Scrooge and Marley Post Production Fundraiser

From the producers:

Scrooge & Marley is a modern-day variation on Charles Dickens’ classic story of the holidays, A Christmas Carol.

In May, we had a fantastic film shoot in
Chicago, complete with snow scenes, ghosts, purgatory, disco dancing at
Fezziwig’s (with owner Bruce Vilanch!), cabaret, hot dancers, and lots
of terrific actors. After nearly 3 weeks of shooting we are now in the
editing/post-production stage. This includes the recording/mastering of
all the original songs that are sung in the movie.

We are now in the home stretch and could
really use your Christmas spirit—in July! Please help us complete this
Christmas story for the whole family. We are all very excited to bring
you a wonderful holiday movie this season!

Scrooge is played by David Pevsner, Marley
by Tim Kazurinsky, and they are joined by Rusty Schwimmer, Bruce
Vilanch, Megan Cavanagh, Richard Ganoung, Ronnie Kroell, David Moretti,
JoJo Baby, Becca Kaufman, plus a host of Chicago actors.

Recounted from a gay sensibility, with
heart, comedy and music, the magic of Dickens’ timeless tale of a man’s
redemption at the holidays—thanks to the help of three ghostly spirits—
comes alive from a fresh perspective that will appeal to audiences of
every persuasion.

The film is based on an original script by Ellen Stoneking, Richard Knight, Jr. and the late Timothy Imse. It was directed by Knight and Peter Neville.

Thanks to Mark MacLean for voice over and Lisa McQueen for the music in this trailer!

Won’t you join our cast and crew in celebrating?

Barbra Streisand Responds to Larry Kramers Allegations

Correcting Larry Kramer –

The Truth About Our

Effort To Make

The Normal Heart

Larry Kramer does not need me to publicize his beautiful play.
It stands on its own. For the last time – I will answer his complaints,
which rewrite history.

When I saw the play in 1985 I was very moved and
immediately contacted Larry to acquire the rights. After going through
several drafts with Larry, I hired another writer to develop a
screenplay that was faithful to Larry’s play — but adapting it to make
it more cinematic. It was finished in 1995. Ralph Fiennes and Kenneth
Branagh were interested in doing the version that I oversaw.

I tried very hard to get it made, but when it became
clear that we couldn’t raise the money to do it as a film due to the
controversial nature of the material, I thought, all right, we’ll do it
on TV. At least it would reach a wide audience. But even HBO would only
pay Larry $250,000 for the rights, and he would not let it go forward
for anything less than $1,000,000 and no company was willing to move on
it.

After ten years, the rights reverted back to Larry. But
even when I had no contractual involvement, I still persisted in
pressing to get The Normal Heart made, purely because I believed in the
project. As producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron can confirm, I thought
that if we could get a great cast together, maybe a studio would finally
finance it and we could persuade Larry to let us do it. I offered the
part of the doctor to Julia Roberts because I thought she would be
terrific. I also asked Mark Ruffalo and Bradley Cooper to be in it, and
they said yes to my adaptation of the screenplay. By the way, this is
not to say that it wouldn’t have been rewritten again. The work is
never done until the movie is released.

I think it’s unfair to keep blaming me for the movie not
getting made. I worked on it for 25 years, without pay. Larry had the
rights for the last 15 years and he couldn’t get it made either. Those
are the facts, and none of this is news to Larry.

More recently, he sent me a note before giving the
project to another director, asking me again if I wanted to direct it —
but only with his screenplay. As a filmmaker, I couldn’t have my hands
tied like that. What if I needed changes? Sadly, I turned his offer
down and wished him well.

I will always believe in Larry’s play and its powerful theme about everyone’s right to love.

Noted Gay Homosexuals Discuss MAGIC MIKE

The Gay Beatles, a comedy show in LA next week, discuss  MAGIC MIKE.
I swear, the gays are giving this show so much PR!

Four different opinions. Four different gay men. Four living legends
without any musical talent. BUT they do have a talent for talking and
probably fighting. In this talk show, Guy Branum, Bryan Safi, Jeffery Self and Louis Virtel
chat about everything: the week’s news, a celebrity interview, a sex
chat with a porn star and an audience game! It’s like “The Talk” but
unlike Julie Chen, none of them run on a Duracell. Featuring Cissy Fenwick.

