Noam Ash and My Gay Roommate
My Gay Roommate (MGR) is a rather new comedy web series that explores the relationship between two college roommates – one who is very gay, and one who is straight. It follows their experiences, altercations, and the slightly absurd situations they find themselves in as first time college students — everything from losing their virginities to cleanliness and everything in between. Season 1 was released in November 2012. Season 3 has just started and episode one finds Nick in New York, looking for a new roommate.
“We started out our senior year at Tufts with a bunch of our friends in a college dorm. The team felt that a gay-straight friendship duo hadn’t been explored much in the media, so we decided to make our own series for the interwebs.” tells Noam.
“MGR is about us. We (Austin Bening and Noam) were roommates all four years of college. Our content is basically a dramatic interpretation of our own lives. We wanted to collaborate on a project for a while, and ended up telling on our own story. It was a four year research process that led to this little series. “
“Even at a liberal place like Tufts, people found our relationship odd. Some thought Austin was secretly gay, or that Noam had this insatiable crush on him. But in reality, we were just two best friends.
Not a lot of media explores the Gay-Straight dynamic in a way that describes us, so we thought we’d add our own voice. It was also a way for us to document our time at college. My Gay Roommate season 1 is the ‘greatest hits’ of our freshman year told in 20 minutes.”
Even if you never had a straight roommate, you’ll still find this show funny and entertaining as it covers everything from the guys losing their virginity to cleanliness and a very funny buttery episode.
“We hoped it would find an audience, but we never thought it would catch on like it did, ” says Noam. The are approaching 2,000,000 views!
“the Internet can be a wonderful place. We love the tweets, blog posts, likes, comments, everything. It makes our day!! Keep watching – lots more fun to come!”

Sadly, model, actor, singer QUENTIN ELIAS died yesterday of a massive heart attack. He may have been 33 – or 39, no one knew for sure. The official press release will come today – many people speculate steroids were the cause – Quentin always said he never ever did any drugs.
Strangely, the last song he recorded in October, Why Did You Leave Me Now, Why Did You Die, will become his own swan song.
Elias has modeled for several fashion designers such as Armani and Jean Paul Gaultier.
He relocated to New York in 2002 and released the single “Always the Last to Say Goodbye”. He also performed at local gay venues and events such as Splash Bar, and Tom of Finland events.
Besides performing some original songs, Elias has recorded some covers, like Madonna’s song “Holiday”, and “Shattered Dreams” by British pop group Johnny Hates Jazz. Continuing to perform and record, Elias released a maxi single “Serve It Up” in 2005 and a solo album “What If I?”
In September 2005, he started his own corporation Quentin Elias Music, Inc.. As a return to the French public after years in the States, he engaged in a comeback tour in 2011 and 2012, that included dates various European francophone venues under the title “Quentin Elias (Re Invented)” promoting his new release and remakes of old hits.
A year later he returned with the Justify 2013 Tour. Here is our tribute to him….more at the end…

Les Beaux Frères – Raphael and Yohan
2015! Watch for these boys!
“Les Beaux Frères” are a dynamic and appealing duo. Their charisma and talent has been praised through North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Their training at the National Circus School in Montréal and the Circus School of Québec have elevated their performance technique to an international calibre, and has also contributed to their versatility in circus arts and the style and energy that they bring to the stage. That’s why they can be found performing everywhere from the circus tent, the cabaret stage, festivals, street shows, or in contemporary circus companies. Notably, they have performed with Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloize, and the 7 doigts de la main.
This tenacious duo is strengthened by their distinct personalities. Raphaël’s calculating spirit and ease of nature is complementary to the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of Yohann. They have developed over time with many years of partnership and cooperation. The Beaux Frères share their passion, their multidisciplinarity, their human side, and their desire to have fun. Heads up, their delirium is contagious!
Machine de Cirque, a modern circus company based in Quebec, featuring “Les Beaux Frères”, presents their first production in March 2015. This project which combines circus techniques, percussion and automation is the product of very successful research and creation sessions in 2012-2013. WATCH FOR THEM! Watch their Towel Act here!

