hit song “Primadonna” with friends in the New York City nightlife scene prompted Marina herself to exclaim “Oh my god, I died! I love Amanda Lepore so much.”

These days, Amanda is still a jet-setter with an upcoming appearance on Here TV’s new reality show titled Because Of An Earlier Incident, a featured role in Smart Car’s commercial for their Fortwo model airing in a majority of Europe, a stop in Vienna where she wowed crowds at Europe’s largest HIV/AIDS fundraiser ‘Life Ball’ alongside The Scissor Sisters and as if that weren’t enough, she also served as host for the star-studded GLAAD fundraiser in Manhattan on August 7th.  The new show, Because Of An Earlier Incident, is a reality show shot in a documentary style that highlights NYC’s most intriguing artists as they share their insights, inspiration, creative pursuits, and personal style.  It debuts on September 28th promising to be reminiscent of the early 80’s street culture and portray NYC as a place to “play,” collaborate, and have fun.

Always a hit in the high end fashion world, Amanda served as both muse and actress for Brazilian fashion designer Sergio K’s 2012 Winter Campaign shot by noted American fashion photographer Terry Richardson.  Fans in NYC can also catch her at the Grand Opening of Sephora’s new 45 East 17th Street store on Friday, August 10th from 4-6pm where she will appropriately perform her song “Nails Done” alongside DJ Roxy Cottontail.  With her over-the-top lifestyle more in demand than ever before, Amanda is a star burning brighter every day.

Matt Damon and Michael Douglas on Liberace Set

Did you know, the Liberace went through life believing that everyone thought he was really straight?

Liberace thought  he kept his gayness  carefully concealed from his public.
True, there was no paparazzi in those days – to expose his gay pool parties and male companions…but come on….straight? really?!

Next year  HBO airs the movie Behind the Candelabra, now filming with a cast-against-type Michael Douglas as the gilded showman and Matt Damon as his much-younger lover, Scott Thorson – who exposed his life with Lee in a tell-all book and also sued for $113 million in palimony.

“He thought his personal life was nobody’s business,” the real-life Thorson told PEOPLE in 1987, when Liberace, 67, died from AIDS.

Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Ocean’s 11 and Magic Mike),
directs the HBO production, whose title comes from the elaborate décor
with which Liberace surrounded himself, including his trademark
candelabra on the piano. Also in the cast: Rob Lowe, Debbie Reynolds,
Dan Aykroyd, Scott Bakula and Cheyenne Jackson.
WHAT A CAST!!

And HE LOVED TO SHOP and Spend money!  As described by PEOPLE in 1982:
“He has realized the dreams of a most common man. His Las Vegas act,
concert tours and records (60 million sold to date) have brought him an
average gross income of $5 million for each of the last 30 years, and he
has worked his bejeweled tails off to make it so. In his portfolio are
many mansions (three in Las Vegas alone), pianos (18 at latest count,
including Chopin’s and Gershwin’s), cars (20, two of them Rollses), gems
(he wears about $3 million worth onstage and has one $35,000 Tiffany
watch that plays his theme song, “I’ll Be Seeing You”), furs (including a
$150,000 black diamond mink coat lined with Austrian rhinestones),
antiques (don’t ask) and real estate.

BrideGroom Will be a Movie by Linda Bloodworth Thomason

We blogged about this young man  several months ago. Then Linda Bloodwoth Thomason heard his story and wanted to make a movie to share it with the world, as a wake up call. A Kickstarter campaign  was started trying to raise $300,000. They raised  $380,000!  So the movie WILL BE MADE!!

BRIDEGROOM, will tell the emotional journey of Shane Bitney Crone and Tom Bridegroom, two young men in a loving and committed relationship – a relationship that was cut tragically short by a misstep off the side of a roof.  The story of what happened after this accidental death– of how people without the legal protections of marriage can find themselves completely shut out and ostracized– is poignant, enraging and opens a window onto the issue of marriage equality like no speech or lecture ever will.