Janet Jackson Truth Documentary Looks at Transgender Issues

The LGBT community has always embraced Janet Jackson – and she embraced them back.

Considered to be a gay icon, Jackson garnered a substantial gay following during 1990s as she gained prominence in popular music. Recognized as a long-term ally of the LGBT community, Jackson received the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Music Album for her Grammy Award-winning sixth studio album The Velvet Rope (1997), which spoke out against homophobia and embraced same-sex love.

In 2005, Jackson received the Humanitarian Award from the Human Rights Campaign and AIDS Project Los Angeles in recognition of her involvement in raising funds for AIDS Charities and received the Vanguard Award at the 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards (2008).

Now, Brainchild
Films, a film and television production company based in New York City,
has announced that iconic actress, singer and Academy Award® Nominee
Janet Jackson has signed on to executive produce
“TRUTH”, a film to be directed by Robert Jason.   Fresh off of her sell out tour and New York Times Best Seller True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself, Janet is set to begin production on “TRUTH” in
the summer of 2012. The film will be a groundbreaking documentary
examining the lives, issues and experiences of trans people around the
globe.

“All people are very important to me,” says Janet, “I’ve been fortunate to make friends and learn about very different lives.  ‘TRUTH
is our small chance to ask that you try and understand someone who
lives their life in a way that is a little bit different from yours,
even though all of our hearts are the same.  We want to stop the hate
and find understanding.”

“Janet
Jackson will take us on a visually innovative, cerebral journey through
the turbulent lives of transgendered people of all ages around the
world and their epic struggle for equality. This film will highlight
landmark mainstream stories and provide a glimpse at others that will
change the gender landscape of the world forever,” says director Robert
Jason.  “Just as it is hard to believe that there ever was a
time when different components of society were required to use separate
drinking fountains, it is as incredible that one’s gender expression
remains just such a target for discrimination.”

Many
organizations are taking a step forward in equality and changing their
rules of exclusion of transgender people including the well documented
case of the Miss Universe pageant, the Girl Scouts of America, and
progressive companies such as Google+ who, unlike other social
networking sites, provide “other” as well as “male” and “female” as
choices when signing up for the service.

“TRUTH” is a journey through the lives of trans and non gendered people around the world and their epic struggle for equality.

This is Janet Jackson’s second executive producing title following “Janet Jackson: The Rhythm Nation Compilation.”  Her current production slate also includes an untitled project for Lionsgate.

Nate and Margaret with Tyler Ross and Natalie West

Another MUST SEE film this summer!
 NATE AND MARGARET.

Nate & Margaret asks the question: What if your best friend was your only friend?

Prior to its DVD release coming in August, Nate & Margaret will have its world premiere as the closing night film in the FilmOut San Diego LGBT Film Festival, screen in the Vancouver Queer Film Festival, and enjoy theatrical runs at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago (starting June 8) and at Brooklyn’s reRun Theater (starting June 22).

Nate, a 19-year-old film student, and Margaret, a 52-year-old spinster with a coffee mug addiction, are best friends in an odd, quirky, totally working kind of way…until Nate’s audacious classmate Darla sets him up on a date with James. Nate’s new romance shakes up his friendship with Margaret, who goes off on her own to pursue her lifelong dream of being a stand-up comedian.  As Nate and Margaret attempt to navigate their new lives apart, they come to realize just how important true friendship really is.

Starring noted television actor and theater performer Natalie West (“Roseanne”, Bushwhacked), Tyler Ross (The Wise Kids), and Gaby Hoffmann (200 Cigarettes, Now & Then), Nate & Margaret shows that age really does not matter in the grand scheme of life, love, and friendship. Directed and co-written by Nathan Adloff, star of Blackmail Boys, Nate & Margaret is a tale as old as time, but a fresh twist as a 21st century gay Harold and Maude.

The Breaking Glass  DVD release will be loaded with special features including a behind the scenes featurette, deleted scenes, audition tapes, multiple audio and video commentaries with the director, producers, and writers, and the full version of “Untied Strangers”, a short film featured in Nate & Margaret.

