ABBA’s Crazy Costumes Had a Reason Behind Them
The glittering hotpants, sequined jumpsuits and platform heels that Abba wore at the peak of their fame were designed not just for the four band members to stand out – but also for tax efficiency, according to claims over the weekend.
Swedish law meant costumes could be deducted against tax so long as they were so outrageous they could not possibly be worn on the street.

Sales on #98 Jerseys Soar After Jason Collins Coming Out

We are seeing so many great strides in the gay rights movement right now and positive action from so many LGBT supporters! The acceptance we are witnessing this year is overwhelming!
ABC News reports that sales on #98 jerseys soared this week!:
Team spokesman Scott Hall told ABC News
that 100 percent of custom jerseys ordered from the team’s online store
bore Collins’ name and number, 98, on the back, after Collins revealed
his homosexuality in an article published on Sports Illustrated’s
website on Monday…While Hall could not reveal how many custom Collins
jerseys were sold, he said that the team’s general merchandise sales and
online traffic spiked following Collins’ announcement.
I never knew that the “98” was a tribute to Matthew Shepard. Even Judy Shepard was not aware of the tribute to her gay son.
The mother of a gay University of Wyoming
student who was robbed and beaten to death in 1998 says she finds it
touching that NBA veteran Jason Collins honored her son by wearing
jersey No. 98.
Matthew Shepard’s mother, Judy, said that she
hadn’t known about the tribute by Collins, who this week became the
first player still active in one of the four major U.S. professional
sports leagues to announce that he is gay.
“We’re very touched that he regards Matthew as
somebody special,” Judy Shepard said in a telephone interview. “We’re
especially happy that now he feels free to be himself. We’re happy for
him, relieved that his news is being received so well across the board.”
While Collins hid his sexual orientation up
until now, he said he quietly made a statement for gay rights by wearing
No. 98 with the Boston Celtics and the Washington Wizards. The number refers to 1998, the year Matthew Shepard was tied to a fence and beaten
outside Laramie.
ES Addicted Mens Clothing Line Expands this Year
I first became a fan of ES underwear and swimsuits in 2010, when I found their stores in Barcelona. Now ES Collection
has ventured beyond underwear and swimwear.
Already they launched their
athletic wear collection and now there is also casual wear. Jeans,
shirts, shorts. Yes even awesome colorful sneakers and cool hip belts. Wrestling singlets and backless undies, running pants, t-shirts and tanks…You simply have no more
reason to not wear ES Collection. In fact, you can fill your entire closet with
complete ES outfits!

Fierce is a collection for
an energetic man, bold and without any complex.
Remarkable colors,
new fabrics and the genuine ES Collection
designs on the new jeans will not leave you indifferent.
ES
Collection’s Spring/Summer collection 2013 couldn’t have been more
blazing.
And of course ES Collection always guarantees
that same superior quality we all know so well from their swimwear and
underwear in this new exciting collection as well.
GORGEOUS Kirill Dowidoff already posed for ES before. In fact, his work with ES
Collection back in 2012 was an enormous boost for his modeling career,
and the handsome Russian has been offered many gigs ever since. But not
forgetting who made that all happen, Kirill agreed once again to
collaborate with the popular Spanish brand for their new Fierce campaign.

David Beckhams Underwear at H&M
Frankly, I have seen David Beckham look better. Mind you, I would not kick him out of bed for eating crackers – I just think he has looked better.
That said, the father-of-four shows off his toned physique, as well as his many tattoos, in the pictures that were shot in L.A. by photographer Alasdair McLellan.
Posting the pictures on his Facebook
page this morning, Beckham wrote: ‘Hey everyone, here are a few shots
from my new Bodywear range for H&M. Hope you like them.’
Fans responded in their thousands by
‘liking’ the pictures and commenting on how ‘hot’ and ‘handsome’ the
star looks with his moustache and quiff hair do. – again, not a fan of that daddy look! Just sayin!
The L.A. Galaxy player joined joined
forces with H&M to design a range of underwear for men in February,
following in the footsteps of his fashion designer wife, Victoria.
In a statement he said: ‘I am so
excited about this new campaign for David Beckham Bodywear at H&M. I
wanted to express the strength and quality of the David Beckham
Bodywear collection with these images and also the wearability and fit.
‘I love the range and feel so comfortable in each of the pieces. It has become second nature for me to wear it!’
JC Penny Keeps Pushing the Gay Lesbian Envelope

At this point, I just think One Million Moms need to get lives.
The group who calls
themselves One Million Moms, despite comprising only 40,000 members, is after JCPenney once again, this time because of their recent May mailer, which includes a photo of a lesbian couple with their two daughters.
OMM feel as if this means JCPenney is somehow taking sides, and they
want them to take a “neutral stand.”
What would those sides be, exactly?
Anti-gay vs. pro-gay? Right-wing vs. left-wing? Christian vs.
otherwise? What these women are missing is that JCPenney is taking a “neutral” stand.
Jenny block discussed the issue on Huff Post.
This is about ignorance. It’s about ignorance about the LGBTQ community.
It’s about ignorance about God’s love for everyone. It’s even about
ignorance of simple commerce.
“If they want our business, then we will
not be ignored!” says OMM.
Seriously ladies? JCPenney wants everyone’s business!