Ukraine Seeks Freedom – Please Share
Ongoing protests known as the Euromaidan have been taking place in Ukraine, with protestors demanding an end to the Ukrainian dictatorship and closer integration with the European Union. This month, clashes between protestors and the government have steeply intensified, and yesterday at least 26 people were killed. The goverment is beating people, calling them “extremists”. All they want is freedom!
The Ukraine also wants to adopt Russia’s rules against gay people.
We want to be free from the politicians who work only for themselves, who are ready to shoot, to beat, to injure people, just for saving their money, just for saving their houses, just to saving their power.
I want these people who are here, who have dignity, who are brave, I want them to lead a normal life. We are civilized people, but our government are barbarians. That’s not a soviet union. We want our courts not to be corrupted. We want to be free.
Interspersed with still images and video footage of the violent clashes between protestors and police in Kiev, a young thin white woman, speaking in accented English, speaks directly to the camera. PLEASE SHARE THIS!
ABBA’s Crazy Costumes Had a Reason Behind Them
The glittering hotpants, sequined jumpsuits and platform heels that Abba wore at the peak of their fame were designed not just for the four band members to stand out – but also for tax efficiency, according to claims over the weekend.
Swedish law meant costumes could be deducted against tax so long as they were so outrageous they could not possibly be worn on the street.

The Target Employee
The Target store is a strange place. It does its very best to pretend it isn’t a corporation. There are no clerks perched at desk saying “please hold” every few minutes as if they are auditioning to be an extra in a movie or sour-faced showgirls stacking shelves with garish products, hurrying along pretending they’re too busy to help you, no groaning rails or stacks of boxes that clutter the isles like an unkempt warehouse. Instead, it’s a store for the confused. Shoppers, usually pushing a stroller pass by wondering idly if they should get this kind of shampoo because their love interest saw the checkbook last month.
It is a Monday when I arrive at the Target store. I have a goal in mind, as every shopper has before they get sidetracked by the deals Target displays like a new kind of cure for cancer. I am here to get some clothes and some electronics, and I will not be distracted by anyone or anything in this store. I want to get back in my warm apartment and continue bonding with my email client before I bond with my Microsoft Word document and then my Netflix account. I make my way to a place that I have to go to before anywhere else; the customer service desk so I can have an employee guide me around the store.

Obama Thanks Edie Windsor
What a wonderful time to be gay. (Except in Russia and Uganda). We are seeing so many advances in our lifetime, it can’t help but make you feel proud!
President Obama met this week with Edie Windsor, the octogenarian lesbian whose landmark case at the U.S. Supreme Court stuck down the so-called Defense of Marriage Act.
In a post on the White House’s official blog today, the Obama administration thanked Edie Windsor for her role in advancing equality for LGBT Americans. And on Wednesday, President Barack Obama himself thanked the 84-year-old lesbian widow for taking her case to the U.S. Supreme Court and earning a landmark ruling that effectively gutted the so-called Defense of Marriage Act.
“When the Court handed down its decision last June, President Obama called Edie from Air Force One to congratulate her on her victory,” wrote senior Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett on the White House blog today. “And earlier this week, the President invited Edie to the France State Dinner and the Oval Office to thank her in person. … The thanks expressed by the President that day have been echoed by millions of Americans, including thousands of legally married couples who can now live their lives with greater justice and dignity — thanks to heroes like Edie Windsor who have been willing to stand up and fight for equality under the law.”
Stoli Group (USA) to invest $300,000 to support LGBT Programs
Stoli Group (USA) and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center today announced a three-year partnership to fight inequality by investing in the development of LGBT leaders domestically and around the globe.
Under the partnership, Stoli will donate $300,000 to support the Center’s Leadership LAB (Learn, Act, Build): a program that helps current and future LGBT leaders and allies throughout the country and around the world to develop critical leadership skills. The aim of Leadership LAB is to prepare the next generation of LGBT leaders to effectively advocate for equal rights, build strong organizations, and fight anti-LGBT ballot measures.
“Over the last few years we’ve experienced tremendous gains in freedom and equality for LGBT Americans, but there is still much work to be done, especially in states where organizing for LGBT equality remains very challenging,” said Lorri L. Jean, Chief Executive Officer of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. “And while we’re also making gains internationally, there have been big and significant setbacks. Extremists, acknowledging they’re losing the battle here, are expanding their influence in other countries by demonizing LGBT people and attacking our freedoms. Their influence must be countered. This extraordinary commitment by Stoli Group USA sets a terrific example for all corporations.”
PLUS
Stoli Group USA has announced a $150,000 donation to support the Russian Freedom Fund.
The Russian Freedom Fund is a vehicle for making financial contributions in support of Russia’s LGBT rights movement and efforts to combat anti-gay discrimination in the former Soviet Republic.

