Ben Cohen Launches STAND UP Magazine
I met Ben Cohen about 1 year ago
dedicated to raising awareness of the long-term, damaging effects of
bullying, and funding those doing real-world work to stop it.
The first issue of the quarterly publication (photo) hits on Nov. 14
with a W Midtown Hotel launch party hosted by the cover boy – Cohen, who
else? – himself, according to a Wednesday announcement from Cohen and
his Atlanta-based foundation.
The magazine will carry the tagline “True
Champions Stand Up,” feature athletes’ personal stories, and focus on
the “best in sports, including character, fairness and inclusion.”
StandUp magazine benefits the Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation and its
effort to fight bullying and remove homophobia from sports. It will be
available nationwide with planned distribution by subscription and at
Barnes & Noble stores. Future issues are scheduled to come out in
February, May and August 2013.
Of course, Cohen has experience as a cover boy and using his sex
appeal to further his cause with gay fans in Atlanta across the world. Video of his sexy 2013 calendar shoot is a hit in itself. The magazine cover follows his StandUp underwear line, a hot 2012 calendar (view photos), just as scrummy and yummy 2011 calendar and soaking wet 2010 calendar.

spoke of his interest in a potential film career, released photos where he
appears topless and soaked in water, September 26 in a series of snaps from the
upcoming calendar, his first official one.

alderman Joe Moreno, Chick-fil-A has NOT agreed to end its anti-gay
donations.

I talked earlier today personally with
Dan Cathy, CEO of Chick Fil-A about the new reports that Chick Fil-A had
capitulated to demands of the supporters of same sex marriage. This is
not true. The company continues to focus on the fair treatment of all of
its customers and employees, but to end confusion gave me this
statement:
“There continues to be erroneous implications in the
media that Chick-fil-A changed our practices and priorities in order to
obtain permission for a new restaurant in Chicago. That is incorrect.
Chick-fil-A made no such concessions, and we remain true to who we are
and who we have been.”
In part, the press release from CRA states: September 18, 2012 – Chicago, Illinois – The Civil Rights Agenda (TCRA),
Illinois’ leading lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil
rights advocacy organization, has learned that Alderman Moreno has
finalized his negotiations with Chick-Fil-A. Alderman Moreno has
confirmed that Chick-fil-A will no longer give money to anti-gay
organizations and that they have clarified in an internal document that
the company will treat every person equally, regardless of sexual
orientation. The Civil Rights Agenda worked closely with the Alderman in
an advisory role as he negotiated these concessions with the executives
at Chick-fil-A. Additionally, members of TCRA spoke directly with
executives at Chick-fil-A during negotiations to aid in educating their
decision makers about anti-discrimination policies and issues affecting
the LGBT community.
We have called both Alderman Moreno AND the Civil Rights Agenda –
Anthony Martinez from TCRA said, “We
would like clarification from Mr. Cathy and Alderman Moreno on this
matter. Chick-fil-A either lied or they are being very stealth about how
they characterize this matter with their base.”

local Syracuse, New York newspaper nearly ten months after he
disappeared in Vienna. We contacted his mother, Kathy, who lived only
thirty minutes from our home in New York, and asked if she would be
willing to be interviewed on camera. Our intention was to get a fuller
understanding of Aeryn’s case, since so little was written about it. We
were uncertain exactly what the story was, and whether or not we would
choose to pursue it.
We interviewed Kathy a few months later
in December 2008. We didn’t know it then, but this was the first time
she was revealing the full extent of her search for Aeryn. Even her
closest friends didn’t know. But even though we knew we were onto an
extraordinary story, we were unsure how to approach it. We thought we
were pursuing a narrative about a missing man, but after meeting Kathy,
what we realized was that GONE was really about a mother’s ongoing
struggle to find her son amidst a surreal tale of lies, intimidation and
cruelty.
And so, as we began to shoot GONE in
Central New York and Vienna, Austria, we were guided by a simple,
defining premise: to immerse viewers in Kathy’s mesmerizing, personal
quest for the truth.”

Lets face it – GRINDR is not a matchmaking dating site – it’s a hook up site. And lets also face it, A LOT of gay men have anonymous sex and I would bet, quite a few, do not play safe.