Jean Paul Gaultier Makes Diet Coke Fashionable, Again

Jean Paul Gaultier
is going to make
Diet Coke fashionable!
Diet Coke recently named French designer
Jean Paul Gaultier as the brand’s new creative director. And the first
campaign launched under Gaultier’s command proves his creative mettle
remains firmly intact.
In images shot by award-winning
photographer and director Stéphane Sednaoui, portraits of the
60-year-old’s impish face are strategically placed over those of
(presumably) female models dressed head-to-toe in Gaultier gear, thus
continuing his long history of blurring gender lines with light-hearted
humor. gaultier’s limited edition bottles of Diet Coke will be available
in nine countries in Europe from April.
But the outré eye candy does not end
there. Gaultier can also be seen on screen with chic French marionettes
in episodes of The Night & Day Serial Designer, a new series of
short films promoting the iconic beverage.
We must recognize, as always, we love the
work of Jean Paul Gaultier. His printing has brought a touch of humor
and originality to the American brand, don’t you think?
The New Diet Coke bottles look a lot like his sexy torso-shaped perfume bottles.
The designer’s part-creepy, part-charming Diet Coke ads (in which he
provides much-needed makeovers to hapless puppets) culminated with a bigparty in Paris last night, where he unveiled his limited-edition Diet
Coke bottles.
Jean Paul Gaultier’s history with Madonna is the stuff of MTV legend; her infamous Blonde Ambition-era
cone bras and corsets stand alone as some of the French design
maverick’s most iconic pieces. So, naturally, when he was recently commissioned as the creative director of Diet Coke, he couldn’t help but
reference the pop culture touchstone in the ads.
Gaultier’s first Coca Cola Light commercial follows up from a series of early web ads.
The extended version shows the designer engaged in a
playful, vaguely creepy fashion shoot involving dolls while a remix of
Dragonette’s “I Get Around” plays. At the ad’s end, the new bottles make
their fashionable debut: in breton stripes, bras and corsets, they are
inarguably the coolest way for a beverage to salute pop and high style
in one swoop (or shall we say swig?).
The behind-the-scenes are great!
Fittingly, Gaultier also confirmed today via Grazia that he will be designing costumes for Madonna’s upcoming world tour.
Jesus Was Not A Homophobe Lawsuit

Earlier today, Lambda Legal filed suit against Wayne Local School District in Ohio on behalf of a Waynesville High School Student, Maverick Couch.
Last April, on the National Day of Silence, Maverick Couch wore a T-shirt to Waynesville High School that featured a rainbow Ichthys or “sign of the fish” along with the words “Jesus is not a homophobe.” The school principal ordered Maverick to turn the T-shirt inside out and told him that if he wore it again he would be suspended from school.
Maverick did not give up. He researched his First Amendment Rights as a student and went back to school determined to wear his shirt to mark the 2012 National Day of Silence. On his own, Maverick repeatedly requested the right to wear the shirt and was told each time that he would be suspended if he wore the shirt. Maverick called Lambda Legal.
On January 24, 2012, Lambda Legal sent an educational letter to the school, something we commonly do in cases like this, reminding school officials that students are protected under the First Amendment. The School Board refused to change its position, arguing that Maverick’s t-shirt is “sexual” and “indecent.”
Today, LAMDA LEGAL papers in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio asking the court to issue an injunction prohibiting the school from further interference with Maverick’s First Amendment rights.
Throughout this process, Maverick Couch has led the way. Maverick is standing up for his rights as well as for the rights of LGBTQ students around the country. He truly is a Maverick.

MADONNA W.E.? Mixed Reviews

Madonna landed stateside last night to premiere her directorial debut “W.E.” in New York at the Ziegfeld Theater.
While the dresses Madge wore to the
European premieres were a bit more understated, like the black and pink L’Wren Scott and the blue gown with Chanel leather gloves
for a photocall, you just never know what’s going to happen when you’ve
got one of the world’s most famous faces in front of the camera.
Madge didn’t disappoint. Madonna opted for full-on red
carpet drama in a sheer black Marchesa gown with a lace and sequinencrusted bodice and gravity-defying ruffles on the sleeves.
With Madonna’s “W.E.” taking home a Golden Globe
just over a week ago (her “Masterpiece” won Best Original Song), much
of the buzz at the film’s NYC premiere Monday night (January 23) was
about the upcoming Oscar nominations. (Today).
Lady Bunny, whose opinion I do value says, “I did not enjoy the very confusing film, which Madonna introduced to a
very impatient audience cuz it was almost an hour late and she gave a
dud of a speech.
When Madonna takes the Super Bowl stage next month, her performance will
reportedly be “imagined” by Cirque du Soleil and Madonna’s longtime
choreographer/ creative director Jamie King. The event may also feature
appearances from her “Gimme All Your Luvin” collaborators, including
Nicki Minaj. According to reports, the set list for the Super Bowl show
will include “Luvin” as well as Madonna classics like “Ray of Light,”
Vogue” and “Music.”

