More Anti Gay Laws Could Come from Russia After the Olympics
Remember
when people were giving dire warnings about the Nazi’s in Russia and no
one listened? According to Masha Gessen, renowned Moscow-based
journalist, and author of a critical biography of Vladimir Putin, a
bill has been tabled to remove children from the homes of Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) families in Russia. This bill is likely
to be passed after the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.
Russia has
come under serious criticism for passing an “Anti-gay propaganda” Law
which forbids anything to be said about the LGBT community to people
under the age of 18 years. The law also makes LGBT parades or gatherings
illegal.
Canadian Author Robert Joseph Greene has been
campaigning for the law to be repealed since his gay short fairytale
love story “The Blue Door” was used by Russian protesters. The short
story is from Greene’s book The Gay Icon Classics of the World II which
is a collection of gay love stories from different cultures. The story
is about a Tsar who proclaims that his three sons could marry anyone
they choose but he didn’t figure one of his sons would pick a man for
his life partner.
“The law has caused considerable alarm and
confusion for parents in Russia, “ says Greene “We found a website where
Russian mothers are voicing their concerns about the law”
Svitman.ua,
a Ukrainian based Russian website that features parenting articles,
recently published the full short story of “The Blue Door” for parents
to read. It is illegal to publish the short story on any Russian site.
Svitman has received over 87 comments from Russian parents but their
concerns weren’t about the story but about the new Russian law.
Based
upon the collective online comments from parents, the story was not
viewed as inappropriate. However, what was more alarming was that
Russian parents worry about how the new Russian anti-gay propaganda law
would affect their families.
“Will I be arrested if my son or daughter turns out gay?” writes one mother’s comments.
With
Russia hosting the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, The new Russian “Anti-gay
Propaganda” law has been criticized by Western politicians and human
rights groups, and has raised concerns that visiting gay athletes and
spectators could face discrimination or even legal action.
“This
is history repeating itself when the Nazi’s hosted the 1936 Olympic
Games,” says Greene “The IOC was silent when the 1936 German Olympic
committee wanted to ban jews and blacks from participating and the IOC
is virtually silent now and the situation is clearly deteriorating for
the LGBT community just as it was for jews back in 1936.”

The hopes and dreams of the Russian people are utterly defunct, and the
leading cause of death in Russia is reportedly drinking too much alcohol.
If we look at the Russian crisis of anti-gay laws, the rise of anti-gay fascist groups and the killing of political opponents,
it becomes very clear that Russia is on the verge of collapse. Putin
is also trying to revive Cold War tensions with the Snowden affair and
is bullying LGBT citizens as if this had any chance of resuscitating the
flaccid Russian economy. These are the symptoms of Russia’s sickly
infant, her dying democracy.
Skinheads in Russia Torture Gay Teens
HOW SICK IS THIS?
Martsinkevich, known under the nickname “Cleaver” (or “Tesak” in
Russian) spearheaded a country wide campaign against LGBT teens using a
popular social network VK.com to lure unsuspected victims through
personal ads.
VK.com social network in order to organize illegal militant groups in
every Russian city.
targets exclusively male teenagers who respond to the same-sex personal
ads and show up for a date. Captured victims are bullied and often
tortured while being recorded on video.
Video recordings of bullying and
tortures are freely distributed on the Internet in order to out LGBT
teens to their respective schools, parents and friends. Many victims
were driven to suicides, the rest are deeply traumatized. So far Russian
police took no action against these “movements” even though Russian
criminal code was clearly violated and despite numerous complaints from
parents, victims and LGBT activists. Social network VK.com
intermittently shuts down selected groups and profiles only to allow
them to be re-open on the next day. Currently, the founder of VK.com,
Pavel Durov, resides in the US and so far has not released any