The YouTube video was shared widely on social media sites and posted by
prominent celebrities, including: Neil Patrick Harris, Sara Gilbert,
Fran Dresher, Denise Richards and Piers Morgan. The video also grabbed
the attention of Designing Women creator and Man from Hope
director, Linda Bloodworth Thomason, who contacted Shane to bring his
and Tom’s story to the large screen. Shane and Tom’s story resonated
strongly with Bloodworth Thomason. “The prejudice and bigotry that Shane
and Tom experienced was not unlike what I witnessed in 1986 when my
mother died of transfused AIDS,” she said. To date the video has more
than 3,000,000 views.

Gay CinderFella with Idol’s Todrick Hall

It’s Time! Legalize Love!
is the theme for this summer!

Following the viral success of “Beauty and the Beat,” Todrick Hall — self-proclaimed
“Broadway performer, ‘American Idol’ finalist, Singer, Dancer,
‘Glee’-wannabe and YouTuber” — has just released another musical Disney
Parody, “CinderFella.”

Hall brings “Cinderella” up to date, mixing iconic Disney tunes with
pop songs like Katy Perry’s “Firework” and Chris Brown’s “Turn Up The
Music,” and features celebrities, such as Janice Dickinson, Shangela and
Willam from “Rupaul’s Drag Race,” Lance Bass and Daniel Franzese, in
classic fairy tale roles.

Best of all, the pro-gay music video breaks the unshakably straight
Disney tradition: Jasmine hits the dance floor with Alice, and Prince
Charming has a happily-ever-after with CinderFella. As Hall writes,
“This story speaks volumes and I think that love is as classic as this
fairy tale. It’s time for us to legalize love in all shapes and colors.”

Lots of stars make cameos!  Janice Dickinson, Willam Belli,  Shangela, Glozell, Kimberly Cole, uber sexy  Steven Dehler, Sam Garfield, Tyler Brockington, sexy Aubrey O’Day,  and Lance Bass as Prince charming!!

Todrick says, “I wanted to tell this famous fairy tale in a new and innovative way, combining familiar top 40’s songs with classic Disney melodies. This story speaks volumes and I think that love is as classic as this fairy tale. It’s time for us to legalize love in all shapes and colors.
Please support this movement by posting this on your social media sites. “

Kellan Lutz is a Big Hot Straight Bullied Man in “Love is All You Need?”

Imagine a world where gays were 90% and the straight were 10%?!

If a straight person could do that for a day, walk a mile in our shoes, maybe then the right wingers would get it!

The plot for Kim Rocco Shields’ new indie drama Love Is All You Need? has the story taking place in a  world  where
homosexuality is considered the norm and a plot that involves a man and a
woman engaging in a secret romance. Hiding in the closet!

Twilight star and major hottie  Kellan Lutz has reportedly signed on for a role in the WingSpan Pictures drama.

The Hollywood Reporter posted the news, stating that Lutz has joined Love Is All You Need?,
along with Camilla Belle (who is in final negotiations).

Based on a
short by Shields with the feature script co-written by David Tillman,
the film, which follows several storylines set in a world where
homosexuality is considered the norm (from the short film’s website,
the tagline is “…Where ‘gay’ was ‘straight’ – and ‘straight’ was
‘gay’”), will have Lutz and Belle playing an aspiring journalist and a
popular star quarterback respectively.

They apparently form a secret,
romantic relationship which eventually goes public, resulting in them
being bullied.

The trailer, shows a young straight girl being bullied by a bunch of gays. The gays paint GOD HATES STRAIGHTS on someones garage; they write HETERO on the young girls forehead; and she wonders, why she was born that way, and not Gay, where everything would be normal!

It’s a wonderful concept!  I can not wait!!

Greg Louganis Olympics 2012 Documentary

Award-winning filmmakers, director Cheryl Furjanic (Sync or Swim) and producer Will Sweeney (The Royal Tenenbaums), today announced they will film Olympic legend Greg Louganis in London during the 2012 Olympic Games to continue documenting his return to the sport of diving after a twenty-year absence.

This footage will become part of a feature-length independent documentary titled BACK ON BOARD GREG LOUGANIS about the diving champion’s inspiring personal story, due to be released in 2013.