House of Boys with Layke Anderson now on DVD

I am in love with Layke Anderson!
and Benn Northover is pretty delicious as well.

Finally, after making the rounds at Film Festivals around the world and playing in big cites, HOUSE OF BOYS is now available on dvd!

House of Boys is A glamorous, colourful coming-of-age story that follows the dramatic
journey of Frank, (played by Layke)  a high school kid in 1984 through an exciting world of
sex and music, when his deep new passion is suddenly turned into a
struggle for courage, facing a new disease – the “gay cancer” and
becomes deep, true love in the expectancy of his friend’s horrible death
and beyond…

Written by
Jean-Claude Schlim & Christian Thiry.

This is not one of those low budget gay movies with mediocre acting. House of Boys is top notch with awesome actors!  Anderson and Northover are both quite amazing. And their sexy romance is extremely believable.

The supporting cast do a wonderful job. Gintare Parulyte is so lovable, and of course, Udo Kier! is Udo Kier! Perfect as Madame!

The NY Times called the film ” a tragedy in three parts” –  but that makes it sound very dark.

It’s a love story.
It’s a coming of age story.
But true, it ends in tragedy – the story is very reminiscent of Longtime Companion
.

MADONNA W.E.? Mixed Reviews

Madonna landed stateside last night to premiere her directorial debut “W.E.” in New York at the Ziegfeld Theater.

While the dresses Madge wore to the
European premieres were a bit more understated, like the black and pink L’Wren Scott and the blue gown with Chanel leather gloves
for a photocall, you just never know what’s going to happen when you’ve
got one of the world’s most famous faces in front of the camera.

Madge didn’t disappoint. Madonna opted for full-on red
carpet drama in a sheer black Marchesa gown with a lace and sequinencrusted bodice and gravity-defying ruffles on the sleeves

With Madonna’s “W.E.” taking home a Golden Globe
just over a week ago (her “Masterpiece” won Best Original Song), much
of the buzz at the film’s NYC premiere Monday night (January 23) was
about the upcoming Oscar nominations. (Today).

Among
the night’s well-wishers: star Andrea Riseborough , Oscar Isaac, David
Harbour & James D’Arcy + Lady Bunny , Carson Kressley, Diane Von
Furstenberg, Calvin Klein, Julia Stiles, Craig O’Connor, Ivanka Trum,
Vinny Moschetta, Zac Posen, Joey Selden, Mark Nelson, Arik Azulay, Donna
Karan, Christopher Jiménez,Ewan McGregor, Kristopher Haigh and Keith
Jacobson!

Lady Bunny, whose opinion I do value says,I did not enjoy the very confusing film, which Madonna introduced to a
very impatient audience cuz it was almost an hour late and she gave a
dud of a speech.

And then the film? Make that W/E for
whatever? She fancies herself a story-teller? You can’t act,
so…direct? A complete head-scratcher whose plot lost me in the
second scene. In the very first scene, a woman does two things no one
ever does: takes a drag from a cigarette and then gulps some booze
before exhaling (!) and then unzips her dress before removing her high
heels? Never! Ladies, don’t we always kick off the uncomfortable heels
first? Unless you have a crap director who doesn’t know what she’s doing
and isn’t capable of catching stuff like that. Had to split halfway
through.”

When Madonna takes the Super Bowl stage next month, her performance will
reportedly be “imagined” by Cirque du Soleil and Madonna’s longtime
choreographer/ creative director Jamie King. The event may also feature
appearances from her “Gimme All Your Luvin” collaborators, including
Nicki Minaj. According to reports, the set list for the Super Bowl show
will include “Luvin” as well as Madonna classics like “Ray of Light,”
Vogue” and “Music.”

Kimberley Locke to star in T Jones film, “Therapy Sessions”

Many of Kimberley’s fans have asked her over the years when she
was going to get into acting.  Her answer to this question was usually “when
the perfect project comes along.”  That script has presented itself to her
recently.