Scott Lively to go On Trial For Crimes Against Humanity
This is really remarkable!!
outrage when he worked with anti-gay forces in Uganda to foster
legislation that would impose the death penalty for homosexual activity. Lively author, attorney and activist, noted for his opposition to LGBT rights and his involvement in the ex-gay movement.
The New York Times reported:
The lawsuit alleges that beginning in 2002, Mr. Lively
conspired with religious and political leaders in Uganda to whip up
anti-gay hysteria with warnings that homosexuals would sodomize African
children and corrupt their culture. The Ugandan legislature considered a
bill in 2009, proposed by one of Mr. Lively’s Ugandan contacts, that
would have imposed the death sentence for homosexual behavior. That bill
was at first withdrawn after an outcry from the United States and
European nations that are among major aid donors to Uganda, but a
revised bill was reintroduced last month.
Mr. Lively is being sued by the organization Sexual
Minorities Uganda under the alien tort statute, which allows foreigners
to sue in American courts in situations alleging the violation of
international law. The suit claims that Mr. Lively’s actions resulted in
the persecution, arrest, torture and murder of homosexuals in Uganda.

Prince Harry, the third in line to the throne, behind his father, Prince Charles, and brother William, had a little too much fun in Las Vegas recently. Harry and his entourage reportedly met some girls in the Wynn hotel bar and invited them up to his VIP suite. The partygoers decided to play a game of strip billiards and based on the photos that have surfaced from that night – it appears that Harry was losing severely.
The 27-year-old can be seen cupping his genitals in one naked photo and bear-hugging a woman in another – while wearing just a necklace and Rolex watch. The now-infamous snapshots were printed in the British tabloid Sun. And that isn’t the worst of it. The New York Post reports that video footage of the naked romp is now being shopped around and an eyewitness claims to have seen guests snorting cocaine at the party.
Obviously the photos made the rounds and condemnation came from far and wide. “Here is yet another example of yet another privileged guy that never has to grow up” and so on.
But not everybody is chastising the Party Prince. Facebook group “Support Prince Harry with a Naked Salute,” is showcasing current or former members of the military in photos of themselves naked and saluting in solidarity with the rebellious royal, Prince Harry.
“This is for fun, friendly harmless fun to support Prince Harry, if you cause offence you will be removed immediately,” Jordan Wylie, creator of the group, said on Facebook. “Please respect the rules, keep it clean, cover your crown jewels and royal assets and show us your best salute, thank you for your continued support — We salute you Prince Harry.”

Madonna Fined $17,000 from St. Petersburg
Madonna may no longer be relevant to the younger
generations, but the old gal still has it and knows how to stir the pot!
Aging Russian government officials were prepared for Madonna this week and knew she would most likely share her views homosexuality.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister
Dmitry Rogozin has penned an offensive tweet ostensibly about Madonna (she’s skillfully left unnamed) in the wake of Madge’s outspoken words of support for the Russian punk band Pussy Riot.
“Every former w. wants to give lectures on morality when she grows
old,” Rogozin writes. “Especially during foreign tours.” The Associated
Press says, “By ‘w.’ he apparently meant ‘whore.’ “
On Tuesday, Madonna saluted the all-female Pussy Riot in her Moscrow
concert. The Russian trio is on trial for staging a protest against
President Vladimir Putin. And Madge spoke out against the city’s harsh new anti-gay laws, which penalize speaking about homosexuality around minors.
“I know there are many sides to every story, and I mean no disrespect to
the church or the government. But I think that these three girls —
Masha, Katya, Nadya — I think that they have done something courageous. I
think they have paid the price for this act. And I pray for their
freedom,” she said, according to the New York Times.
Madonna faces a fine for her violating St. Petersburg, Russia’s ban on ‘gay propaganda’ for the demonstration at her concert yesterday, according to reports from activists in the country.
Said Polina Savchenko, director of the St. Petersburg LGBT group, Coming Out, in an email obtained by Towleroad:

rainbow posters with the saying “No Fear” that were distributed to the
crowd. Although some posters were confiscated by security, their display
had a huge emotional effect during the show. Many fans raised them
during Madonna’s speech, and she reacted by saying “No Fear, that’s
right” before insisting that fear was the basis of all discrimination,
and that tolerance could only be guaranteed by love, the opposite of
fear. During the performance of “Like A Prayer”, while dancers were
raising a rainbow flag provided by a member of Coming Out and the
Russian LGBT Network, Madonna took a “No Fear” poster from the crowd and
raised it for 25,000 people to see. Same as for “Pussy Riot” support in
Moscow, she had tattooed her back, this time with “No Fear.” Gay
bashing scenes from gay demonstrations in Russia, pictures of teenagers
who died because of homophobia, and many gay and lesbian kisses were
shown during the very political “Nobody Knows Me” Interlude Video.
Madonna’s
support was extremely moving. Most of the mostly heterosexual crowd
reacted positively to her message by raising pink wristbands that were
distributed to everyone to support the LGBT community. The LGBT in the
audience received Madonna’s support with both smiles and tears, and
gratified her with the universal message “We love you” at the end of the
show.
Author of the “propaganda” law in St. Petersburg, Vitaly
Milonov (pictured) today declared that Madonna broke the law and is
planning to charge her with a fine of 500,000 rubles ($17 000).
Salvation Army Still Hates Gays…off the Record
Here we go again.
I have boycotted the Salvation Army for about 10 years now. And what kills me, are these big companies hate the gays. But they try to keep a “poker face” to the world. But every once in a while, their true colors accidentally slip out!
I am sure the Salvation Army does plenty of the good for heterosexuals. But the Salvation Army has always been down on gays.

opinion on something? Like your Uncle who’s otherwise chill unless you
get him onto the subject of the Fed, or your friend who once read The Autobiography of Malcom X
and now thinks he can hold forth about How Minorities Work? You know,
the guys who would be fine if they would just shut up about that one
thing?
The Salvation Army is like that guy, extrapolated into a global
charity organization. Yes, they ring bells in front of shopping malls
circa November-December to guilt you into giving money to for
poor people, and sell you mid-level “previously-rutted-upon” couches
for prices that should really make you wonder about their level of
rutted-uponness.”
The Austalian Salvation Army is apologizing for an interview in which Major Andrew Craibe, Territorial Media Relations Director for the Southern Territory in Victoria told journalists Serena Ryan and Pete Dillon that gays deserve to be put to death, Truth Wins Out reports:
CraibeRyan noted that the Salvation Army handbook cites Romans 1:18-32, a passage claiming that “God’s decree” is that homosexuals deserve death, and asked Craibe if the Salvation Army took that passage literally. Craibe replied in the affirmative, and continued to do so throughout the interview.
In response, Major Bruce Harmer, Salvation Army Communications and Public Relations Secretary for the Eastern Territory, issued a statement acknowledging that Craibe’s responses to Ryan and Dillon were a “miscommunication” that resulted in a misrepresentation of the group’s official teaching. The statement read, in part:
“The Salvation Army sincerely apologises to all members of the GLBT community and to all our clients, employees, volunteers and those who are part of our faith communities for the offence caused by this miscommunication.”
They apologize for getting caught. Pure and Simple. Please, do not support the Salvation Army.