Reps for the 31-year-old heiress claim that the quotes were taken out
of context when they were secretly recorded by the NYC cab driver.
“Paris Hilton’s comments were to express that it is dangerous for
anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening
disease,” Hilton’s rep told RadarOnline.com.
“The conversation became heated, after a close gay friend told her in a
cab ride, a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having
unprotected sex. He also discussed a website that encourages random sex
by gay men with strangers.”
“As she was being shown the website her comments were in reference to
those people promoting themselves on the site. The cab driver who
recorded this, only provided a portion of the conversation.
“It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays,”
the rep continued. “Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay
community and would never purposefully make any negative statements
about anyone’s sexual orientation.”

Scandal in the Boy Scouts – Years of Child Molestation Revealed this Week
THE GAYS DIDN’T’ DO IT!
Thank goodness the Boy Scouts keep the gays out of their group. Because now they can’t blame us, for this!
Sept 16 (Reuters) – The Boy Scouts of America could face a wave of bad
publicity as decades of records of confirmed or alleged child molesters
within the U.S. organization are expected to be released in coming
weeks.
On Sunday, the Los Angeles Times reported
the organization failed to report allegations of sex abuse of scouts by
adult leaders and volunteers to police in hundreds of cases from 1970
to 1991. In some cases, the Boy Scouts helped the accused “cover their
tracks,” the paper said.
In the wake of revelations about systemic child sex abuse within the
Catholic Church and the recent Penn State sex abuse scandal, the files
threaten to damage the reputation of one of America’s most trusted
institutions.
The organization is facing more than 50 pending child sexual abuse
cases in 18 states, according to Kelly Clark, another plaintiff
attorney in the Oregon case.

Rupert Everett is Against Gay Families
I used to really like Rupert Everett…before his facelift. Since his facelift, perhaps they pulled his skin too tight? I think it is affecting his brain. He says the dumbest things and now, has turned me against him. His a bitter queen who really should keep his internal homophobic remarks to himself.
You may remember, a few years back he told aspiring actors to STAY IN THE CLOSET.
Rupert Everett has been openly gay since he came out 20 years ago, but he doesn’t recommend that route for other actors.
“It’s not that advisable to be honest. It’s not very easy,” he told UK’s Guardian. “And, honestly, I would not advise any actor necessarily, if he was really thinking of his career, to come out.”
NOW the actor has come under fire after he made a shocking attack on gay fathers.
The
53-year-old gay actor – who played a gay father opposite Madonna in
2000 film The Next Best Thing – has given a controversial interview to
the Sunday Times Magazine, sparking a backlash from gay rights
campaigners.
Rupert said: “I can’t think of anything worse than
being brought up by two gay dads. Some people might not agree with that.
Fine! That’s just my opinion.”