Kimberley has signed on to star in the new T Jones film, “Therapy
Sessions
“.  The film will also star BernNadette Stanis
(Good Times) & Elise Neal (Scream 2, All Of Us) and is to be
directed by Tony Singletary (The Parkers, Married With Children).

The Therapy Sessions is the story of a young woman hemmed in by her
past.  Diane Phillips continues to make the same mistakes in her quest
for love and acceptance.  After getting over her hang up that black
folks don’t believe in mental health therapy, Diane sets out to make a
new path in life.

But like life can be unpredictable and despite her
best efforts, Diane has to deal with not only past hurts and pains but
the daily drama of being a black woman working in a good ole boys
corporate environment and a love life that is constantly on the skids.
At the end of each week, Diane seeks refuge in her rocks…best friends
Kissie and Payton and her therapist, Dr. Parkin.

This project is
a labor of love written over thirteen years ago.  I believe in this
story and I want you to believe in it as well.

T Jones has launched a campaign on Kickstarter to raise the $7000 needed to
film the trailer which is an important step to securing funding for the film project.
Pledges can be as low as $1 but some really cool incentives have been offered based
on the donation amount:

They NEED YOUR HELP! They are trying to raise $7000  by  Feb. 3rd.

Please pledge a few dollars to help these important films get made!

Best Gay News Urges You to Support SECOND CLASS CITIZENS

ABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY:

A second class citizen is defined
as: a person whose rights and opportunities are treated as less
important than those of other people in the same society. There are many
areas in which gays, lesbians, & bisexuals do not have the same
rights & opportunities as others in society. We must change this
now.

I want to make a documentary that encompasses all areas in
which we are discriminated against. The general population is not aware
that discrimination against the gay community goes beyond marriage &
bullying. There is far too much hate directed towards our community and
I want to capture that hate on camera. In addition, I want to explore
where this hate comes from, why it continues to exist, and what we must
do to get rid of it. A better solution is needed because the solution we
have right now isn’t working fast enough.

I am not a second class
citizen. You are not a second class citizen. Right now, the laws in
place (and lack thereof) say that we are. Let’s change that.

The idea for this documentary was born when I first learned that
California’s Proposition 8 had passed, defining marriage only between a
man & woman in that state. I was angry & I wanted to do
something about it. As time went by, I learned more & more about the
inequalities that exist for gays, lesbians, & bisexuals in this
country. I made a friend on YouTube who revealed to me that he would be
expelled from his school if they found out he was gay.

I did not believe
him – in what kind of reality could something like that be true? It is
true. Shortly after that, a string of natural disasters occurred &
my boss asked me if I wanted to donate blood with her. I immediately got
up to go with her & then stopped abruptly realizing that I couldn’t
donate blood. She did not believe me, nor did she understand why. I
felt like a different species. I did not feel one with the human race in
that moment. That was the moment it had a direct effect on me & my
rights – that is when I decided to make this documentary.

James Franco set to play Robert Mapplethorpe

James Franco is set to star in a dramatic feature about the controversial photographer Robert Mapplethorpe,
which has been selected as one of the projects to receive grants
through the Tribeca Film Institute’s 9th annual Tribeca All Access
Program.

Mapplethorpe, in which Franco would play the artist who defied censors and died of AIDS in 1989, is to be the narrative film.

He was best known for his large-scale, highly stylized black and white portraits, photos of flowers and nude men. The frank homo-eroticism of some of the work of his middle period triggered a  controversy about the public funding of artworks.

Franco discussed rumors of his own gay sexuality last year in Playboy.

Channing Tatums Stripper Flick to Open Gay Pride Weekend

CHANNING TATUM is looking HOT!

He has been working his ass off, to get in top shape for his upcoming stripper  bio-pic.

EW has  new exclusive images from the film,  MAGIC  MIKE, due out Gay Pride Weekend,   June 29.

 EW
caught up with costar Matt Bomer on the red carpet at this weeks
People’s Choice Awards, and  asked about how he prepared,
literally, to show off so much skin.

Check out the EW   interview with Bomer,!

MAGIC  MIKE  stars  Adam Rodriguez and
Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer and Matt Bomer. Oh yeah, and Matthew McConaughey!  Um, wet dream?!