Russia Bans Gay Pride for the Next 100 Years
This is so scary.
I scan hundreds of headlines every day. And in the last year especially, with more and more progress for gay marriage and gay rights, there is a growing backlash, worldwide, against gays. And I see the tension heating up to alarming levels. From the Republican backlash to the Christian backlash and the extremists who hate gay people. I don’t care what city you live in, please, be alert of your surroundings at all times. There are haters everywhere.
Earlier this year in March, we saw the St. Petersburg laws silencing gay people. Now, just a week after protestors for gay rights were arrested in Moscow, a district court upheld the decision by a Moscow city court to ban gay pride parades for 100 years.
Yes, the government can now legally forbid gay pride for a century, from March 2012 to March 2112.
Gay Pride in Croatia is Heating up – Tension Rising and Death Threats
Several government ministers in Croatia will join a gay pride march
set for this weekend amid threats of violence from opponents, saying it
was a test of democracy for a country due to join the European Union
next year.
Last year’s event, held in the Adriatic city of Split,
plunged into violence as police failed to protect the marchers from
angry locals who pelted them with eggs and rocks. Several people were
injured and at least 30 arrested.
Several nationalist and war veteran groups have issued warnings
against this year’s June 9 march in Split, calling it a “shameful
provocation by sick people to which we will respond.”
I can tell you, we were in Budapest last year, 2011, for Gay Pride, and nearly 1500 police tried to protect the 1500 marchers. And it was kind of scary. This year Police said they would NOT do it again and tried to cancel Pride – but Parliament overruled, and said they MUST protect the marchers again this year!
But back to Croatia.
Croatian Gay Pride revelers are being threatened with violence by members of a rightwing Facebook group, according to reports.
B92 notes that over 400 Facebook users joined the now-defunct group,
which has been dubbed, “Blood will flow in the streets of Split, there
will be no gay parade.”– the group even threatened.
“The group says its goal
is to point out to the public that it was unacceptable to hold the
“immoral manifestation” which should be held on June 9 in Split.
According to the group, the manifestation is “poisoning children”.
“What
are they proud of, their disease?”, “Every normal person is sick of
parades of mentally ill people (gays). They don’t care about the fact
that someone’s child has to watch the sick people”, “Gay bashing June 9,
2012”, “Don’t parade, go get some treatment!” are just some of the
comments posted on the group.“
An investigation of the group and its origins is reportedly underway.
“We will try to determine who the author of the group was and we will
act in accordance with the law,” Split-Dalmatia Police Spokeswoman
Marina Kraljević-Gudelj told the site. “After that we will inform the
state prosecution.”
Nuns Fight Back and Challenge the Vatican
Sisters Are Doing It!
Isn’t it funny that gay men have always resonated with nuns?
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI), also called Order of Perpetual Indulgence (OPI) in Australia and elsewhere, is a charity, protest, and street performance organization that uses drag and Catholic imagery to call attention to sexual intolerance and
satirize issues of gender and morality. At their inception in 1979, a
small group of gay men in San Francisco began wearing the attire of nuns in visible situations using high camp make up and crazy names to draw attention to social conflicts and problems in the Castro District.
In the news this week,
The largest organisation of US Catholic nuns has
rejected a Vatican assessment that they had fallen under the sway of
radical feminism.
The assessment said the nuns needed to hand control of their group over to a trio of bishops.
The Leadership Conference of Women Religious, whose members represent
about 80% of nuns in the United States, issued a sharp statement
calling the Vatican’s rebuke unsubstantiated and “the result of a flawed
process that lacked transparency.”
The nuns said the Vatican’s report has “caused scandal and pain
throughout the church community and created greater polarisation.”
Tensions between US nuns and church authorities, both in Rome and in the
United States, have been simmering for decades as nuns have taken an
increasingly independent and outspoken role in politics and social
outreach.
To bring the sisters into line, the Vatican announced earlier this
spring that it would put the Leadership Conference under the effective
control of three bishops, who would have the power to rewrite its
statutes, its meeting agendas and even its liturgical texts.
In their response on Friday, announced after three days of discussion
and prayer in Washington, D.C., the conference board called the
punishment “disproportionate” and said it “could compromise their
ability to fulfill their mission.”

This morning, The Vatican sharply criticized a book on sexuality written
by a prominent American nun, saying it contradicted church teaching on
issues like masturbation, homosexuality and marriage and that its author
had a “defective understanding” of Catholic theology.
The
Vatican’s orthodoxy office said the book, Just Love: A Framework for Christian Sexual Ethics
by Sister Margaret Farley, a member of the
Sisters of Mercy religious order and emeritus professor of Christian
ethics at Yale Divinity School, posed “grave harm” to the faithful.
Gay Activist Beaten in Ukraine…New Laws will Make it illegal to be Gay, in Public
Ukrainian Gay Forum leader Svyatoslav
Sheremet woke up on the morning of May 20 looking forward to the gay
pride march that he and his colleagues had been planning for months. The
march was the only public event the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgender (LGBT) community in Kyiv had scheduled to mark May 17th’s
International Day Against Homophobia.
By that afternoon, Sheremet was in the hospital with bleeding in his eyes, multiple contusions, cuts, and bruises.
The clutch of reporters nearby witnessed and filmed the attack, which lasted about 30 seconds.
WHY DID NO ONE HELP???
As early as this week, Ukraine’s
legislature is expected to vote in favor of new laws that will make it
illegal to be gay or lesbian in public.
President
Viktor Yanukovych is the person with the power to stop the law in its
tracks. He’s been trying to forge a “special alliance” with the European
Union for years and this Friday an EU delegation focusing on human
rights will visit Ukraine to advance the alliance process.
40,000 Europeans have already signed on to tell Yanukovych to block this atrocious law.
But that’s just not enough – we need to double that number before the
meeting on Friday. If we don’t push him to speak out now, an entire
generation will be forced into the shadows.