The film reveals Louganis’ evolution from childhood diving prodigy to Olympic champion, and from pioneering openly gay athlete with HIV to a sometimes forgotten sports icon.  BACK ON BOARD GREG LOUGANIS is an engrossing story about an American hero on the cusp of a comeback.  His recent return to the sport (once synonymous with his name) as a mentor to USA Diving’s current Olympic team provides an exciting new chapter to his life-story.

“Greg’s story is so inspiring and his life is really extraordinary.  As a gay filmmaker, I’ve always admired Greg and I saw this film as an opportunity to reintroduce a true pioneer to the American public.   He has seen life’s high highs and low lows — we can all learn a lot from Greg’s story,” said director Cheryl Furjanic.

“His story is connected to so many important moments in American history including the Olympics, the AIDS epidemic, the gay rights movement, and even the recent housing crisis ” said producer Will Sweeney. “Greg’s return to diving after feeling unwelcome for so long gave us a natural way to tell his unique story and explore his enduring legacy.”

Louganis’ legacy will become even more powerful as this film travels throughout the world affecting the lives of the next generation.  While most people remember the four-time Olympic champion for winning one of his gold medals after hitting his head on the board at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, few realize how many of today’s important social issues have affected him: LGBT rights; HIV/AIDS; bullying; dyslexia; adoption; depression; domestic violence; and the housing crisis, to name a few.  The filmmakers are committed to using this film to do educational outreach in connection with the distribution of the film.

“What the public has seen is pretty powerful. But, what goes on behind the scenes, I think was even more incredible,” said Greg Louganis.

The filmmakers are utilizing the innovative crowd-funding website Kickstarter to help finance the production of BACK ON BOARD GREG LOUGANIS. Kickstarter connects the general public with filmmakers to provide maximum creative freedom by directly engaging with their audience during the production.

Jack Mackenroth, Poz Army, and Sexy Underwear

JACK MACKENROTH  has been posting some amazing new photos on Facebook this week, and I just had to share some of them!  Jack has such a stunning look in front of the camera. That body! Those eyes!  Sigh…….

Jack continues to travel the country speaking about HIV education and
fighting the stigma. He will be at this years World AIDS conference in
DC on July 20th with the POZ ARMY. (pozarmy.com)
Poz Army is a grass roots movement to reenergize the fight against HIV
and AIDS and to push for a cure. Jack is a “general” in the POZ ARMY
joined by fellow celebrity activists like Olympian Greg Louganis, singer
Jamar Rogers from The Voice, Ongina from RuPaul’s Drag Race, the
“Berlin Patient” Timothy Brown, who is the first person cured of AIDS,
and many other activists. You can do your part by following POZ ARMY on
twitter @pozarmy and showing support on Facebook.

Jack is in the
final stages of preparation the launch of a dating/hook-up site and
mobile app for HIV+ guys. HIV+ men often don’t feel welcome on the
existing sites and are tired of having to have “the conversation” or
worrying about when to disclose their status. This new site will cater
to HIV+ men and help combat the stigma through visibility. All the
models are HIV+ and members don’t have to feel the stigma of living with
HIV. It goes live on September 1st after beta testing. Unfortunately the site name is still confidential. Check Jack’s facebook page for updates in August.

Initially
the site will be fairly simple in order to build membership. We all
know sex sells so that’s part of it but it will also have a heath and
resource section. As the site grows and we will to build more of a
community aspect where people can chat in forums and we can partner with
other agencies. We want to have cutting edge information on studies and
medication.

We’ve also partnered with Dr. Frank Spinelli who is are go
to guy for HIV education. This could have a massive affect on building a
solid HIV+ community of men who have sex with men. There has never been a
site like this before and we aim to hit a million members.

The site
will be free to sign up and members control their content so Jack
encourages everyone to take a look.

And if you are not following

Bel Ami and Models Kicked off RSVP Cruise SUE the Company

QUEERTY says,

RSVP Vacations is being sued by Bel Ami and several of its models for
hiring them for a cruise and then dumping them in godforsaken Tunisia.

According to court documents filed in California,
nearly a dozen Slavic Bel Ami porn stars were hired by RSVP to “mix and
mingle” with passengers on a gay cruise through the Mediterranean. Bel
Ami maintains the models were told to keep the fact RSVP hired them on
the down-low, “suggesting that the young men should lie and say the
cruise was a ‘reward from Bel Ami for their hard work’ if anyone asked.”
In exchange for providing the talent, RSVP told Bel Ami it could film
the models frolicking non-sexually around the ship.