Done with a budget of only  $5  million!  It’s about an upstart male stripper is taken under the wing of a more experienced colleagues….sort of like Burlesque. It is loosely based on Channings stripper years when he was 18-19.

Matt told MTV . “Obviously this movie is targeted toward a certain
demographic
, but I think what people don’t understand is it also has, in
a roundabout way, an appeal for guys too. It’s a coming-of-age story,
very ‘Saturday Night Fever’/’Boogie Nights,’ and Channing’s dancing is
so sick I can’t even tell you.”

Siegfried and Roy on the Big Screen…Liberace on the Small Screen

Steven Soderbergh’s Liberace Movie With Michael Douglas and Matt Damon Heads to HBO.  The previously untitled Liberace movie with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon has now been titled  ‘Behind the Candelabra’ and will start
production next month.

“From the inception of this project, we’ve had two priorities: getting
it right creatively, and getting as many people as possible to see it,”
Soderbergh said in a statement.

Produced by legendary Hollywood mogul Jerry Weintraub (‘Ocean’s Eleven’)
and Gregory Jacobs (‘Contagion’), ‘Behind the Candelabra’ tells the
story of the “tempestuous relationship” between famed singer Liberace
(Douglas) and Scott Thorson (Damon), his younger lover.

“I’ve wanted to make a film about Liberace for a very long time, and
after the amazing experience I had with HBO on ‘His Way,’ I knew that
they were absolutely the right place for this movie,” Weintraub, who was
the subject of ‘His Way,’ said in a statement. “I am thrilled that we
have the incomparable Michael Douglas to inhabit the role of Liberace,
as well as the exceptional Matt Damon to play the pivotal part of Scott
Thorson. Putting these two fine actors in the creative hands of Steven
Soderbergh — it doesn’t get better than that!”

With his flowing blonde hair,
plunging maroon velvet jumpsuit and gold medallions, Steve Carell looked
every inch a show magician as he shot scenes for his latest movie in
Las Vegas this week.

The
49-year-old actor was worlds away from his usual appearance as he filmed
scenes for highly-anticipated comedy Burt Wonderstone alongside Steve
Buscemi and Olivia Wilde.

With his eccentric outfit, it looks like something from  world-famous Vegas magicians Siegfried and Roys closet.

The movie IS NOT about S&R, but  does  tell the story of Vegas
illusionist Wonderstone who reunites with his former magic partner Anton
Lovecraft (Buscemi) as he decides to take on a rival street magician
Steve Haines, played by Jim Carrey.

Watch for it in 2013.

Lesbian Netflix style Video on Demand

One More Lesbian (OML), the largest online curators of non-pornographic LGBT film/TV content, has officially announced the debut of OML+, a premium video-on-demand service.

Moving OML toward becoming the Netflix, Hulu, iTunes and Amazon of the lesbian world, Shirin Papillon (founder & CEO) has kicked-off a new division to bring new non-pornographic films and other specialty entertainment to LGBT audiences around the world via digital platforms.

The one of a kind service will allow users to view a variety of popular lesbian titles as well as independent feature films and shorts for a small fee ranging anywhere from $.99 to $3.99 for a 48-hour viewing period.

A successful dot.com venture, OML has secured its cyberspace presence as not only a trusted brand, but also as the ultimate seminal Mecca of online lesbian movie streaming. An online media platform that strictly serves as an aggregator for video content already existing on other sites, OML is the one-stop emporium for movies, television shows, web series, Vlogs, music videos, live video chats, PSA’s, specials/events and even commercials made for and by lesbians and bi-sexual women.

In addition to hours and hours of films, TV shows, and web series OML will be adding more written content in its “In Words” section and eventually hopes to connect lesbian and bisexual women with music, books, and all things lesbian.

Shirn Papillon, who has an entertainment background as a producer, was doing research for a “lesbian Mad Men” type show when she realized that searching for phrases like “lesbian TV,” “lesbian films,” and “lesbian web series” led her to mostly porn.
“I just had one of these ‘Well there should be a site where you can find good lesbian content …  one site where there’d be films, video, web series, commercials, any content that’s not adult,’” said Papillon.