Saudi Arabia has decided to bar “gays and tom-boys”, and anyone wearing “emo clothing” from its government
schools and universities within a crackdown against the spread of this
phenomenon in the conservative Moslem Gulf Kingdom, a newspaper said on
Monday.
The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the most feared law enforcement authority in the oil-rich country, has been asked to enforce the new orders, Sharq Arabic language daily said.
“Instructions have been issued to all public schools and universities to ban the entry of gays and tom boys and to intensify their efforts to fight this phenomenon, which has been promoted by some websites,” it said.
We told you last month how gays and emo looking teens were being brutally murdered in Iraq. This backlash to gays is happening all over the world.
When will it stop??
The new orders in Saudi Arabia said gay and tom boy students can go back to schools and universities if they prove they have been corrected and have stopped such practices.
It said high-level orders have been issued to the Commission to immediately enforce the new rules and to step up efforts to combat this phenomenon and other “unacceptable behavior” in public places.

Brutal Death to Gays Rise in Iraq This Week
Iraq religious militias target ‘emo’ youths and gays. The groups say militant Shia have been encouraged in the wave of attacks by the interior ministry, following a long-standing campaign of gay-bashing. A statement on its website claimed emos were “devil-worshippers”.
Gangs of youths have devised a particularly brutal method of killing those they regard as “emos”, in the West a term for youths who wear black and adopt a moody appearance but used in Iraq to describe anyone with “floppy hair” and dressed fashionably.
The method, known popularly as the “double block”, involves abducting the youths and smashing their heads between two lumps of concrete. Activists say up to 90 people, all but two of them men, have been killed in this method or by shooting or beating this year accused of being either homosexual or “emo”.

Officials and human rights groups estimated as many as 90 Iraqis who are either gay or believed to be gay have been killed in the last six weeks alone – forecasting what experts fear is a return to the rampant hate crimes against homosexuals in 2009.
The New York Times reported, … in the past two weeks, officials had found the bodies of six young men whose skulls had been crushed. Reuters reported the toll to be 14 or more, citing hospital and security officials, while rights groups say that more than 40 young men have been killed, but have provided no evidence for this figure.
Human rights advocates say the threats and violence are aimed at gay men and at teenagers who style themselves in a uniquely Iraqi collage of hipster, punk, emo and Goth fashions. The look, shorthanded here as “emo,” has flourished on Baghdad’s streets as an emblem of greater social freedom as society has begun to bloom after years of warfare. But it has drawn scorn and outrage from some religious conservatives, and is often conflated with being gay.
… over the past month, threatening letters began appearing in Shiite neighborhoods across Baghdad, residents said.
One of the fliers, scanned and posted online, addresses dozens of gay men by name and nickname. It warns people identified as Japanese Haider, Allawi the Bra, Mohammed the Flower and others: Reform your behavior, stop being gay, or face deadly consequences.
“Your fate will be death if you don’t quit doing this,” one leaflet warns. “Punishment will be tougher and tougher, you gays. Don’t be like the people of Lot.”
Another flier circulating around the Zayouna neighborhood appears addressed to emo youths. It tells them to cut their hair, not to wear the clothing of devil worshipers, and not to listen to metal, emo or rap music. And if they refuse, “God’s punishment will be come down upon you and to be carried out by the mujahedeen,” the letter says. “Forewarned is forearmed.”
In the last year, there has been a massive hateful uprising AGAINST the gay community. Russia, the Republicans, Uganda, and now Iraq. What’s next?
Cambodia Lesbian Wrongly Jailed
Phlong Srey Rann, 20, could be spending the next four and a half years behind bars
for having sex with her girlfriend.
What a mess this is.
A great example of Guilty, until proven innocent…
“On August 10, 2011, [her girlfriend’s] brother filed a complaint that I
was illegally detaining her. The police then arrested me and accused me
of illegal detention and human trafficking,” Phlong Srey Rann
explained.
In November, a judge convicted her of having sexual intercourse with a minor and sentenced her to five years in prison.
The
“minor” involved was a co-worker she had met at a shoe factory in
Kandal province. They had been together for more than a year.
“I told police that I was not [involved in] human trafficking and that
we loved each other. I don’t understand why her brother filed a lawsuit
against me,” Phlong Srey Rann said.
Letters between the two
support these claims. One from her girlfriend identifies an older
brother as the source of the problem. “My brother is forcing me to stop
having a relationship with you, but I have to overcome it . . . you are
the person whom I love so much,” the hand-written letter reads.
Phlong
Srey Rann said it was news to her that her girlfriend was under age.
Her girlfriend’s family had provided falsified documents to the court
identifying their daughter as only 14 years old, she said.
“My girlfriend’s family lied to the court when they said she was only 14 years old,” Phlong Srey Rann said.
Cambodian
labour law stipulates that factory workers must be 18 or older, which
would mean that her girlfriend had been working in the factory since she
was 13.
Phlong Srey Rann’s girlfriend had been taken back to her village in
Kampot by her family, people familiar with the case said. She was
confined to her parents’ home and her mobile phone has been taken from
her, they said.
Still, a letter slipped through. “I love only
you. I will never love other. If my family does not love you, I will
still love you forever.”