Zac Efron is Flattered By His Gay Fans

It’s not just millions of women around the world that love Zac Efron – and nobody knows that better
than Efron himself. Only, the 24-year-old actor who came to prominence in the Disney Channel’s High
School Musical, and stars in the upcoming southern thriller The Paperboy from director Lee Daniels, told the gay glossy The Advocate he doesn’t mind the attention at all.
“It’s very flattering,” he said, acknowledging his gay fan base in his first interview with an LGBT
publication.
“After High School Musical and Hairspray, I’ve always felt embraced by the gay community,” he continued. “And I feel incredibly grateful.”
“I think the gay audience related to my character Troy,” Efron said, referring to the character he played in the 2006 High School Musical film. “Because it really was a story of embracing who you are, no matter how different you might be, and not being afraid to show it. That’s a universal theme for everyone, but it specifically resonated with the gay community, and I felt very proud of that.”
Efron told The Advocate, “This is actually a very special interview for me. I’m extremely aware of the support I’ve gotten from you guys over the years and it’s amazing that it’s taken this long to sit down and actually discuss it, but please know that it hasn’t gone unappreciated. I’m so excited to be talking to you.”
In the interview, Efron recalls his time as a young musical theater kid and how being gay was never taboo in his social circles. “Being gay was just another way you can be. I never really had time to think about it or have any preconceived notions. I don’t judge anyone and I never have.”
“I might’ve been less aware of it back then,” he adds, “but without question I had gay role models.”
He says he would never take a role just for the sake of playing gay but is always looking for a role that’s challenging, different, and entails some risk, “so there’s no doubt in my mind that one of those characters will be gay at some point in the future.”
Efron, who identifies as straight, has had his sexual orientation questioned but maintains that he is not the least bit bothered by the rumors. “I don’t like to live in fear about things like rumors and backlash to begin with – that’s the way I was raised – but I just can’t see what’s so wrong about being gay.”
Efron even came out in support of same-sex marriage, telling The Advocate, “It’s an issue that affects so many people in my life – a lot of my close friends and some of the most influential people around me. I just want them all to be happy. It would make me so happy to see them able to live their lives and do what they want to do.”
Omar Sharif Jr in Max Makowski’s Paradise at Sundance
The grandson actor Omar Sharif “hesitantly confessed” in an article this past spring, that he is gay and half Jewish, and worried about being welcome in Egypt.
Back in the Spring, Omar Sharif Jr. wrote in The Advocate,
“I write this article in fear. Fear for my country, fear for my family,
and fear for myself. My parents will be shocked to read it, surely
preferring I stay in the shadows and keep silent, at least for the time
being. But I can’t.”
Sharif
expressed his disappointment at the recent parliamentary elections,
writing that the revolution gave him hope for a “more tolerant and equal
society,” but now he is not as hopeful.
“The
vision for a freer, more equal Egypt – a vision that many young
patriots gave their lives to see realized in Tahrir Square – has been
hijacked. The full spectrum of equal and human rights are now wedge
issues used by both the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces and the Islamist parties, when they should be regarded as universal truths,” Sharif wrote.
“I write … for fear that Egypt’s Arab Spring may be moving us backward, not forward,” he wrote.
Sharif, an actor like his grandfather, left Egypt in January 2011, just
before the revolution. He now resides in the United States.

Stevie Wonder gave a rather disappointing quote he talked to The Guardian about the coming-out of singer Frank Ocean.
When asked earlier this week about Frank Ocean, Wonder said:
I think honestly, some people who think they’re gay, they’re confused.
People can misconstrue closeness for love. People can feel connected,
they bond. I’m not saying all [gay people are confused]. Some people
have a desire to be with the same sex. But that’s them.While I do believe, many people can be confused about sexuality. Especially with the peer pressure I grew up with. Teenagers have it little easier these days. But for
a American beloved SuperStar to respond in such a
way to the first-time-in-history coming out of a hip-hop/R&B star
was hurtful, and suggests that maybe Mr. Wonder wasn’t entirely
comfortable with Frank Ocean’s gayness. He must have gay friends – he is in the entertainment for Gods sake!
Mr. Wonder has tried to clear things up with a statement to The Advocate:
I’m sorry that my words about anyone feeling confused about their love
were misunderstood. No one has been a greater advocate for the power of
love in this world than I; both in my life and in my music. Clearly,
love is love, between a man and a woman, a woman and a man, a woman and a
woman and a man and a man. What I’m not confused about is the world
needing much more love, no hate, no prejudice, no bigotry and more
unity, peace and understanding. Period.I am going to have a hard time believing him.