OML+
is the ultimate way for movie lovers to benefit from the very best in
the world of LGBT entertainment, from the comfort and convenience of
their living room all at the click of a button.  Able to
select from a rich catalog of the latest LGBT cinema, viewers will have
instant access to quality LGBT content that would usually only screen at
film festivals and/or go straight to DVD – films they love and/or have
heard of but may not have access to otherwise.

Papillon doesn’t limit herself to American
produced content. Her team, based all over the world, aids OML in
searching the globe for the best lesbian content.

All I’m going to say is *spoiler alert* that I get to have sex in the shower with a much younger man and then get stabbed to death while coming.  It’s very postmodern Janet Leigh. In other words, dream role!

Got to have some wet fun with sexy star Chris Salvatore.”

Then our bi-coastal Jesse showed up in New York with his boyfriend –  and also with actor/director Casper Andreas –  doing some promotions for the upcoming release of  Violet Tendencies   DVD. (Available on dvd May 24th).  It’s Caspers and Jesses third film together –  and along with Mindy Cohn (Facts of Life) she plays
a woman tries to distance herself from her gay friends in an effort to land a straight boyfriend.

Jesse attended the “wedding” of some dear friends, while in NYC –  THEN Jesse met with his team in  New York to do some post-production of his upcoming comedy about Fire Island called  HALF SHARE.

THEN, I don’t know how he found the time, he chatted with our New York Blogging Buddy  Adam of Adaumbelles Quest.   Jesse talks about “a  few of my favorite things including travel, movies, Angelina Jolie and Smurfette.  Not in that order!”    –  “Travel keeps you young. You’re always discovering new things, like a child, and are able to incorporate these experiences into your life. As a writer, it’s excellent to absorb new influences and inspiration to keep you fresh.”

Gay Pulp Classic DORIAN GRAY Comes to DVD in US

OSCAR WILDE’s DECADENT CLASSIC
WITH A CULT GAY FOLLOWING!

THE SECRET OF DORIAN GRAY IS A HARD-TO-FIND PULP GEM!  Avavilable for the first time in the US  MAY 17th.

RaroVideo U.S. will release THE SECRET OF DORIAN GRAY on DVD May 17. Never before released on DVD in the U.S., this is a seventies classic Italian film restored to its original splendor.

In case you don’t know the story –  In London, a wealthy, god-like, young man, Dorian Gray, loves Sybil, an aspiring actress; thanks to her, he’s momentarily less self-centered. He’s also sitting, scantily clad, for a portrait painted by his ascot-wearing friend, Basil. When it’s done, Dorian complains he’ll grow old while it stays unchanged- the classic plight of the vain.

On the same night, as if he has sold his soul to the devil, exchanging vanity for morality, he ends it with Sybil, and then accepts the seductive offer of a party’s hostess to sleep with her. The next day, the painting looks slightly older. In horror and fascination, Dorian hides it away and continues a life of degradation. Over time, as the portrait becomes hideous, he’s unchanged by his ever-increasing libidinal life; finally, he and Basil face the painting. The exceptionally groovy score by Giuseppe De Luca enhances the seventies milieu.

THE SECRET OF DORIAN GRAY has been newly restored from the original 35mm negative.

You Tube has a fun tribute to the film and Helmut Berger (the star of the film). He was SO SEXY!!

AND  CHECK THIS OUT!

Get ready to read The Picture of Dorian Gray — the way Oscar Wilde intended to to be read. More than 120 years after the classic’s initial release, the original version is about to be published, according to The Telegraph.

Before its serialized publication in Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine in 1890, Wilde’s editor made a number of changes to tone down the book’s homoerotic content. References to the protagonist’s lovers as “mistresses” and other “decadent” phrases were also removed.

One phrase from the original — “it is quite true I have worshipped you with far more romance of feeling than a man should ever give to a friend” — was changed to —”From the moment I met you, your personality had the most extraordinary influence on me.”

Even with the changes, critics called the book “vulgar” and “unclean,” and more passages were removed. Now, editor Nicholas Frankel says it’s finally time to publish the original, and “bring it out of the closet” for a 21st century audience.