As much as I would like to see Dubai, you won’t see me rushing there anytime soon.
Being gay in the Middle East is taboo. Friends have told me you can find gays in Dubai – the “bars” are very secretive and underground.
In the Emirates, while being openly gay is illegal, the community has
blossomed in recent years. Mark, a gay Canadian man, said that “the community has increased dramatically and people are more
willing, and accepting, of the LGBT community here.” – Still, I am not convinced.
Crackdowns in Arab countries
against homosexuals is common and swift, with many countries employing

Now, a new report published by Identity, a gay magazine in Kenya,
reveals that gay Kenyan men are being trafficked into the Gulf as sex
slaves for the wealthy.
The report alleges that gay and bisexual men are lured from
university campuses – particularly from Kenyatta University – with
promises of high-paying jobs and then transported to labor as sex
workers for men in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The publication interviewed one Kenyan victim who was promised a job in Qatar but ended up suffering sexual abuse.
Qatar specifically, has no laws against human trafficking, which has made cracking down on the practice nearly impossible.
While the elite and super wealthy want to be gay, that would go against
their traditions. So instead they often marry and then hire escorts or do this
kind of thing, to have their real desires met. It is a problem of
society not opening up to the gay lifestyle and forcing it to the

US Westboro Baptist Church to picket the Church of Scotland over gay ordination
Members of the notorious Kansas based homophobic Westboro Baptist Church will travel to Edinburgh in Scotland to picket the Church of Scotland embroiled in a crisis over the ordination of gay ministers. The Westboro Baptist church plans on 30 October, to picket Queen’s Cross Church in Aberdeen which has decided to induct Scott Rennie as the first openly gay minister in the Church of Scotland. Westboro church has also plans to picket the Church of Scotland during its autumn conference scheduled to hold in George Street on October 28. Scott Rennie has reacted to news of the plan, announced on the website of the Westboro Church, to picket the Queen’s Cross Church. Mr. Scott Rennie said: Everyone and anyone is welcome at Queen’s Cross Church – that’s the way Jesus was, and that’s the way we are. If they don’t want to join us in worship and choose to protest, then that will be up to them….I know a lot of people are concerned by their visit, but I am quite relaxed about it…At the very least, it is a good reminder to us all of the dangers of fundamentalism, and the absurdity of where it can lead you. Can I Marry My Cousin, As Long As He is GAY?
You may have seen two maps circling the web last year. But they have re-surfaced again as of lately.
Created, it appears, by The New York Times , the maps are a compelling point in the debate over same-sex marriage.
How is it that states that are perfectly comfortable with allowing first cousins to get hitched throw down the gauntlet over the same-sex variety?
It’s crazy!
in nearly every state in the Union, it’s perfectly okay for children as young as 15 to get married. In New Hampshire, you can be 13; South Carolina, 14, only requiring parental consent.
Not a single state requires that everyone getting married be 18, without exception. In Florida, not only can minors wed, but minors who have been married before don’t need their parents’ permission.
Many of these states, coincidentally, allow people below the minimum age to get married with certain qualifications met, usually getting permission from the court. In other words, the state gets to decide if children barely in their teens get married or not. The usual cause for such a request, of course, is if a teen gets pregnant.
Moscow police Collude with Neo-Nazis against Gays
Daniel Choi, a U.S. Iraq war veteran and gay-rights campaigner, was among the 34 people arrested in Moscow on May 28 as activists attempted to march in a rally banned by the city government.
Attempts since 2006 to hold the event have consistently been met with official bullying, arrests, and clashes with police and right-wing counterprotesters.
“We witnessed a high level of fraternisation and collusion between neo-Nazis and the Moscow police. I saw neo-Nazis leave and re-enter police buses parked on Tverskaya Street by City Hall,” reports British human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, who was part of the Moscow Gay Pride protest group on Saturday 28 May 2011.
“Russian TV presenter on channel ‘TV-Centre’, Olga Bakushinskaya, blogged that she also saw right-wing extremists at City Hall sitting in police buses and liaising openly with the riot police, the Omon.
“Either the police were actively facilitating the right-wing extremists with transport to the protest or many of the neo-Nazis were actually plainclothes police officers. They did to us what their uniformed colleagues dared not do in front of the world’s media: give many of us a good beating.
“By banning Moscow Gay Pride, Russia has defied a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights that it must be allowed to proceed. Some of us now plan to press the Council of Europe to suspend Russia’s right to vote in the Council’s parliamentary assembly. Russia must not be permitted to defy the European Court with impunity.
“Prior to the staging of Moscow Gay Pride, the ban was condemned by the Council of Europe’s Secretary-General, Thorbjorn Jagland, and its Commissioner for Human Rights, Thomas Hammarberg.
This past October, the European Court of Human Rights fined Russia for banning gay parades in the capital.