The Republican Party will continue to endorse the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA)
and a federal constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. No surprises there. Most LGBT
Americans are very well aware of the fact that GOP candidates campaign with the view that traditional
marriage is between one man and one woman.
On August 28, the Republican Party released its state platforms and its planks haven’t been well- received by LGBT Americans because it contains antigay bias and going so far as to say the advancement of LGBT rights “is an assault on the foundations of our society.”
The plank on social issues (Tony Perkins of the anti-gay Family Research Council claims to have written the planks) targets the Obama administration for supporting LGBT rights in a number or arenas. “The current Administration’s open defiance of this constitutional principle— in its handling of immigration cases, in federal personnel benefits, in allowing a same-sex marriage at a military base, and in refusing to defend DOMA in the courts — makes a mockery of the President’s inaugural oath,” it states.
Directly addressing courtroom fights over the constitutionality of marriage equality the plank
states, “This is more than a matter of warring legal concepts and ideals. It is an assault on the
foundations of our society, challenging the institution which, for thousands of years in virtually every civilization, has been entrusted with the rearing of children and the transmission of cultural values.”
According to the Advocate, “Nearly half of the 2012 Republican state platforms are now available online, offering the public cross-country access to the party’s political stances and their corresponding rationale. Apart from Washington, D.C., which has amended its platform to call for equal rights regardless of sexual orientation, nearly every state platform rigidly defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Other exceptions include the platforms of Indiana and Wisconsin, which refrain from addressing the issue of marriage altogether.”
Many platforms offer rationales for their opposition to same-sex marriage.
The California platform, for example, adopts the “history and tradition” argument, asserting, “The family is a foundation upon which American society has grown and prospered for over 200 years. We support the two-parent family as the best environment for raising children, and therefore believe it is important to define marriage as being between one man and one woman.”
Other state platforms adopt a religious defense.
The Advocate reports Arkansas, Oregon, and Texas specifically mention God or “divine” ordinance as a reason to oppose same-sex unions. Whereas most states file their beliefs under a “Family” or “Marriage” heading, Texas devotes an entire section to the subject of “Homosexuality” that expands its justifications to include majority rule:
“We affirm that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society and contributes to the breakdown of the family unit. Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God, recognized by our country’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans. Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable ‘alternative’ lifestyle, in public policy, nor should ‘family’ be redefined to include homosexual ‘couples.’”
Other topics of GOP planks that generally annoyed Americans were rape, abortion, call for an audit of the Federal Reserve, add a constitutional amendment requiring the vote of a supermajority of Congress to raise taxes (except in times of war or national emergency), and turning Medicaid into a block grant to the states shifting Medicare to premium-support model, in which seniors in the future are given a subsidy with which to purchase a private health insurance plan.

Prince Harry, the third in line to the throne, behind his father, Prince Charles, and brother William, had a little too much fun in Las Vegas recently. Harry and his entourage reportedly met some girls in the Wynn hotel bar and invited them up to his VIP suite. The partygoers decided to play a game of strip billiards and based on the photos that have surfaced from that night – it appears that Harry was losing severely.
The 27-year-old can be seen cupping his genitals in one naked photo and bear-hugging a woman in another – while wearing just a necklace and Rolex watch. The now-infamous snapshots were printed in the British tabloid Sun. And that isn’t the worst of it. The New York Post reports that video footage of the naked romp is now being shopped around and an eyewitness claims to have seen guests snorting cocaine at the party.
Obviously the photos made the rounds and condemnation came from far and wide. “Here is yet another example of yet another privileged guy that never has to grow up” and so on.
But not everybody is chastising the Party Prince. Facebook group “Support Prince Harry with a Naked Salute,” is showcasing current or former members of the military in photos of themselves naked and saluting in solidarity with the rebellious royal, Prince Harry.
“This is for fun, friendly harmless fun to support Prince Harry, if you cause offence you will be removed immediately,” Jordan Wylie, creator of the group, said on Facebook. “Please respect the rules, keep it clean, cover your crown jewels and royal assets and show us your best salute, thank you for your continued support — We salute you Prince Harry.”

So why the military connection? Prince Harry is a helicopter pilot and captain in the British Army.

James Franco in gay Cruising Remake…Sort of
Staging graphic scenes inspired by the
notorious 1980 Al Pacino film is just the latest effort from a star
preoccupied with same-sex themes.
Detailed in a new piece from Indiewire, sees the star of the upcoming Oz: The Great and Powerful working with Travis Mathews,
an erotic art-film director. Franco approached Mathews to oversee a
project that would attempt to re-create 40 minutes of lost footage from Cruising — a 1980 William Friedkin film starring Al Pacino as an NYPD officer who goes deep undercover into the gay leather scene to catch a serial killer. (Friedkin tweeted today
that Franco had called him “about this 2 days ago,” adding, “I have no
idea what he has in mind, but he has no remake rights,” which is true.
The “lost footage” angle is an attempt at exploiting a legal loophole.)
The notorious movie, which featured real S&M participants as
extras and explicit depictions of public gay sex, is considered
shockingly graphic even by today’s standards. The result of this latest
collaboration — James Franco’s Cruising — was filmed over a
period of two days. The first cut features “real gay sex in it,” Travis
says, just as Franco, who plays himself in the film, had instructed.