But rumors started circling before the boat even left port and, when
the boys attracted too much attention, RSVP allegedly kicked them off
the Nieuw Amsterdam, stranding them in Tunisia.

At the time, Tunisia was in the aftermath of the
tumultuous civil uprising that became known as the Arab Spring; an
uprising so powerful that it led to the removal of long-time President
Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. The protests constituted the most dramatic wave
of social and political unrest in Tunisia in three decades and resulted
in scores of deaths and injuries.

With RSVP supposedly holding their passports and belongings hostage, the models had no choice but to comply. Ironically, the Nieuw Amsterdam
was just one day away from Italy, an EU member nation that would have
allowed them to easily return home to Hungary and the Czech Republic.

Instead they spent a sleepless night in Tunisia, with no contacts, no resources and unable to speak the language.

Bel Ami and the models are suing RSVP and Holland America cruise line
for breach of contract, fraud, intentional interference with contract,
negligence, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional
distress.

This isn’t the first trouble RSVP has had in the Muslim world: Just a few weeks ago, a planned excursion to Morocco was canceled for reasons that remain unclear.

Scrooge and Marley Post Production Fundraiser

From the producers:

Scrooge & Marley is a modern-day variation on Charles Dickens’ classic story of the holidays, A Christmas Carol.

In May, we had a fantastic film shoot in
Chicago, complete with snow scenes, ghosts, purgatory, disco dancing at
Fezziwig’s (with owner Bruce Vilanch!), cabaret, hot dancers, and lots
of terrific actors. After nearly 3 weeks of shooting we are now in the
editing/post-production stage. This includes the recording/mastering of
all the original songs that are sung in the movie.

We are now in the home stretch and could
really use your Christmas spirit—in July! Please help us complete this
Christmas story for the whole family. We are all very excited to bring
you a wonderful holiday movie this season!

Scrooge is played by David Pevsner, Marley
by Tim Kazurinsky, and they are joined by Rusty Schwimmer, Bruce
Vilanch, Megan Cavanagh, Richard Ganoung, Ronnie Kroell, David Moretti,
JoJo Baby, Becca Kaufman, plus a host of Chicago actors.

Recounted from a gay sensibility, with
heart, comedy and music, the magic of Dickens’ timeless tale of a man’s
redemption at the holidays—thanks to the help of three ghostly spirits—
comes alive from a fresh perspective that will appeal to audiences of
every persuasion.

The film is based on an original script by Ellen Stoneking, Richard Knight, Jr. and the late Timothy Imse. It was directed by Knight and Peter Neville.

Thanks to Mark MacLean for voice over and Lisa McQueen for the music in this trailer!

Won’t you join our cast and crew in celebrating?

Barbra Streisand Responds to Larry Kramers Allegations

Correcting Larry Kramer –

The Truth About Our

Effort To Make

The Normal Heart

Larry Kramer does not need me to publicize his beautiful play.
It stands on its own. For the last time – I will answer his complaints,
which rewrite history.

When I saw the play in 1985 I was very moved and
immediately contacted Larry to acquire the rights. After going through
several drafts with Larry, I hired another writer to develop a
screenplay that was faithful to Larry’s play — but adapting it to make
it more cinematic. It was finished in 1995. Ralph Fiennes and Kenneth
Branagh were interested in doing the version that I oversaw.

I tried very hard to get it made, but when it became
clear that we couldn’t raise the money to do it as a film due to the
controversial nature of the material, I thought, all right, we’ll do it
on TV. At least it would reach a wide audience. But even HBO would only
pay Larry $250,000 for the rights, and he would not let it go forward
for anything less than $1,000,000 and no company was willing to move on
it.

After ten years, the rights reverted back to Larry. But
even when I had no contractual involvement, I still persisted in
pressing to get The Normal Heart made, purely because I believed in the
project. As producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron can confirm, I thought
that if we could get a great cast together, maybe a studio would finally
finance it and we could persuade Larry to let us do it. I offered the
part of the doctor to Julia Roberts because I thought she would be
terrific. I also asked Mark Ruffalo and Bradley Cooper to be in it, and
they said yes to my adaptation of the screenplay. By the way, this is
not to say that it wouldn’t have been rewritten again. The work is
never done until the movie is released.