As the events of last Friday proved, there is nothing the British royal family does better than pageantry, pomp and a little circumstance. Except for crazy hats. And, of course, scandal.
Which is why KATE MIDDLETON’s family is already fitting quite nicely into the royal fold and waited mere days after the newly titled duchess swapped “I dos” “I wills” with PRINCE WILLIAM to make their very first foray into Public Scandal as extended members of the royal family.
So which member of the Middletons has the honor of causing such a fuss? The only commotion Pippa is apparently capable of causing is a riot for close-ups of her derriers ? And since His and Her Royal Highness have stayed out of the public eye and Carole and Michael know better, that simply leaves one man: brother James.
And his meat. And two veg. And he likes to play with his balls….
Though, it is important to note, that at no time are his own family jewels ever on display.
What is on display—and how—is his naked torso.

Say NO To Dog Poop on Your Streets
I don’t know about your city, but in some cities, people are SO LAZY, they don’t bother to pick up their dogs poop! And I am so sick of it! If you own a dog, clean up after it!
The island of Capri (Italy) is going high-tech to deal with an age-old problem: dog
poop.
The mayor of the island, located off the coast of Naples, is determined to
rid Capri of the rather distasteful predicament by using DNA testing.
The small island is a large tourist destination and is home to 7,305 people
owning 1,000 dogs. Unfortunately, some of the residents seem unwilling to scoop
up poop. In order to maintain the pristine setting Capri is famous for, the city
is using technology to track down pet owners who befoul the town by leaving
piles of scat behind.
The mayor plans to take advantage of a law that requires dogs to undergo a
blood test for canine diseases. The city will use the blood to perform DNA tests
on puppy excrement and identify the source of the smelly mess.
Capri’s Mayor justified his DNA testing for doody by claiming: “In the past
there have been unpleasant episodes, like tourists slipping and hurting
themselves.” Additionally, “there have also been unfortunate cases when the
victim didn’t get hurt but had to throw away some spoiled clothes.”
The fine for failing to pick up after your pet is 2,000 Euro. The mayor hopes
the steep penalty will help keep the island clean for visitors and residents

Husbands Josh Vandiver and Henry Velandia Making History
Even though they are legally married, the latter might face deportation in the next few months due to the Defense of Marriage Act which does not allow sponsorship for residency when it comes to gay and lesbian couples.
Josh and Henry are making history by being the first couple to appeal after President Obama deemed DoMA unconstitutional. More than two activist, they’re just two men in love asking for a little help in staying united in this country and founding a family.