Chris Kluwe on Sochi
“What is the true price of fame? The price of fame is what you risk when you have the platform. As an athlete, a role model for society, people listen to you. As an athlete, when you make a statement, that statement is heard, no matter what that statement is.
Speak up for LBGTQ rights, for human rights, for empathy? The world will pay attention, and take notice. Stay silent, keep your head down, count the money and endorsements? The world will pay attention, and take notice. Either way, you’re the one who has to live with what you did or didn’t do. I hope that athletes speak out at Sochi on LBGTQ issues, even knowing the possible risks that await them.
“I know that it could cost them their livelihoods, their careers, everything they’ve worked towards. I know that it can lead to recriminations, harsh words from a public who just wants their entertainment, no matter how much blood it’s packaged in. I know that it’s one of the hardest steps a person can take, and that there is no guarantee of a reward at the end, other than knowing you did the right thing at the right time with nothing to show for it but angry tweets and emails tempered by the messages of support and affection from those in whose lives you made a difference, those currently being abused by the oppressive and ignorant.”
sidenote –
Chris Kluwe vs. Minnesota Vikings is far from over. In fact, the situation is now set to escalate into the litigation phase.
On Thursday the team announced that Kluwe’s nemesis Mike Priefer will stay as Vikings special teams coach, and Kluwe now likely will sue. At least that was the indication from Kluwe’s lawyer, who spoke to a Twin Cities media figure about the team’s decision to retain Priefer.
Kluwe’s lawyer Clayton Halunen used strong language in denouncing the Vikings’ decision to keep Priefer on board. Kluwe accuses Priefer of using homophobic slurs in the Vikings’ locker room, and says the team’s decision to fire him as punter had nothing to do with performance but was rather motivated by personal animus. read the full article.
Fallout from Sochi Continues
COKE may still be at Sochi but Budwesier is saying a big NO to Sochi!
There’s no Bud for you, Sochi … TMZ Sports has learned Budweiser has decided to NOT throw its traditional Winter Olympics party this year and it’s all because the company is not comfortable with the situation in Russia.
In the past, Budweiser was known for hosting huge parties — like the Club Bud bashes during the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver and at the 2006 Olympics in Turin.
In fact, we’ve seen an email from a Budweiser rep which says the company does not want its U.S.-based representatives in Sochi … and the message is clear — the terrorist threat is simply looming too large.
A rep for Anheuser-Busch confirms to TMZ Sports … there will be no Club Bud in Sochi — but the rep didn’t give a reason for why the company is not throwing the party.
And as the games begin, there’s even dissent from partners: AT&T was among the first sponsors of the US Olympic Committee to officially object to the laws (Chobani and DeVry University also spoke out), and now Google is showing their true colors as well — literally.
Google’s new front page Thursday, visible internationally and including Google.ru, shows athletes superimposed over a rainbow, a well-known symbol of gay pride. Below the search box is an excerpt from the official Olympic Charter.