Kenneth Cole Honored by Gray Line and Announces New Aids Awareness Plans

“New
York is a wonderfully energized and creative city. I continue to be
inspired by its eclectic, diverse and accepting spirit.
I am honored
that Gray Line New York has
made me a part of their Ride of Fame campaign, and I hope to continue
contributing to what this great city stands for and stands in.”
– Kenneth Cole
Kenneth Cole was honored by Gray Line New York yesterday in New York City, as the tour company’s November 2011 Ride of Fame dedicatee.
Mr. Cole is the first fashion designer to be inducted in the campaign and is the only Ride of Fame inductee to design his own bus wrap.
The celebration was timed to coincide with Cole’s partnership with MTV Come Together AIDS Awareness Campaign where on December 1, 2011 (World AIDS Day) he will announce new call to action items and his newly designed AIDS awareness ribbon.
After his Ride of Fame ribbon cutting, Mr. Cole held the broken piece of red ribbon next to his chest, emulating an AIDS Awareness red ribbon.
Earlier this month, Cole partnered with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and amfAR on the reinterpretation of the iconic AIDS ribbon. Designed to commemorate the discovery of the virus 30 years ago, and to ignite a new wave of awareness about the pandemic with the next generation, the new AIDS ribbon, features a double loop, and symbolizes the coming together of individuals and the re-doubling of efforts in the fight against HIV and AIDS. In addition as part of this campaign as noted above, Cole will be announcing a call to action including the new AIDS ribbon on World AIDS Day, December 1.
Michael ABS Situation Sorrentino asked to Please stop Wearing Abercrombie and Fitch
It also stated: ‘We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans.’ The Situation – Michael Sorrentino, 29, has now been offered a ‘substantial payment’ to ‘wear an alternate brand’.
The internet is buzzing this morning…..
While Most brands are begging for celebrities to endorse their product; what could be better than free advertising?
But Abercrombie & Fitch are requesting that the cast of Jersey Shore do NOT wear their clothing. They allegedly even offered the Situation money to STOP!
The retail company released a statement yesterday, referring to the proposal as ‘A Win-Win Situation’.
They expressed ‘deep concern’ that the cast of the MTV reality show are parading around in their goods and blackening their reputation.
SIR RICHARDS the world’s first Luxury and Charitable Condom
CHARITABLE, CHIC
Designer Condoms!
What more could you ask for?!
As humorous as their name may be, Sir Richard’s is serious about public health, and social and animal welfare.
The distinctive packaging of Sir Richard’s condoms does more than help the product, ahem, pop out, on the shelf. It is helping to reach consumers who want to protect more than themselves.
The condoms, made their debut in eco-friendly type stores late last fall, and are trying to reach a more receptive audience then your typical male condom buyer. Targeting women, college students and the gay community, Sir Richard’s is hoping to reach a more socially progressive market.
They have been very well-received by retailers and hoteliers such as The Wynn Las Vegas, Viceroy, Cassa Hotel, and even boutique retail outlets like Fred Segal, Paul Smith & Whole Foods and more.
Not only will the condoms be vegan-friendly, made without casein, which is typically a standard part of the manufacturing process, but for each condom purchased, a condom is donated to distributing organizations in developing countries.
The condom maker is developing partnerships with organizations in Haiti, Thailand and Uganda for donation distribution in those countries. Semi-annually, the company will send a shipment equal to the number of condoms sold in the previous six months to these areas.
Sir Richard’s founder Mathew Gerson, in an interview for Elephant Journal, explained that in recent years, most of the US funds for sexual health in developing nations went toward abstinence education, leaving the global demand for free condoms only 10 percent fulfilled.
While there is an obvious, and great, need for protection in every country, cultural acceptance is a huge barrier that must be treated cautiously. Each of the countries being given condoms will have their own cultural-specific branding and language on the packaging, hopefully easing any remaining stigmas or social barriers.
Sir Richard’s is also aiming to make condom buying more of a fashionable experience here in the US, where the majority of people are sill embarrassed to buy rubbers at their local drugstore.
The company is hoping that the future brings more opportunities to be more than just a pretty face, though. Currently the lubricant is silicone-based, rather than petroleum, and they eventually want to implant seeds in their packaging as well as many other eco initiatives, but FDA regulations make any kind of change difficult in the condom industry. So while their goals are green, for now they will have to make do with providing free protection from sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies in developing countries. After all, as they say, doing good never felt better.
Available in Extra large, Ultra Thin, Classic Ribbed, and my favorite, Pleasure Dots!
Compared to most brands I checked, they are actually the same price or a little less expensive. And GREAT QUALITY! SIR RICHARDS find them on FaceBook!