I think it’s unfair to keep blaming me for the movie not
getting made. I worked on it for 25 years, without pay. Larry had the
rights for the last 15 years and he couldn’t get it made either. Those
are the facts, and none of this is news to Larry.

More recently, he sent me a note before giving the
project to another director, asking me again if I wanted to direct it —
but only with his screenplay. As a filmmaker, I couldn’t have my hands
tied like that. What if I needed changes? Sadly, I turned his offer
down and wished him well.

I will always believe in Larry’s play and its powerful theme about everyone’s right to love.

Erik Rhodes Dead Today at 30 – Probably from Drug Use

Gays and Bodybuilders
will DIE for that perfect body.

Famed gay porn star Erik Rhodes died of a heart attack this morning at the age of 30.  It is said he died in his sleep. We just saw Erik in May in Chicago. It is so sad.

Rhodes was a prolific blogger and frequently wrote of his heavy usage of both club drugs and bodybuilding steroids. With a chilling coda, Rhodes’ final Tumblr post cited his most recent steroid cycle.
(see below).

Just 5 years, another model/actor, Brett Mycles died a similar way. It is speculated steroid over use was the cause of his heart exploding.

And what is sad, is I have friends right now, doing the same thing. Their  body is never “there”. Never good enough. Never big enough.

erikrhodes.blogspot.com/

erikrhodes.tumblr.com/
His Twitter has been deactivated. But hopefully his blog will stay up so people can read about his pain.

How crazy is that? That amount of steroid use could kill you for sure!  When will this madness stop?? 2 months ago, he INCREASED his steroid use, because his boyfriend left him for someone BIGGER. So he wanted to be bigger yet!

Rhodes was a legend in the gay adult film world. His fame transcended
porn and he did mainstream modeling (famously appearing in an ad for Loehman’s department store) and sat front row at the Marc Jacobs fashion show.

When someone dies suddenly, there are usually so many unanswered questions. But with Erik, he poured his heart out on his blog. It was all right there.  Was there no one close to him, to help him??

On Gawker this week, they showed postings from Eriks blog – he predicted he would die by 30. It is very very sad no one helped him.

My name is James… I have worked in the adult entertainment industry
for the last 7 years of my life under the name Erik Rhodes.

I’m not sure
how I ended up here, and I don’t know how i have survived this long…
all i do know is that it can a very lonely place and sometimes i need a
blog to get shit off my chest. So take it or leave it… here it is.

Donna Summers ACTUP Letter Becomes Public

Remember 1989?  When there was no internet. News DID NOT travel at the speed of light. People used snail mail. It was very hard to get your message out, effectively.

Donna Summer became an instant icon for the gay community
during her 1970s heyday. So when she allegedly made a number of
religion-inspired remarks about the gay community as well as HIV/AIDS
during a 1983 performance, the “Queen of Disco” faced an immediate
backlash.  But, she had no idea the backlash was going on. She was shielded by the people around her.

“It was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve,” Summer was quoted as having said during the Atlantic City performance by the Village Voice, according to The Advocate.
She is said to have also noted, “I’ve seen the evil homosexuality come
out of you people… AIDS is the result of your sins. Now don’t get me
wrong; God loves you. But not the way you are now.”

Now, however, a letter of apology written by Summer to a prominent AIDS advocacy group in 1989 has emerged in its entirety for the first time via POZ Magazine’s blog. In it, the singer, who died of lung cancer at 63 last month,
denies making the remarks about the gay community, but whether or not
it would’ve been enough to appease those sullen fans at the time it was
written is uncertain.

Why this letter was never  made public, who knows.  ACTUPs  media coordinator at the time, knew it existed. And he was able to recover it from the archives, which are now in storage. Was it suppressed from the public by ACTUP because ACTUP wanted to control this whole mishap with Summer?  No one will ever really know.

But thanks  to  POZ Blogs PETER STALEY for this wonderfully insightful story.
